Looks like a great tent. It checks about all the boxes for what I’m looking for. The only thing it seems to be missing is ports for heat or ac. Hopefully that is something they add in the future.
I'm in the search for a rooftop tent and I have looked at so many vids and talking to others that have them, I am leani8ng to this model, The camping and caravan show is heading to Brizzy, YAY!!! so ill get to check all of them out in 1 place.. I like your preview, I wonder if they have done anything about the zipped issue for the back window where you used zip ties.. Anyway thanks again cheers
Great review Adam. We love our Yowie but I’ve always had issues with condensation around the metal lip on the inside of the lid and inside the awning outside the door. I just leave a towel inside and it only takes a minute to wipe dry. The LST is fantastic but I wonder if that is causing the issue with the LST material breathing. Good to know you have not had this issue.
Oh interesting, will have to check-out next trip. Do you leave the windows cracked? I've been leaving the door unzipped and other windows the same with the head open a foot or so and so far seems ok
I always find it odd when these rooftop tent manufacturers provide locks on the latching mechanism when the primary material used throughout the mechanism is a vinyl strap that could easily be cut.
Holy smokes, I just checked the price, $3k?! Wow. Just started shopping around and reviewing best options for sleeping 2 kids, two adults, thought the kids could sleep up there and pitch an awning or tent up to the the ute. Going to be an expensive proposition to start pricing everything we need for camping 🙂
Hey adam. Great video. What if there's an awning. Will the tent still open properly? I have the darche 270 mounted and I'm thinking of getting the yowie.
Yep, I run a Falcon on the other side of the opening. Just need to leave a little gap so you can access the clips. Have run a 270 every time I've taken it on a trip
Adam your videos are great i have implemented quite a few with my BT build. Question regarding this RTT is there a seal between lid and case that would prevent dust ingress...TIA
Cheers. There's no seal per say, it clamps down/clamshells down if that makes sense. I tend to leave the windows zipped at the bottom when closing just to help keep anything out
Hi Adam ,great video the 23 got good product mean thing got the darkness inside. Just question what is the type of brand are the 2 racks holding the tent. Thanks very much for all ur videos
What brand is your roller cover and tub rack? Looking to install a tub rack to my HSP roller cover but I’m stuck on how to go about it and what brands would be best suited for the HSP. Thanks mate great videos!
Cheers! HSP roller still there, great bit of kit, was using the load bars which worked well but found with the way that I use the setup, I was struggling to get to stuff in the back of the tub and I needed some more headroom so I went to this new rack that I'm testing that gets everything up a lot higher so I've got space to be able to reach in further and get different items out of the tub.
Hello, can you tell me if the fabric is fully sealed to the frame? Are there any openings for insects or what not to enter along the perimeter of the tent?
At 7.38 you show a zipper around the front opening, (not for the door flap). Is this for an awning or annex? I am hoping they are going to have an annex attachment as it is the one thing I feel I really need for trips out bush - sit under, cook without the flies! Thanks.. great video!
Thanks for the vid! Does anyone know if this will work on an X Terrain or is there another option that would be better. Also this weighs 70kgs and then we get two adults in it say another 150kg should I look at a third tail? Thanks
Did you not do a video on your tub rack? Have been looking at that design vs one in Qld which looks a bit more solid than the standard King's tub racks
Pretty rock solid, have had it in some pretty ordinary weather and I really like how it kinda comes in at the sides as well with the 'roof', quietens the weather down and just makes it less tent like if that makes sense
@@VideoShowMeHow thanks. im not sure what way to go. I am thinking of buying one of these rooftop tents for 1 night stays. You lost me at 4 staps on each corner. I'll stick to my ford transit jumbo campervan. There is no need to set up. Just pull up, hop in the back, and get comfortable.
@guitaradrian07 I fixed my poorly written comment haha. Was just saying that for someone who will do this full time. It's better to have a camper van where no set up is required. If I had to pack and unpack a RTT everyday, it would drive me insane.
Check-out the install video here - ua-cam.com/video/qZ31Xuuk1u8/v-deo.html :)
Love the LED lights on the outside… wasn’t aware it had these. Pretty set on the Yowie for my Raptor build.
Still my fav roof top tent as at today!
I really like the Yowie. I get the feeling there will be a few new releases of similar hard shell side folds in the next year.
Ocam just released a copy you were spot on

I guess is more for stopping your mates from playing silly buggers rather than serious security :D
Another great vid..quick question in your opinion - the Saber X or the The Yowie? Which would you buy? Thx in advance! 👍
ooo tough one, both great in their own way.. I think it really comes down to the setup you're running and what layout suits you best
If there is no seal around the shell how does it go on dirt roads. Does it get dust inside the tent or just on the outside of the canvas?

One of the better value clam shells out there.. there's rtts out there more than double that 😯
well dont look at james baroud's then...

How easy it to take off?
Just curious what seals the skylights from leaks as it appears to zip inside??
Cheers
It's separate and part of the top layer, zips are on the inner layer

Thanks very much for all ur videos
Racks in the install video are the HSP Load Bars and for the review video it's a generic tub rack that I'm testing for a bit more height
Great video. What tub rack is this? I have the HSP roller as well and looking for a rack
One I found online, just a no name/generic one, wanted to test a setup with a bit more room underneath compared to the HSP load bar setup
What brand is your roller cover and tub rack? Looking to install a tub rack to my HSP roller cover but I’m stuck on how to go about it and what brands would be best suited for the HSP.

Roller cover was HSP and that rack was an eBay special, both have separate videos on the channel in the DMAX build playlist
Excellent review!

Yes it is. I keep the mesh windows closed when packed, nothing can get in, haven't had a prob

Yes it is, they don't have it out yet but hopefully will be released at some stage, agree would be awesome!
How would I go with one adult myself and my 2 boys 7 and 9 would we squeeze in there thanks.
Would need the 1900 to have a chance mate. The 1600 is good for 2 adults
Hey Adam do you have an install vedio for the tub rack or could you just let me know if you have just bolted it into the tub trims?? Cheers 😁
No vid no, yeah there's a heap of bolts down the side
Does it have a rubber seal to stop dust ingress when it’s closed and you are driving down dirt roads
No rubber seal per say, clam shell design like you see in the vid
Does it get dust inside?
how to order this type? love it..
I'm in Jakarta (Indonesia), any agent in Jakarta?
Hi there, maybe email 23zero direct? They might be able to help

I believe so via 23Zero USA 👍
Yes that’s where it’s called the armadillo

No updates as yet, still going strong 👍

Not yet, yeah wanted some extra height 👍
Did you not do a video on your tub rack? Have been looking at that design vs one in Qld which looks a bit more solid than the standard King's tub racks
Yeah it's a solid tubular design, have had a few people ask about it, will do a quick walk around of it soon
What good is that lock when you can easily cut the nylon strap?
Yeah good point, guess is better than nothing if someone is just cruising past and being a bit silly
can you attach awnings? or is that another bracket to roof rack?
No can't attach awning to tent itself

No not at the moment. Looks like it's ready for one though with the zips etc!

I might have missed but no mention of able to or not able to store bedding inside. If not able to then not for me.
Yep normally leave 1-2 full size winter bags, is about halfway through vid
these look great i like em, however these don't seem to be suitable for summer conditions, more for the cooler climates
I live in QLD so it gets pretty warm here in summer, the Yowie goes great, the hood lining does a fantastic job of keeping some of heat at bay
Is the sky roof a mesh screen behind or clear plastic?
Mesh on the inner, clear plastic (I think?) material on outer
