I saw Longlegs Friday. Extremely creepy, unsettling and disturbing with scenes that shocked my theatre. Maika shines as an odd character with... Mommy issues. To put it mildly..

I saw it today Emma! Hello from a fellow Aussie (Newcastle). My autistic son is mad about tornadoes. He can name different ones from photographs, it’s wild. He just about jumped out of his seat when he saw the water tower with El Reno painted on the side. I’m with you, very glad it was a solid movie in its own right even if it was a touch sluggish in the middle.
Was more surprised than apprehensive when first announced. But will see for sure out of respect to Paxton & original. Glad it had some Of the charm of thee original.
Twister is one of the most amazing movies of the 90s!!! Can never forget that scene with the cow flying through the air! Soooo looking forward to seeing Twisters next week in IMAX :) The sound is gonna be HUUUGE!!!!! Thanks Emma! ❤

Twisters is my most anticipated movie of the year, I'm so happy people are loving it. Seeing the first one in theaters is one of my favorite movie memories.
I live in Moore, OK and survived both tornadoes that destroyed it and also experienced the impact of the El Reno tornado that is showcased in ‘Twisters’. Do I expect this new movie to be as good as the original? No, that’s unrealistic. But I do expect a fun movie with respect to the original and us Okies :)
Loved the original when I was a kid, but it may also be the cause for my REALLY bad phobia of tornadoes. Of course, I live in Texas, too. 😂 However, I’m definitely going to see this one in theaters, so I’m glad to hear it was good! ❤
Great review! Just a thought, for adventure thrillers like this you could change the last rating to “Thrills” rather than “Scares” and then maybe this would have gotten a higher mark. Just an idea since the point isn’t really to scare the viewer in the way a horror film does. Thanks, I can’t wait to see it!

Seriously though I know there’s loads of work that you put in not only analysing the film and filming yourself, but then the whole editing process and polishing it up for us lot. This is one of the few modern sequels I would actually be willing to watch. It sounds like none of the major actors from the original are in it, which is quite a bummer. It would have been awesome if Hellen Hunt had taken over the role of her aunt as in providing a place for the storm chasers to eat and rest where she could have had a moment to remember the past. I mean in the original Twister you could argue that part of the movie is also a bit slow, but I liked it a lot. It really added to the character development was like the calm before the storm. Or perhaps the eye of the storm. But yeah, as always thank you for the review.

My mom and her sisters have a Japanese VHS copy of "Twister", and upon watching the movie for the first time on VHS when I was 6 withh my mom (sorry because our DVD player was broken), it was an adrenaline-fueled thrill ride from start to finish. And I am not afraid to say that "Twister" is my favorite disaster movie of all time. I have a lot of faith for the new film "Twisters", and I hope that it's just as amazing as the first film.🌪💯

First off, I wanna say that I love your channel, you do such a good job reviewing movies without spoiling them and most of the time you give a honest, non-biased review, which is something that I appreciate. Keep doing what you're doing, Emma! The original Twister from 1996 has gotta be one of my favorite nostalgia films of all time. My mom and I grew up watching it on VHS. Whenever I saw the trailer for the new Twisters movie, it really lowered my expectations because it reeked of "corporate remake syndrome" if you know what I mean? But, after seeing your review on it, I'm really pumped to try and see it in theaters. I may watch the original again just to get a fresh look on it before seeing this one.
Thank you so much, it’s not for everyone and I had mid expectations but it really exceeded my expectations and has something for new and old fans. Particular fans of adventure films, no one can say that it didn’t up the disaster and devastation, the original was made in such a different time and this one followed some of its lead but made its own thing.

Rewatching Twister this year after watching Storm Chasers over the years and surviving 2011 tornado outbreak hit different. Sounds like Reed Timmer could be an inspiration for Glen Powell’s character.
Living in California, I could see a bunch of us going to see this movie since we rarely get tornadoes. But I have a feeling that the people in middle-USA are gonna be like, "Why would I go to the theater to see this when all I have to do is look out the window?!?"
I love the original and I'm pretty into tornadoes, so am cautiously excited. Glad to hear the reviews are looking good. Question; is there some good plausible science in the film letting the audience know that the characters are actually pretty well educated in severe weather? Or was it the usual ridiculous "WE GOT AN F8 TORNADO!!" modern Hollywood stuff? Favourite disaster movies? Here's my top three... 1: The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1964) - Classic Brit disaster movie with a killer script. Earth starts drifting slightly towards the sun after some foolish experimental bomb tests. Told from the point of view of jaded and mildly alcoholic newspaper reporters. The romantic relationship in the hard shadow of the end of the world is remarkably convincing. Quite a funny script at points. London gets trashed by a big tornado. Superb direction. Ends with a question mark. A genuinely great film regardless of genre and free on UA-cam! 2: The Core - I know the science is the stupidest ever but it's just a tremendously fun movie with a great cast. Aaron Earckhart, Hilary Swank and a magnificently scene-stealing Stanley Tucci. The Earth's core has stopped rotating, and we have to kick start it again! Tucci is quite capable of chewing enough scenery to burrow down to the Earth's core himself without need of the special vehicle to kickstart it again. Great fun in a classic 1970s way. 3: Twister. Obv.
Finally got around to it and glad I chose a Dolby Atmos cinema. The story and tropes were about what I expected, but I did like storms, visuals and some ideas it presented. Nice to see Maura Tierney again, too. 7/10
I can agree about the secind act being slow, but the way it was written (and I haven't tested this but just out of my gut) I can still follow the story if it was made into one of those old two-hour-long radio dramas with me listening to how the dialogue was played out. It may not be solely for visual only and it's quite interesting enough if you're listening to the movie while doing your house chores. You'd definitely want to come back to your TV (or laptop or smartphne) to see ithe important scenes just from listening to how it goes.

I've always loved watching 'natural disasters' films since 'The Towering Inferno' and 'The Poseidon Adventure' back during the 70's. One of my favorites are 'The Day After Tomorrow' and 'Armageddon'.
The Day After Tomorrow wrecked me as a kid. Thankfully Mr Roger's came on the TV to reassure the kids who might have felt traumatized from viewing such a bleak presentation.

booked my ticket for an extreme screen viewing next week!! i don't live near a hoyts but i'm in melbourne for a few concerts so i thought i'd treat myself and give the upgrade a go. natural disaster movies are some of my fave movies ever so i'm so glad to hear this one is worth the watch!! i'm very excited to see this, especially on the extreme screen!

If they would have actual storm shelters around here, I'd be OK, but what they have is "fly on the go" shelters. Never anything that's always going to be a go-to place. And I don't trust my house. No inner rooms without windows lol

Watched this today... was kinda meh for me. The characters were mostly just loud and annoying saying "Woooooh" too many times at the top of their voices. The opening scene was pretty gut-wrenching though and tragic. The special effects were okay but too much bad music choices and loudness to the point you couldn't even hear some of the dialogue. I would prefer to watch the original over this anyday.
I'm so stoked for this! I wanted to see it in 4DX, but I'm not gonna make it down to Knoxville. Twister was the first screenplay I ever read. So it has a very special place in my heart.

Two questions....is it essentially a remake of the first? And 2.... did they use footage of real tornadoes from the December 2021 outbreaks? That was a rumor when they were filming and was wondering if that actually happened.
its not a remake at all, its a different premise completely. I dont believe they used real footage, but it really highlights the devastation in the area and focuses on helping victims.
This one kind of insults the first one. I mean the point of the first one was to develop a model so that they could warn people about impending tornadoes. This one basically says screw that Jo and bill’s invention did not work.
They use that invention in this one, this one is about destroying tornados the first one was about collecting information which is what that machine did, which is why they still use the same machine… it’s in the movie? They are basically using the first machine to then create the second machine
I live in Oklahoma and this doesn't release here until the 17th! What the heck! Also, my wife is an extra in this one! She is in like 1 second of the trailer even! We've got prescreen tickets for the day before it releases and we are stoked!

Just got out of this one, I guess I’m super judgmental but I didn’t enjoy as much as you, I didn’t find it thrilling, more like a weak imitation. But again that’s probably just my overpowering bias of love for the first one 😆
I didn’t find the first one as scary in terms of destruction, I felt like it had much less disaster and intense scenes? But all in all they are very different and this one leans into being a modern telling
I thought this movie was well made and thought out...but I didn't get the feels the way I did with the original. I just don't think the lead character has a shred of Helen Hunt's charisma and vulnerability.

Is the film score by mark mancina carried over into the new film by Benjamin Wallfisch?? One of the greatest aspects of the original.

Two questions....is it essentially a remake of the first? And 2.... did they use footage of real tornadoes from the December 2021 outbreaks? That was a rumor when they were filming and was wondering if that actually happened.
its not a remake at all, its a different premise completely. I dont believe they used real footage, but it really highlights the devastation in the area and focuses on helping victims.

My favorite disaster movies are Twister of course, 2012, and the Day After Tomorrow
This one kind of insults the first one. I mean the point of the first one was to develop a model so that they could warn people about impending tornadoes. This one basically says screw that Jo and bill’s invention did not work.
They use that invention in this one, this one is about destroying tornados the first one was about collecting information which is what that machine did, which is why they still use the same machine… it’s in the movie? They are basically using the first machine to then create the second machine

Actually, Frailty was not a “massive success”. Budget was $11 million and it grossed $17.423 million, so after marketing and promotion, it probably Lost money.

I was honestly expecting the movie to be really cringey but it wasn't which pleasantly surprised me. My sister only came to watch cause she likes Glenn Powel

Just got out of this one, I guess I’m super judgmental but I didn’t enjoy as much as you, I didn’t find it thrilling, more like a weak imitation. But again that’s probably just my overpowering bias of love for the first one 😆
I didn’t find the first one as scary in terms of destruction, I felt like it had much less disaster and intense scenes? But all in all they are very different and this one leans into being a modern telling

I thought this movie was well made and thought out...but I didn't get the feels the way I did with the original. I just don't think the lead character has a shred of Helen Hunt's charisma and vulnerability.
