    I feel like that All Stars challenge perfectly summed up all three tribes. Saboga being a trainwreck, Chapera being unstoppable, Mogo Mogo having decent strategy but poor execution, which was usually enough as Saboga was that bad.
    I think we could do a 4.0 here, as someone in the other video mentioned everyone jumping off the balance beam to let BR keep going in All Stars, and Scout had that challenge with the coconut water. Maybe there's three more?

      @@Peridiam I don't know if this has already been done, but I remember that there was a slingshot challenge in hhh (final 11 reward?) where there were a bunch of targets, and each time a target was hit, the person must switch, and everyone must go before anyone can go up a second time. In addition, you were allowed to switch with someone from your team at any time. The hack here was to have the stronger ones go first and each hit a target, then have the weaker ones take one shot then immediately switch. This allows the better slingers to shoot every target and not have the worse ones waste time

    The blindfolded maze reminded me about all of these: one person blind folded navigating and one person sighted giving verbal instructions is a common leadership/ice breaker theme. People think they are communication and trust challenges but they really aren't. The usual hacks are to give instructions as actionable for the blind folded person as possible (take a high step > there's a step up, crouch/crawl lower > there's something at head level, freeze > wait, etc), and to address/remove anything they are having to feel for or hesitate about.
    I did a similar blindfolded maze with a sighted person yelling instructions. Most of the actual time spent is on moving through the maze due to hesitation/feeling for openings and trying to interpret the sighted person. You can remove almost all of that by running face first into walls. Have the blindfolded person drag their hand on a wall, always run forward, and follow the wall out when they run into a dead end. Give all instructions to the blindfolded person as "(switch to the) right/left wall...NOW" and realize that switching can be slower than just letting them go through short dead ends. Depending on the maze walls and floor you can have your blindfolded person literally sprinting through the maze (and into walls). Obviously dial it back for corporate team building, but even having the person power walking with a hand in front will shock people. The next hack is then claiming it as "systemic leadership" or the result of applying whatever management fad your group is into, along with how great your blindfolded person is.

      In the challenge in the video, I think being a bartender and memorizing all those orders in an often chaotic environment helps with memory. The writing in the sand was a good touch but she had the numbers memorized even without that.
      In the 3-layer tower puzzle, that's more of spatial intelligence and just one part (if at all) of IQ tests. IQ tests measure more than just short-term memory and spatial intelligence. Michele probably scores high on those parts.

    1) A similar situation like the one in Nicaragua happened in the Philippines. Production originally designed the drum flipping challenge to require players to wrestle each other, but the contestants just sprinted around flipping the drums.
    2) In All-Stars, there were actually two parts to the boat flipping hack. The players revealed on the DVD commentary that they actually untied all the boxes underwater first. Then, after removing enough, they flipped the boat to get the remaining crates out.
    3) Might not be a true "hack," but Adam had a really good strategy in the final challenge of MvGX. Instead of trying to stack all of his pieces, or even making the tallest tower, he just made sure he was always ahead of David (the player he wanted to eliminate from the game).
    4) In the final 4 maze in All-Stars, Amber hacked the challenge by realizing each quadrant of the maze was identical.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't seen anyone mention this possible "hack". In Philippines there's a challenge where one tribe's player go against another and try to knock their opponents idol off. I don't remember who figured this out, but one player realized they didn't need to protect their idol and threw theirs up really high in order to properly launch at their opponent's one. It only mattered which idol hit the ground first. Hope that made sense :) I think it's after denise and Malcolm joined their respective tribes

    Honorable mention: Tony in Cagayan with the mud challenge. He mentions on rhap how he get mud on parts of his body that easily be able to get off in the bucket. Some people have it on their back & mud will get off before they arrived at their bucket.

    I'm starting at 3.0 instead of 1, but I'm guessing somewhere in these videos is the time Cochran noticed a puzzle was a repeat from a previous season and already had it memorized. I recall him solving it in less than 10 seconds.

    The boat challenge: the technique is well known in boating/paddling communities and the weight distro indicates they have an experienced paddler on the team.

    • @duffal0
      @duffal0 3 роки тому +2

      That’s also common sense not to have your weightbunevenly distributed

    • @jordanjtbraun
      @jordanjtbraun 3 роки тому +3

      @@duffal0 you would think it is common sense, but as a professional paddler and guide myself, I have first hand evidence that common sense is not so common. You would be surprised how many people get into a canoe and start paddling and wonder why the boat is askew... Despite the hundred and eighty pound adult sitting on one side and the forty pound kid sitting on the other.
      Weight distribution is key and is why most experienced canoeists will paddle a canoe "backwards" when paddling solo... Not everyone can recognize what is staring them in the face.
      As such, it is clear that an experienced paddler was on that team, everything from the boat rescue to the distribution of paddlers... Someone had done it before.

    The first hack used with the boat is a very common way to unflip or get the water out of canoes/kayaks that have tipped over/gotten filled with water. It's called a T-boat rescue where one person gets on the back of their sunken canoe to help lift it and the person in their working canoe pulls it ontop of their canoe (forming a T) lets the water drain and flips it over before sliding it off. First thing they teach you in summer camp if you do a canoe/kayak course.

    i keep thinking that cahllenges like this are so often flawed and easy to be good at with propper strategy. then I remember that im used to solve problems or puzzles with groups that are generally pretty smart and have good teamwork and can solve an escaperoom style boardgame meant for 2 hrs in 30 minutes.
    well at least im confident id have gone for the follow the wall strategy, since that is instinctively what I do in any maze. or a recursive backtracking algorythm, if i can see and memorize enough of it.

    Reality show challenge makers know human nature--90% of the time, if you tell someone to do things a certain way, they'll do it; that's why out of the box thinking is so valuable yet in the corporate world undervalued (because of course, your boss doesn't want their boss to think you're more capable than them for shirking the normal way of doing things)
