Peaceful Cottage Garden Flowers Tour. GORGEOUS Foxgloves! Join Me In The Garden. Zone 6b June 2022.

- Its June and my garden is alive in zone 6b!! Everything is looking GORGEOUS! Everyday there is something new in bloom. I have a prefernece for formal and tidy gardens. However, I love to experiment with different combinations in my main walkway flower bed. Each year I change up the flowers I add to this space. In the past I have included Zinnias, and Dahlias. I used to have a border of dianthus that I have since removed and replaced with cats pajamas nepeta. Its the one place I tend to be more creative and less pinned down to a specific combination of flowers. My foxgloves are absolutely stunning this year. I grew them from seed last year, and they sent up their bloom stalks this year. What is the star of your garden right now? Comment below!
Thanks for watching! - Steph

Thank you so much Ciearra!
Wow! Great colors!
Oh my goodness this is gorgeous!! Every year I plant Dalmatian peach foxglove and every year it dies! I’m so jealous! I’m thinking it’s our wet clay soil and all the rain in the spring. Next year I’m going to try it on the other side of the house up next to the wall where it’d be protected a bit. Dreaming of tall beautiful foxgloves like this! 🤞🏻
Hi there, thank you so much!! I plant new ones each year. This is my second year planting dalmation peach. The variety in this video is called apricot beauty, even though there were some pink/purple ones mixed in. My dalmation peach is much shorter and haven't bloomed yet. I just have foliage at the moment. Hopefully in the next month or so. They are advertised as perrenial (the dalmation peach), but they didn't return for me this year so I started new ones.
@@HookedandRooted Yes I’d always wondered about the perennial label! Maybe this variety is just a bit finicky. I’ll try some others next year as well 😃
Wow, those foxgloves!!
OMG! Gorgeous garden! 🤩💐💖
Oh my I sooooo agree! So amazing its almost unreal!
Thank you so much Nicole!
So beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
Looks awesome, The foxgloves especially
Thank you so much Joseph! 🌱
Lovely garden, I had to laugh at the the way you say Peony.....Pee - o - nee. In Canada we say Ponee all one word. Or maybe it's just me LOL
Hi Katie, That is one of those plants we all pronounce differently. Similar to "clematis". I say Cla-ma-tis, some say Clem-i-tis, another one is Agastache. I say Aga-stash, some say Aga-stack-ee. So many plant names, so many pronunciations. Thank you so much!! 😊
Nice and relaxing tour everything is beautiful
Thank you so much 🙂
BEAUTIFUL ❤️
Wow absolutely beautiful !!
Beautiful♥
Absolutely beautiful!!! ❤️ Some of my foxgloves just sent up bloomstalks, and peonies & roses have buds, so I can't wait for all the blooms!! I have purple iris finally blooming but waiting on the other colors... everything is a few weeks behind here this year!
Its so hard to wait, but that sounds like it will be a beautiful show once things start blooming
Absolutely gorgeous, Steph!
Thank you! 🥰
Hello. It maybe June but here in Vancouver, Canada zone 7 we still mostly spring blooms due to mother Nature can't decide whether or not we can have lots of sunny warm days. We may get a couple here and there but then rain. I would like to see my summer blooms come up and the late spring to early summer blooms. Anyways, thank you for showing us your gorgeous cottage garden. I really love the color combination that you have. Amazing. Enjoy and have a wonderful day.
I hope it warms up for you soon, and your beautiful blooms start up! Thanks so much 💚
It is from the bist garden it is content a lot of flowers very very beautiful
Love your intro clip! IDK if that's new, but I only just noticed it in this video...🙈😄 Everything in the garden looks great. Love the foxgloves...I have to try those soon!!! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Hi Carmela! It is new, and thank you!! 😊 try them, so easy to grow from seed, and so rewarding 🌱
Your garden is beautiful! Where do you find your different Iris? You have so many different colors. Do you do bare root or buy plants? I never have any luck with starting bare root anything!
Hi there! My favorite place to get iris is to order from Shreiners online. Great quality and lots of selection. They send you rhizomes to plant. Took a couple years to bloom. This is year 2 on most of my iris.
I just subscribed to your channel we are sisters from another mother we love deals and great finds I want a piece of your lily don't have that one
Oh!! MY Cash are you saw which it???
My Bowl of Beauty peonies look completely different than yours. I had just shared them in my late June Cottage side garden tour video, they are at the 5:00 marker. Do yours ever look like that with the creamy center? I have been meaning to add May Night Salvia to my beds, yours are so gorgeous, I will double my efforts to find some after seeing them with the Cat's Pajamas Nepeta. I have been very impressed with how much it keeps blooming and it started very early in the season. Your foxgloves are lovely. I planted the Suttons Apricot and hope they turn out as lovely as yours. I typically seed directly in summer and fall and they bloom for me the next season.
I just ordered a hinocki cypress
They are beautiful! Enjoy!
Hi Steph!
I'm new to your channel and I ❤ it!! I'm a zone 6 also (ohio). I love all of the iris and the cottage garden plantings. . I have tried Foxglove many times but never had any luck. Are they direct sown seeds in the ground? Thanks for the great inspiration!!
Hi there! Thank you so much!! I have winter sowed my foxglove seeds, then planted out the seedlings. However, this year, I'm noticing so many that self seeded. So I think its one of those plants that if you grow them once, and leave them up long enough to drop seed, you will have them in the garden for years to come.
Breathtaking! How old are your peonies?
Thanks so much Dionicia, My oldest peony the light pink *sarah bernhardt, is 6 years old now.
Did you direct sew your foxglove? They are so beautiful as are all of your flowers! Big Southern hugs from SC. 🌷🌷🌷🌷
Hi Terry, Thank you!! I didn't direct sow them, I started them in potting mix in pots last summer. Then once the seedlings had grown, I planted them out. They were planted in the flower bed over winter. The foliage got pretty bad but then come spring all new foliage emerged. I gave them one application of plant tone fertilizer back in beginning of April and this is how they turned out.
Hello and Welcome Hooked and Rooted So Super much more and...
Looks beautiful Steph! Wondering where you put the Russian sage?
Hi Pam! I'm thinking of planting it at the top of my driveway in front of my entrance walls right in front of my limelight standards. I'm still playing duck duck goose with them around the yard looking for the perfect spot 👌
I love your videos, and you garden is stunning. Can you please share the name of the weeping tree in the background that was blue in color. Also, the small blue evergreen at the base of the garden? Thank you!
Thank you Tracey! The small low growing evergreens are Blue Star Junipers (they are great!!), and the other pretty wheeper is a Blue Atlas Cedar.

What happens with the foxglove after the second year does it reseed itself and start over
Yes it will if you let it go to seed. Year 1 started from seed is foliage. Year 2 blooms.
I love your Hinoki Cypress. I planted one this spring but it's only about 10 inches. Do you know how old yours is. I think they're a very slow grower.
Mine was planted here about 8 years ago. It has grown quickly suprisingly . But you are correct, in general hinoki's are fairly slow growers. I bought this tree at about a 3-4 ft tall tree.
@@HookedandRooted it wasn't cheap and I would have bought a bigger size but this was the largest they offered online.
@@cholt27 it really is so difficult to order trees online. I purchased this one locally. At a home depot if I recall correctly.
@@HookedandRooted yes I never ordered online plants before and am kind of new gardener for garden beds. I'm living in a new state, RI where there's not alot of variety. I realize I paid too much and shipping is expensive especially now so I probably will not order online again. ALthough the 4 plants were in good shape.
How close do you space your foxglove?
Hi there, I didn't measure, but my best guess is around 6-12" apart. The plants get quite large at the base.
At around 12:30 on the video what is the yellow bush in the back to Cypress
Forever Goldy Arborvitae
Where do you get your beautiful iris?
Hi there! www.schreinersgardens.com/collections/shop-bearded-iris
I’m sorry- what zone are you?
