My 1st "real" MTB fork was a Marzocchi...I have fond memories of that time period and learning to ride. I thought it was so cool that it was blue...and Italian!
Have always rode Zokes on the front of my DH bike and I'm glad to see them coming back with the coil. Now let's hope they do it for the DH fork. We're not all racers and many of us LOVE the coil forks. BTW, loved that intro!!
That fork looks epic and that's a solid price for what you are getting! Nice work Marzocchi. Oh and yeah I had multiple in the last. 888 and 66 and Marathon.
Had an original super t with a picture of Tippie on the box , a Z 1 and a 66 ata that sucked way down in its travel and marzzochi swapped it out to the rc3 coil damper for free. Just paid shipping. Super rad forks so glad to see the coil z1 back!
as far as i can tell is that when fox consumed marzocchi, started to release other techs ahead FIT series like GRIP (wich is the CR tech) and now the air coil new (old) tech
Currently running a mozo bomber 55 with a gold race coating with 170 mm travel super sick fork love how sensitive it feels and how simple but effective it is
Bomber 66 on my 08 Iron Horse 7point,it was a beast. Rockshox Domain on my 09 Jamis Parker loved em. Been running air forks since those two. Just ordered one for my Status, can't wait to get it and get it on the trail.
Fox has repeatedly claimed the Rythym forks aren't Marzocchi designs, but the Bomber compatibility got me 🤔 This is a heavy fork, but I bet it's a hoot going downhill. I haven't had a Marz fork since the XC300 in '92, but I still rock a 2005 coil Team Pike on my 26er. Sweet plush fork still going like a champ. Coil is legit when you have the right spring.
I bet is going to be trendy next years especially on E-bikes where the weight is not so important. Apart from that, yes, i had a 888 crv on a Demo about 10 years ago.
Ive got marzocchi forks on a dj bike i got in like 05 and they still feel great. Even ride fort William on it to see if i could n they took it well lol
Had ..GT Zaska with Bombers .....2 Spech Big Hits ...both with Shivers .....Coyote with Junior T ....2 Santa Cruz V10s with 888 RC3 evo ti and 380 ........Kenevo with z1 ..........I love Marzocchi brilliant forks ...the only ones I didn’t really get on with was the Junior Ts ......7 in total 🇬🇧👍
Used to run 888 RC3 WC forks on my old Session 10. Those things were buttery smooth. Not a fan of this recent obsession with air sprung, time to get back to better feel/performance over small weight penalties.
I have a 2001 X-Fly 100 on my Tracer of the same year (currently in the basement). MARzocchi was the shit BITD- looks like Fox is bringing 'em back strong.
Idk what to do in the future should I change from air to this or should I stick with the mantiou forks with there awesome reverse arch. And if you asking Hayden what's the reverse arch design and what does it do? Well my friend the idea of the reverse arch is to make the fork lighter by roving material but since it's in the back it still has the same stiffness as if it was in the front so the fork can be lighter with out loosing stiffness. Manitiou is the first company to do this and I hope fox or another company does this in the future.
damn I buy all sorts of stuff from you guys and just discovered (youtube algorithm) you gus have a youtube channel. great customer service and gained a new sub. I just inquired about this shock the other day I am torn between this or the air Z1.
Yup running and older 66 rc3 fork on a bottleRocket every day. Looks like similar specs to the Z1. My fork could barely move today because it's literally - 38 °C

Had a marzocchi 55r from 2009 on my ex ktm but it sucked! also had a 66rc2 2006 on my sx trail and that fork was heavy as hell but suuuuper smooth, felt like a motorbike fork! loved it til i scratched the stem
YES MARZOCCHI (had an email for Marzocchi its prononce Mars-ocky) that one looks awesome and glad to see the got coil back but I'd Still invest an extra $400 for a Push ACS-3
That's actually a cool fork suspension, never had this brand on my bikes as I'm a big fan of Rock Shox, but I wouldn't mind a fork this cool if it works well, the only thing I didn't like is just the color as I'm not a big fan of red for many things, including fork suspension lol
Tomi Saaranen Well damn! I love these coil kits but I hate that they permanently scratch the inside of the stanchion so an air piston can’t go back in there and seal properly
I had a Marzocchi on my 2002 Gary Fisher Supercal 29. Fast forward to today... Do you think a coil conversion such as what you showed in this article will be available for a Rhythm 34?
I have owned Marzocchi 66 RCV fork in the past. Easily the most dialed and plush suspension I have ever ridden. I usually do trail riding now days so the weight of coil suspension just doesn’t fit my style right now.
So, wondering why you only see coil forks that are usually 150mm of travel and up? Same with coil conversion kits, they normally are 140mm and up. Is there no benefit to having a coil fork that is only 130mm of travel? I'd really like to try a coil fork or shock on my Following MB.
It would still be beneficial as far as traction and sensitivity go but any coil fork is going to out weigh it's air version. That said, most folks running shorter travel forks like 130mm or lower are looking to also keep weight down. I assume that is pretty much the only reason companies do not push shorter travel coil forks.
Thanks for the video. I weigh 190 and with my pack my riding weight is about 197ish. It appears I would require a Firm spring. Does that make the price $749 + another $49 for the Firm spring?
Yeah, you would want to get a heavier weight spring for sure, probably Firm depending on what travel fork you use and yes it would be an additional $45 USD.
It actually only works on the 36 Rythyms. Check here for more info - www.worldwidecyclery.com/blogs/worldwide-cyclery-blog/marzocchi-introduces-bomber-z1-coil-fork

Chris Rowe honestly I dont have problems with braking bumps with the fork. But the traction it generates is awesome and plush through braking bumps is far better then air. In my opinion.
Chris Rowe unless you compare the 36 to RS Lyrik Ultimate air. Then Lyrik is superior. I got the RS fork on my SC Hightower LT and Fox 36 coil on my Mach 6
@@catg9196 Thanks for reply, I ride a Hightower LT myself. Just to clarify: you're saying that the Lyrik is already smooth enough that there's no need to switch to coil?
Chris Rowe yes. I dont feel like I need to go coil with the RS. But if you already have a Fox 36. Its cheaper to convert to coil. With the Fox 36 air, it never felt supple off the top. Thats why when I built up the HT a few months ago. I went with the Lyrik.
So this is great for the little dudes at Worldwide Cyclery, but it would it be for us bigger dudes that aren't 140lbs? I weigh 215 and I'm very curious how this would work for me.
Heck yeah, you will just need a heavier spring, check out the chart for weight in the blog: www.worldwidecyclery.com/blogs/worldwide-cyclery-blog/marzocchi-introduces-bomber-z1-coil-fork Based on the chart you would probably go with X-firm or Firm depending on what travel you were to get. Coil forks still offer the same benefit to a heavier rider, you just need to make sure you run the appropriate spring, just like you would with air pressure.
Good review, I still like air over spring though. Of topic, but I ran into my first bike snobs...I have a $2k bikes direct 29er full suspension. Pike up front, R3 in the back, GX gear set and Shimano XT8000 brakes. They had "boutique" bikes in the 5k to 10k range. I finished my ride right after them and they took one look at my bike and wouldn't say a word to me. I'm a 54 year old trying to beat mother nature. Really disappointed me seeing those guys think they were all that with their bikes. I say ride what you got and enjoy life. Love your channel my friend
Screw 'em, some people are just not nice... I hope you get to meet some of our folks on the trail one day, I think you will be happy to find that not all "bike snobs" are actually snobs!
i've owned junior t, 55 Rc3 ti, 888, 66 and z1. 888 was the best of all these by far. I was a much better rider on the junior t though cause I was younger . ha ha.
The right way to pronounce it's: "M" (like you are mumbling, with close lips) "R" (read like you are spelling the "R"), and then say "Zokke" with a strong "z" and a very open "o"...murzzókke. Greetings from Italy
Have you had a Marzocchi fork in the past, yes or no? Let us know!
Nope
Nah
On my DH bike I run a Marzocchi 888 RC3 evo Ti and on my enduro I run a Marzocchi 350 NCR Ti.
Marzocchi rock’s👊🏻
I had two marzocchi , both had coil springs, one had air assist, awesome forks
Hell yeah! 888 and a 66 in the past. At one point they were far better than RS and Fox!
That's why coils are use off road on cars, motocross, jeep and desert trucks! Had the very first z1 and it had alot of dirtabiliy!
My 1st "real" MTB fork was a Marzocchi...I have fond memories of that time period and learning to ride. I thought it was so cool that it was blue...and Italian!
Yes back when they were Italian . . . good old days!!

Had a 888 evo a few years back.. It was one of the best DH forks I have ridden.
The old 888's were the best. My current 380, even with the Avy upgrade doesn't compare.
Had an original super t with a picture of Tippie on the box , a Z 1 and a 66 ata that sucked way down in its travel and marzzochi swapped it out to the rc3 coil damper for free. Just paid shipping. Super rad forks so glad to see the coil z1 back!

You can’t kill the coil. The coil will live on
This didn't age well
"Progressive coil" future looks interesting.
Agreed!!
Also adjustable spring rate is a real thing. I can't wait for it to be mainstream. Coils would have all the advantages of air except weight.
This tech in marzocchi was way back, from 55r 26" of 14'

I had z150 coil with air chamber for preload and bottom out resistance. The fork was very heavy but was also bulletproof.
Bomber 66 on my 08 Iron Horse 7point,it was a beast. Rockshox Domain on my 09 Jamis Parker loved em. Been running air forks since those two. Just ordered one for my Status, can't wait to get it and get it on the trail.
My specialized demo 8 26 er has a fox 40 rc2 coil. And i love it.
I had a Z1 on my 99 Kona Stinky and then a Shiver on my 2002 Specialized Big Hit DH.
I loved their feel and I miss the simplicity too.
Got a bomber on my kona from 2000, I love the gold color scheme on it.
Of course it‘s not dead. It‘s very much alive. I prefer my Formula Selva though. It‘s lighter and more adjustable.
yes xc 200 xc400 I still have the 400 on my old 93 Cannondale Beast of the East they are blue.
LOL... the intro to this video really highlights the quality of this channel. Had me laughing from the first couple seconds..
Fox has repeatedly claimed the Rythym forks aren't Marzocchi designs, but the Bomber compatibility got me 🤔
This is a heavy fork, but I bet it's a hoot going downhill.

My 1st real bike, a 2007 Norco Sasquatch had Z1s on them, and i put them through hell and they always worked great

Probably pretty good, and much cheaper especially once you add the price of the "Push" to the Fox.

you need to try this with a Marzocchi rear coil shock
What's weight of the test rider? just ordered one from you guys...but just curious
Im about 150lbs all geared up but I prefer a slightly stiffer setup
My old school Konas ('99 and '01) had Marzochi forks. I think they'd be too heavy for my current riding these days, but who know..
Is the weight really have a big issue compare to its other counterparts?
so will my old Fox 36 coils work in the new Z1's ?? I'm really thinking of going coil... but I really want a root beer brown 36
Thanks for the video. I weigh 190 and with my pack my riding weight is about 197ish. It appears I would require a Firm spring. Does that make the price $749 + another $49 for the Firm spring?

If you have a coil already I assume it can also be converted to air? I seem to remember something weird on some recent for where you couldn’t.
I think the problem is the spring will scratch up the inner surface of the stanchion.
Can't find much info about the Fox 36 Rhythm for a possible conversion. Will it work with any Fox 36 with the Grip 1 damper?
It actually only works on the 36 Rythyms. Check here for more info - www.worldwidecyclery.com/blogs/worldwide-cyclery-blog/marzocchi-introduces-bomber-z1-coil-fork
