- It has been so long since I've gone live over here! I'd love to catch up with everyone! Looking forward to chatting with old friends and meeting some new pen friends! Have you ever been to Tokyo?? I'm going at the end of the month and I'm trying to plan my days in stationery heaven! I'm also attending my first pen show in September! Can't wait to talk with you! I hope you'll join me! I'm planning for about 90 minutes this Wednesday night at 8pm eastern!

Ohh I missed it - I’m in the EU- I lived in Japan for 5 years - try to go to the 100 Yen store - nothing like a dollar store. Stationary and sashimi and it’s people! I miss the most! Enjoy,! Wait till you see what Japanese people pay for anything USA/Europe - you can sell your thrift finds for double in Japan. So excited for you!

I have the Pelikan 805 in the Ocean Swirl with a medium steel nib,got it from my wife 2 years ago for Christmas,very pleased with the writing.
I'll be on the hunt for a Pelikan at the Orlando show! I'm so happy to hear you are enjoying your 805!
Lori, you have lovely handwriting and you mention that you prefer to use fine or medium nibs. I have not used a fountain pen for many years but would like to try again. I really like to use a broad point, so would you have any suggestions. Thanks for opening this door to something new.
Hi!! If I were just getting started again, I would try either a TWSBI eco or a Kaweco Sport. The TWSBI is a piston fill with high ink capacity. The Kaweco is a pocket size with a small converter you may need to buy separately. The Jinhao's are super affordable but I'm not sure they come in a broad nib. All these pens are under $35 (Jinhao around $5-7)

I’m sorry, you lost me at calorie counting.
Pen stuff: I’ve found myself so mesmerized in new colors and materials…I now look at a pen first for its nib and delivery system. Once I know I like those then I look at color and stuff. I’m a newby too but just buying a pen because it has a new color is not smart. That goes for ink too. What properties does it have that appeal to you. Go by the color family first. ROYGBIV= red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. After that shimmer, sheen, an shine. The more basic color ink is less corrosive to your pen. I’ve been also looking at the different black and brown inks. Pigment inks are good but also clog your pen if not used regularly. Japanese prefer pigment ink. They also instruct students to write at a more vertical angle than US uses. That’s why the Pilot 912 with the FA nib is less popular. The feed cannot keep up.
