Tenzin had a line in the episode about the most difficult element for the Avatar to master being the one most opposite their personality. Aang had trouble with earth because he was taught to avoid and evade attacks, rather than face them head on as is necessary for Earthbending. Korra doesn't yet have the spiritual connection to pick up Airbending. She's all brute force. Naga the polar bear-dog is appropriate for Korra because she is a Waterbender. Aang had a sky bison because he was an Airbender avatar.
Aang was actually pretty good at the fire bending itself, he learned very easely, he was even doing tricks and having fun, it was when he accidentally burned Katara that he refused to fire bend again. Earth bending, on the other hand, took him a while to master, he took many beatings from Toph to get good at it.
It's all about personality. Yes, Korra is a bit obnoxious. She didn't travel the world like avatars usually do. If you noticed in the first episode, all the masters of each element (bar Tenzin) all came to her and trained her on the spot. She was very isolated and heavily guarded by the White Lotus. No wonder she acts like a spoiled princess. For Aang, the hardest element was earth because it was his polar opposite, you gotta be sturdy and face things head-on. For Korra it's air for obvious reasons and you will see that she relies mostly on firebending, more so than her natural element, water, because she's so hotheaded. It's neat that the creators think about details like that.
Brandon Lyon that's kind of typical of some teenagers, they don't learn their lesson the first time and need at least a second correction. It's a bit more realistic that way.
That doesn't make good character or storytelling, just teen angst. Though to be fair to the creators this is probably all nicks fault since they only promised 1 season for Korra so the writers had be wrap all things in the end, but when Nick allowed more seasons they had to quickly write things down and having characters start over its probably why season 2 in general is such a mess.
Brandon Lyon That’s actually not true. Just cuz a character has similar qualities thru each season doesn’t mean they doesn’t grow and learn. It just seems people hold onto to that to dismiss the character. She has to completely change after each season? Would you say that to Aang who still asked the same question after three seasons or Zuko who went *back* to his old ways in season 3? I doubt it.
When you do consider Korra's background and upbringing so far, you can understand why she's acting like this. This was basically her first taste of freedom and independence. Of course, she'd want to do whatever she want. Her whole life has been following rules and being restricted so far. And as Nahid said, her world and time is completely different to Aang's world and time. Whereas Aang's was a time of war, hers isn't. Aang had to grow and learn fast whereas Korra doesn't really have to. Aang was very lovable because he was a peace-loving monk that was wise beyond his years. Korra is the opposite. It's definitely okay to not like Korra as a character yet since I believe that was their intention in the first place. To not only make Korra the polar opposite of Aang, but also make her not likable at first in comparison to Aang. It's basically Mike and Bryan wanting to try things differently lol. Also, sad to say this, but that wasn't Appa. Tenzin called him Oogi in the first episode. Mako and Bolin are brothers, who can bend different elements!
Lalisa T I can understand what you're saying about Korra being opposite but I don't think it was necessarily a good thing because it also made her very unrelatable with the whole teen angst. I never understood why she had stay always in the compound and why the White Lotus took over. It's making her look like a prisoner when really she isn't. She still has her parents she's free to roam around the South Pole with her polar bear dog and it's not like she had zero interaction with other boys. It just doesn't make sense story wise in my opinion. Also I do understand that she lived in a different time period but consider this. Avatar Roku was raised in a time where there wasn't War. He was free allowed to travel to different parts of the world and to learn bending from different Masters. Now I don't know why Korra wasn't allowed to do that and personally I think that was a mistake from the beginning. Now Roku was a separate person from both Aang and Korra. But even so he was still likable. You can make a character the exact opposite of another but still likable and relatable. But in this series Mike and Bryan took a chance and messed up
I seem to recall that when Aang got out of the iceberg and the world was in turmoil and despair, all he wanted to do at first was go penguin sledding, ride elephant koi, and go road tripping through the Earth Kingdom. Plus, he had all the freedom in the world growing up. Imagine if someone had tried to train Aang like Tenzin tried to train Korra? No fun, no music, no travel or leisure, just train train train?Disobeying orders from her instructors and acting out on her own? All that is pretty much exactly what Aang would have done in her situation.
Jinora moving through the gates is probably one of my most favorite scenes from both shows. With the music and Tenzin's voice teaching us and Korra about airbending it just gives me such a happy and relaxed feeling. I could seriously watch it all day.
Speaking of fav moments, they do this thing with Korra where the most genuine moments In the show you can hear her theme in the back and it makes that scene so much better
Unalaq was just terrible villain who came off as a cartoon then an intimidating or understandable bad guy. I was also disappointed in Kuriva, is was hoping she was going to be like the Napoleon of the avatar world, but instead she became evil overlords number 3 with death camps. Though I do admit Amon and the red lotus are certainly great villains (though I have mixed opinions on Amons backstory).
That just makes her even more shallow, sense when you hear Hitler you hardly think of grey morality or redeeming qualities, just evil overlord number 3 which we already got with Ozai and Unalaq.
+Crazy is Lifes middle name If you think about it, they actually got pretty lucky so far! The most rebellious thing Jinora did was get a crush on Kai during his sleezy badboy phase! And she reasonably told off her Dad a few times when he didn't believe she was 1) Ready to go into the spirit world, and 2) Earn her tattoo. But both cases are pretty justified. All it took for Aang to get a tattoo was to invent a technique, yet Jinora helped save the world--AND enter the spirit world. That's as Airbender goals as it can get, yet she was shut down for her age--which really was no younger than Aang was when he got his tattoo. I'd be frustrated, too. XD
Korra was designed, specifically to not be another Aang. Just like you guys noted in the first episode, she picked up all the styles of bending by like age 4 because she's a protégé. Her fighting style is an MMA style kick boxing and she primarily uses firebending so her personality deposition is head strong. She leads with strength, not in a cocky or arrogant way, but because its what comes naturally to her. Kind of like a huge wave of water, which makes sense cause she's a water bender. So that, plus her being a teenager that was essentially locked away in a white lotus compound for 12 years who I suddenly free for the first time to explore the world makes her a much more complex character. But you can also see traces of Aang's youthful naiveté, sense of wonder and morality in her. She was good person and no matter what, always means well which I think makes her so likeable.
The thing about this episode is your not really meant to be on either the side of Tenzin or Korra. Neither of them are necessarily right and both act like children. Tenzin tried to instruct Korra like she’s his daughter, because he’s only ever had to teach his children airbending. Not to mention there’s no big strain to learn airbending at the moment. Things are relatively calm and quiet with the world while in Avatar they were in the middle of a war so Aang and the others were never allowed to be bratty teens because they had to grow up too quick. Korra was also isolated for her whole life so this little taste of freedom is literally all she ever wanted and she wants more of it. So give Korra a little faith and time to grow. It’s only the second episode. Think of Zuko, did you necessarily like him by the second episode of Avatar? No, he was just a jerk. Allow Korra to grow just a little bit to decide wether you like her or not. People usually don’t give her much of a chance.
This show is amazing but the Teenager angst romance stuff can be a problem where as in The Last Airbender they left that to the side until the end. I can't wait until they see the story of Wan though.
One of my favorite things about the LOK series is the relationship between Korra and Tenzin and how their growth is cohesive as well as their flaws and mistakes.
Even if you don't like Korra I hope you please just watch all of LoK. Even if it doesn't live up to your expectations please persevere there will be moments where you really like this show and times where you don't. What I don't like is that you've started to compare Avatar with Korra straight away. They're two completely different people in two different eras with polar opposite personalities. Aang and Korra are both the Avatar but they're not the same person so please just accept her tom boy, independent teenage character because that's who she is.
★ Froggie Animation ★ I never said they're reacting wrong, I'm just saying there's no point in comparing them, they're different avatars, different eras. They're obviously gonna be different! I just don't want them to want Korras squad to be like Aangs because they're so different! That's all! Why would I be angry with their reaction? I wouldn't even be commenting on their video if I didn't, and I'm not telling them what to do, an opinion can also be taken as advice or dismissed. They can do what they please with what I have to say ^-^
I can't tell you how excited I am that you four are reacting to Korra! I appreciate all the time and effort you put into these videos. These are going to be my favorite videos aside from ATLA, AOT, GOT, ST, and WD. Thank you Normies!
I'm patiently waiting for Season 3, and I see I'm gonna have to wait a lot because this video is 3 weeks old, no respect for the youtube subscribers :\
Felipe Rodrigues it's not about respect, the normies need money to run their channel semi full-time, so patrons get it early. I think that's fair, I can wait.
I'm fine with them getting episodes early, but does it have to be almost a month early? That seems pretty excessive to me, not to mention the biggest incentive of joining the patreon is having access to the full episode reactions, not the early access.
Complaining that it's just a sitcom is silly after only 2 episodes. It's different from Avatar. You have to understand that. Her character progression is completely different from Aang. Book 1 Korra and Book 4 Korra are different people.
Ehh, I think this show definitely has a more sitcom feel than ATLA. Even beyond this season the story creates a lot of its conflict and tension through human relationships rather than a struggle between good and evil and "bringing balance to the world".
Yeah they are recognizing that they shouldn’t compare the two shows, and I hope they continue to do so. Cuz even the comparisons they made are not accurate. Such as when they discuss how “Aangs goal was clear right away” cuz that’s not true. We didn’t know Aangs clear goal until he talked to Roku at that temple in the fire nation during the solstice. We knew the fire nation were the bad guys right away (as we see the threat for Korra at the end of the first episode) but it wasn’t until he spoke with Roku that he knew he had one year to master the elements and avatar state before Sozins comet arrived. I had been the same way though when I first watched LOK haha so I understand them. It took me almost till the end of season 1 to stop comparing cuz I realized, part of what I was impressed with the show was how it *wasnt* like TLAB and something all of its own. So when I rewatched it I felt my eyes opened up wider.
Just because it’s different from avatar doesn’t mean it can’t be criticized. The sitcom aspects were poorly done in the first two seasons. It’s fair to say that whether comparing to Avatar or not.
Hey you guys, just letting you know that the one singular downfall with this show is that it goes through season by season stories instead of one single one across the series like Last Airbender did. This affects how the characters are written and the extent of the danger of the villains etc. This was due to Nick only slotting the creators for individual seasons instead of a whole show, so the creators never knew if they were getting renewed until the next year. Even with that handicap, the creators still manage to create joint themes and consequences for the later seasons anyway, and I just want you guys to realize that Legend of Korra is mainly different because of this and keep giving the show a chance into the future because it really shines once you get through it all
Honestly while Korra’s rebelliousness and teenage angst is completely understandable, that doesn’t make her likable. She bounces back and forth between being a nice character and a brat, which is off-putting. I, like most people, came to love her, but I can totally see why newcomers to the series might be turned off by it and not willing to push through. Most people who hate LoK on line stopped at this season or the second and never got to the truly awesome stuff.
In some way I hope these guys can push through to the really rewarding seasons, but at the same time, I don't know if their reactions will be particularly enthused, and worth watching. Don't know if they're open-minded enough and such. Right now, Blind Wave is killing it with Korra, and where they currently are in the story is some of the best reactions I've seen from them across both series.
Honestly, this isn't really new. When I first watched ATLA, the ONLY reason I kept watching through Book 1 was because of Zuko and Iroh. I thought Aang was too typical, simple and boring character, I found Sokka to be painfully unfunny (and apparently the Ember Island Players showed the writers were aware of Sokka being unfunny in book 1) and the overall season's story progressed too slowly. The next season however made me absolutely love the show. Zuko became even more complex than before, Aang had to struggle once in a while and never went out of character again, Sokka became funny without being obnoxious (and his jokes weren't predominantly food-related like in book 1), Azula was a far better villain than Zhao and the pacing felt more balanced.
So excited to watch this show again with you guys! And please be a bit patient with the show. Remember how ATLA started quite slow with the first half of Book 1? I would say Korra actually gets more exciting a bit faster (also because of there being fewer episodes in each season and each season is kind of it's own story) but don't judge the whole show by the first few episodes, a lot of people would also say that the last 2 seasons are the best.
5:10 Yes, Mako is named after Iroh's original voice actor, Mako Iwamatsu. He died, his last episode being Tales of Ba Sing Se, which is why Iroh's segment ends with a dedication to the actor.
As a person who was not allowed to play outside the house. I saw other kids playing from the balcony I wanted to play but was not allowed to, Was told to study, Didn't socialize with people studied even in the sports period it was very easy for me to make a world like a nerd I am I relate to Korra to me which was study and sports is what Bending and spirituality is to Korra. I had a ton of confidence just like Korra now The only sport I practice is martial art thanks to lot Airbender and I am much more spiritual than I used to be and it happened after I lost 12 quizzes IN A ROW. I understand the life it was not like I was used to studying because of my parents and my teachers pushed me a lot to play with others heck even my principal came to teach me that study is not everything. She thought I had really strict parents like(I talked to nobody, played no sports, study only) but my mother and father never every time said me and encouraged me to play. I did not have strict parents in slightest even now my parents never pressure me to become doctor and engineer heck even I talked to my mother today asking if I can be a chemist and she said "IF YOU JUST TAKE A JOB IN A DESERT COMPANY" She says not "everyone has to become a doctor and engineer"So I can see and relate to the struggle of Korra. Now I am one of the most friendly kid I am really good in martial art and the most spiritually developed kid.I love KORRA
I think the difference in personality made people dislike Korra but I think it was a good decision by the writers, yes she's the Avatar but she's her own person.
I understand seeing Korra and her personality/character for the first time can be somewhat frustrating as she is very opposite to Aang whereas Aang was immediately faced with intense, abstract, and mature stresses, she is a teenager who still has much to learn and relationships to develop. You see the way Aang’s character developed over the previous series and you should hopefully realize Korra likely will too along the journeys she will follow. Personally, I don’t think Korra is a brat at all. She is genuinely interested in learning from masters like Tenzin and is fully willing to try whatever is asked of her. She is not prideful nor egotistical but playful and enthusiastic. It is only natural for someone of her age to eventually become frustrated when she feels she is stuck and lash out when uncomfortable. You have to realize she is not Aang nor should you expect her to be Aang, and you have to give her character room to grow.
I love this because she is the opposite of Aang, she tackles things straight on and struggles with patience and how her actions affect others, Aang was calmed and controlled and had to be pushed fulfill his duty.
I finished the series on Monday and in my opinion I actually think Korra is the better Avatar. Can't wait for your reactions P.S. THIS is not a kids show
Depends on the season. Avatar Season 3 > Korra Season 1, 2B and 3 > Avatar Season 1 and 2 > Korra Korra season 2A and 4 I cant decide which is the better show overall. What is your list?
+Eddie Barragan Well, I honestly can't say which one is better but what I can say is avatar bored me before getting to season 3 while I did finish Korra (although I do agree 2A and 4 weren't great). However, I didn't watch season 3 of Avatar so you might be right and I might've missed the best part.
I can't explain to you guys how much it means to me that you guys are reacting to this series. I literally shed a tear knowing you would go on this journey! I'm excited for you guys and am excited about the discussions well!
Tenzin's and Korra's relationship is one of my favorites of this show. There's the obvious mentor-student dynamic, but also kinda a father-son one; if I were Tenzin I would have a difficult time not picturing my dad every time I saw Korra. (Maybe that's why he loses his patience so easily with her?) Mickey, you make a great point that we as the viewers see Korra how Tenzin does; never thought of it that way, but it makes perfect sense now that I've heard it. This was a great reaction and discussion, looking forward to the next one!
I think it's natural that you may not be as into Korra the character as you were aang because Korra is a teeenager, and teeenagers are usually pretty annoying, bratty, emotional, etc. whereas aang in comparison was the loveable, spiritual 12 year old kid. It's impossible not to compare the two but Korra's story and arc is a much more mature one so it might take some adjusting to. And btw if you're already getting frustrated with Korra (the character) now be prepared for much worse.
The thing is I found myself more frustrating with her mentors. They’re not her parents and he’s 17. Way too many strict rules and they hindering her growth and even they realized they had to loosen up.
I love Korra & its villains (except for season 2 it was just okay). Each season has a different villain type Book 1: The Revolutionary Book 2: i dont really remember lol Book 3: The Anarchist Book 4: The Tyrant
Zaheer isn't really an anarchist. He wants chaos, something anarchists don't. In the simplest terms, Anarchists want a system of living without governments, with the organization of society based on local, voluntary cooperation, within and between communities. Peaceful living with minimal rules, reliant on the good nature of humanity. Very Utopian, the furthest thing from chaos.
Keep It Zen isnt that exactly what he did with the earth kingdom tho? Its been a while since I watched the show but isnt that why he killed the Earth Queen?
Keep in mind this is a completely different show in a different setting of the Avatar series. The name is "Legend of Korra" but you'll get a lot of people comparing her to Aang, moreso than needed. It's kind of funny to me because that's the pressure she faced IN the show as well Just saying, try not to criticize her based off of what Aang would do, although she does deserve criticism because she's not perfect. Lots of people don't enjoy the show because they're so fixated on Aang while this show is about Korra, who has to live up to being the Avatar in the shadow of the legacy Aang left behind, which means they completely miss the point the creators were making. Now that I've said that in a really unsummarized way, hope you guys enjoy.
It doesn't help that the show has similar characters, Mako is the stand in for Zuko, Bolin is the stand in for Sokka, and Asami is somewhat of a mixture of Katara and Mai.
I was disappointed with what they did with Bolin and Mako, it seem like all the creators did with them was make a diet Sokka and diet Zuko, while there not exactly the same it was clear what there suppose to represent which kind off made them feel a bit shallow and kind of lazy writing by doing the same characters again. As much as people try not to compare this with avatar the creators certainly don't help with characters like this. And while Bolin gets better when he tries to do his own thing, Mako unfortunately gets worse.
Don't agree. Bolin is his own character. He's certainly not Sokka. Yes, both are used as comic relief, but other than that - what else do they have in common? Almost nothing! Sokka was very opinionated. He was kind of a jerk at times, too, in the early seasons. He had to reign in his sexism and learn humility. He particularly struggled with a false confidence that would fail him, especially when it came to interacting with new people. But in him was a great leader when the time for action came. Bolin was a pretty good bender who struggled in having mature relationships and understanding the finer points of interactions. Bolin never had problems expressing himself in public, but found himself constantly being used for other people's agenda. Sokka would see right through your scheme. ... While I agree that Mako's character was somewhat 'wasted', he is no Zuko either. Zuko has one of the greatest character arcs put to screen, it is pointless to even try and compare the two. As for what they went through, I cannot see anything that remotely suggests that Mako was created as the new Zuko. Maybe because they're both firebenders?
One of the things I absolutely love about Korra is her strength and boldness, a lot of people confuse it with cockiness, but she just has a personality to take on any and everything be it spiritual, mental, emotional and especially physical.
Looking back, I'm starting to see *so many* problems with LoK... the biggest one being the teen angst that takes over most of the series. If they redid it without the love square, kept the angst in the background, and made the seasons longer to build up to an epic season finale.. then it'd *so* much better. Also Wan. Wan needs a full blown 500+ episode series dedicated to him.
Also for being of the water tribe she seems like she'd fit in more with earth. In fact almost nothing about her personality and physic even hints at the representation of what water is known for.
You REALLY have to get to season 3. Avatar was also about growth and learning. Aang was also 12. Korras a legitimate teenager who has never been free, her personality is huge like Sokka but even he evolved and became one of the best examples of growth. In fact he grew a bit faster than aang into a leader. Korra takes a while and like s teen she lashes out she makes horrible choices and sometimes doesn't make sense even she knows that about herself. You're garunteed to not like her way of thinking sometimes but realistically it makes sense. And if you aren't too biased alot of the times you'll see she's right she just doesn't think about how shell handle her troubles so even if her point is correct her reaction to the problem is over the top. Like a teen girl who was always stuck and just now got a life. I grew to love this series and when I thought about it I agreed with some of her points some people are to harsh simply because she's not aang. Also think about what that lack of experience does when you start liking people. Patience is what we tend to lack these days glad I never once dropped the show.
a user has no name Well she didn't just "get" what she wanted. She worked to master 3 elements, so to her, it's weird that she doesn't connect with this element at all.
I think that is just a misunderstood about what she does; or at least people use to bash about her a lot. She is a strong an talented person with the ability to master 3 elements when she was young. Her life wasn’t exactly the best bc she expend to much time with the white lotus and for her air bending is just as difficult that earth bending was for Aang. She doesn’t had Toph and still doesn’t had a connection with Ten zin for the trust part. But she start to do it right when she enter in this weird sport. She learn a lot and in the show she change a lot.
Korra definitely has more multi-dimensional and complex villains than ATLA. Not saying that the villains in ATLA are flat or anything, just that the ones in Korra have more complex motivations and richer characterization
A thing you have to keep in mind about Korra is that up to this point in her life she's been confined to that compound in the south pole. That plus being someone who was naturally gifted at most things finding something they're not instantly good at leaves her feeling incredibly frustrated.
Although many are making helpful and accurate comments, you guys just keep doing what your doing and enjoy the ride. No one can tell you how to digest this show but you should know the progression of Korra is natural and takes time like life does I guess. By the end of the series she goes thru A LOT and is made better because of it.
I mean Aang did act bratty/dumb sometimes. He tried to avoid learning firebending for a while. But yeah they’re just totally different characters living in completely different times.
Naw it’s not Appa, I don’t think you guys heard it, but in the 1st episode, Tenzin called him “Oogi”
Yeah, Appa is dead...
Yea i got really sad when they was hoping it was Appa or Momo..
Megan Brennan remember that in the comics whenever aang and katara showed affection towards each other he would call it oogie's
He also doesn't have an arrow, that's also an indicator.
Megan Brennan Oogi is a she
Tenzin had a line in the episode about the most difficult element for the Avatar to master being the one most opposite their personality.
Spot on.
I know that but Aang still picked up Earthbending pretty quickly
Matthew DaCosta He learned Earthbending quickly but fire bending was hard emotionally for him in other hand
LesliTheFox Righhhht cuz he hurt Katara
Redyy [RedyyChuu] yeah she does NOT act like a spoiled princess in fact she’s literally the opposite of a spoiled princess.
if you think about it she uses water bending more and more each season. Water is the element of change And she changes each season
@@moneylover318 even tho she uses fire bending as much as water bending.
@@juanmanuelmoramontes3883 That is just a show her aggressive side. Even when she changes she still aggressive
I wonder if avatar kyoshi had a hard time with fire bending
Korra's flawed, heavily so. But that's okay, since it allows her character to experience growth
To bad she goes through the same motions again in season 2, and doesn't get anywhere until season 3.
Keegan Bate by the end of the series, she doesn’t show much growth. Still an entitled brat.
Lalisa T ^_^
Well said!
Aflo (^.^)7
Producciones Jey96 I think the writers actually did the best they could with what they got. Could've been handled a lot better, yes.
Daniel Cohen Except Aang isn’t a selfish bitch who gets everything on a silver platter
@@samskrrt2296 Aang got everything handed to him too
Daniel Cohen no
Tyron Wells not
Quilo Sky Anytime someone uses the word “bitch” or “cunt” or “Mary sue” to describe a female character, it’s an instant telltale of sexism.
I love that in this episode we finally get to learn some about airbending training something we never saw in atla
One thing about this show. *Strong* Villains!! Nahid's gonna love it xD
Chai Tea well almost all strong. Unalaq was bit.......meh and didn't have much substance besides he's very spiritual and wants power
Napoleon? The series takes place in Fantasy 1920's and 30's. She's a straight up Hitler reference.
That just makes her even more shallow, sense when you hear Hitler you hardly think of grey morality or redeeming qualities, just evil overlord number 3 which we already got with Ozai and Unalaq.
Regardless. The time period makes no sense for it to be Napoleon. The Earth Empire is about as blatant a Nazi reference as you can get.
"I will make no such promises." That line gets me every time. 😂😂😂
Crazy is Lifes middle name : She’s honest! Can’t complain about that
02:56+02:57+02:58
XD
Holy i forgot how light hearted this show was in the beginning
An Huynh Right? Nahid was like “I hope it’s not like a sitcom and that there’s a serious conflict”
Oh our sweet summer child.
You guys might have missed it but Tenzin called his bison "Oogie" in the first episode.
KnowYourHistory but do they know where he got that name from?
Mujtaba Gangji was it because when Aang and Katara would kiss all the time it gave everyone “the oogies?”
Law correct it would give sokka the oogies
Mujtaba Gangji no
XNorthEast Are you okay lad?
I agree
I can't wait until they see the story of Wan though.
uhh maybe don't spoiler things?
Yeah they could have really toned down the romance stuff a bit in this series but in the end it gets better in my opinion
Who else is waiting for Tenzin's best line ever? "Yes, i do" 😊
Wan was the worst written episodes of this series. great animation though. But i cant get over the bad story writing
The Teen Angst was just too unrelatable in my opinion.
You also have to understand that Korra has been isolated and sheltered for most of her life
People born in quarantine:
Mako's character was named Mako in honor of the voice actor for Iroh since he passed away.
Aang was a peacekeeper in wartime. Korra is a warrior in peacetime.
One of my favorite things about the LOK series is the relationship between Korra and Tenzin and how their growth is cohesive as well as their flaws and mistakes.
Man, it's incredible seeing how much Korra has changed. Can't wait for them to experience the whole show.
Drew Morgan no
Drew Morgan they compared korra to aang because their both avatars lol..
Quilo Sky thank you for like clearing everything up

I can't tell you how excited I am that you four are reacting to Korra! I appreciate all the time and effort you put into these videos. These are going to be my favorite videos aside from ATLA, AOT, GOT, ST, and WD. Thank you Normies!
I feel like talking about a lot of spoilers, but since I'm not uncivilized I won't, but OMG the parts I can't wait for you guys to get to already!1
next episode hype.
I'm patiently waiting for Season 3, and I see I'm gonna have to wait a lot because this video is 3 weeks old, no respect for the youtube subscribers :\
You can't really spoil a show like korra.
Felipe Rodrigues it's not about respect, the normies need money to run their channel semi full-time, so patrons get it early. I think that's fair, I can wait.
I'm fine with them getting episodes early, but does it have to be almost a month early? That seems pretty excessive to me, not to mention the biggest incentive of joining the patreon is having access to the full episode reactions, not the early access.
damn you guys make me depressed thinking its Appa and momo.. they are dead :( Time has passed
Appa only had one long arrow going through his back. But this Flying Bison has multiple arrows. So it's not Appa unfortunately
Complaining that it's just a sitcom is silly after only 2 episodes. It's different from Avatar. You have to understand that. Her character progression is completely different from Aang. Book 1 Korra and Book 4 Korra are different people.
I feel like they only have that impression after this episode. Once Amon is properly introduced I think that impression will change.
David no it call being critical
Aww, the early episodes, when people liked Mako. Oh, you poor fools.
🍃 Keep calm and be the leaf 🍃
Hey you guys, just letting you know that the one singular downfall with this show is that it goes through season by season stories instead of one single one across the series like Last Airbender did. This affects how the characters are written and the extent of the danger of the villains etc. This was due to Nick only slotting the creators for individual seasons instead of a whole show, so the creators never knew if they were getting renewed until the next year. Even with that handicap, the creators still manage to create joint themes and consequences for the later seasons anyway, and I just want you guys to realize that Legend of Korra is mainly different because of this and keep giving the show a chance into the future because it really shines once you get through it all
Fun fact! Mako was named after Iroh’s original voice actor to honor him
Honestly while Korra’s rebelliousness and teenage angst is completely understandable, that doesn’t make her likable.
Zuko became even more complex than before, Aang had to struggle once in a while and never went out of character again, Sokka became funny without being obnoxious (and his jokes weren't predominantly food-related like in book 1), Azula was a far better villain than Zhao and the pacing felt more balanced.
i just finished episode 2 of book one. kora is an unlikable bitch, should i keep watching? does she stop being a dumbass soon?
Love your channel! Heard someone on the on the radio the other day mention your channel! Are you really from Indy too???
So it went through! I called in and plugged the channel but I didn't think they actually played it. Good to know! And yes we are from Indy!
The Normies that’s awesome!!! I didn’t even know when I first found your channel :)
The Normies it convinced me to finally subscribe after watching a bunch of your videos from my recommendations haha
A little editing mistake, you put again "Welcome to Republic City" in the fair use timer.

"she has an attitude"
i'm so glad they noticed.
5:10 Yes, Mako is named after Iroh's original voice actor, Mako Iwamatsu. He died, his last episode being Tales of Ba Sing Se, which is why Iroh's segment ends with a dedication to the actor.
His last episode was Book 2 Ep 20
Those first few episodes I really really had to get used to Meelo's erm.... unique design xD
It gets heavier... way heavier... seasons 3/4 omg.
Ohhhhh yeah, Tenzin is voiced by JK Simmons!!
“That could be death” might just quote it every time
"This is kind of like a sitcom." Oh boy.
My question is how did appa reproduce
I believe aang found a herd of wild flying bison in one of the comics.
furious humping
Now I am one of the most friendly kid I am really good in martial art and the most spiritually developed kid.I love KORRA
at the finale episode of this series you'll cry hearing that outro
Just by the intro, it feels like you guys got spoiled in some of those "I wonder if..." lol
I think the difference in personality made people dislike Korra but I think it was a good decision by the writers, yes she's the Avatar but she's her own person.
"Iroh is still alive in spiritual world". Just wait for the book 2, Rana)))
A simple way to see Korra’s difficulty with airbending is like this, She’s a waterbender who thinks like an earthbender.
We need more LOK
LOVE TRIANGLE INCOMING! INCOMING! GET DOWN, I REPEAT GET DOWN!
Has anyone noticed that even after being a true waterbender Koraa most go too technique is fire bending , just because she is so hot headed.....
I love this because she is the opposite of Aang, she tackles things straight on and struggles with patience and how her actions affect others, Aang was calmed and controlled and had to be pushed fulfill his duty.
"I'm Mr. Meeseeks! Look at me!"
I finished the series on Monday and in my opinion I actually think Korra is the better Avatar. Can't wait for your reactions
P.S. THIS is not a kids show
Tiffanie J. Yeah, many people who are unbiased and have seen both shows recognize that Avatar Korra is the greatest Avatar we've ever seen.
The Avatar nah, I like korra but Aang was my favorite
Depends on the season.
Avatar Season 3 > Korra Season 1, 2B and 3 > Avatar Season 1 and 2 > Korra Korra season 2A and 4
I cant decide which is the better show overall. What is your list?
Jj Mmm I didn't say anything about favorites.
The zoom-in in the Sunkist bottle LOL
I can't explain to you guys how much it means to me that you guys are reacting to this series.
I literally shed a tear knowing you would go on this journey! I'm excited for you guys and am excited about the discussions well!
Just letting you know : 1 Mako and Bolin are brothers 2 those white guard at airtemple island are white lotus members
"I am a leaf on the wind... watch how I-" *SPLAT!!*
I know in a year late but bro these reactions give me life! Onwards!
Way too many strict rules and they hindering her growth and even they realized they had to loosen up.
aeris44 Yeah, they were both in the wrong.
i haven't seen korra since it came out. can't wait to see it with you guys.
I love Korra & its villains (except for season 2 it was just okay). Each season has a different villain type
Book 1: The Revolutionary
Book 2: i dont really remember lol
Book 3: The Anarchist
Book 4: The Tyrant
Season 2 is sort of a theocracy.
Its been a while since I watched the show but isnt that why he killed the Earth Queen?
just found this and my spring break is made- now ill watch all your reactions to this show
Just wanna add that you got the wrong title (that was the 1st ep) for the Fair Use timer! That's it, leafing you guys alone now!
Marco Estebar That pun is a breath of fresh air.
Keep in mind this is a completely different show in a different setting of the Avatar series. The name is "Legend of Korra" but you'll get a lot of people comparing her to Aang, moreso than needed.
It's kind of funny to me because that's the pressure she faced IN the show as well
Just saying, try not to criticize her based off of what Aang would do, although she does deserve criticism because she's not perfect.
Brandon Lyon They're not stand-ins, they're different characters with similar roles and personalities which is why people compare them.
Hoping for a strong Villain? You have no idea what is coming in a good way :D
Brandon Lyon Completely agree, but spoiler bro.... come on.
Guys stop assuming stuff they will tell you who related with who and so on and so forth but I really glad you guys are liking it so far it gets better
One of the things I absolutely love about Korra is her strength and boldness, a lot of people confuse it with cockiness, but she just has a personality to take on any and everything be it spiritual, mental, emotional and especially physical.
Yes! More Legend of Korra 😀
And every other avatar should have a story.
Plus, they should keep the previous Avatars
Masood Jalal Kyoshi gets her own comic book series
I think it really help shape the characters
Just wait... oh just you wait Nahid . Trust me you all will love Avatar Korra and the series as a whole.
*Appa died*
*bosco*
Well it has been over 70 years.
brb crying...
@@tofu8676 u know what's even sadder??
Aang most likely had to bury both him and Momo since they both most likely passed before him
Also for being of the water tribe she seems like she'd fit in more with earth.
Patience is what we tend to lack these days glad I never once dropped the show.
you guys watching shows is the highlight of my week
for real
I didn't even realize that they essentially modeled the stadium after the Golden Temple until you guys mentioned it, wow.
@ 0:22 little did they know...
Still don't know how tho.
Korra is not a brat; she was natural talent with the other three bending so she is frustate that she had to struggle to much with air.
Thats the definition of a brat!!! Getting everything you wanted and then throwing a tantrum when you don't get something.
Um... You just described what a brat is.
a user has no name Well she didn't just "get" what she wanted.
2:57 Meelo doing exactly like Sokka he’s ARMBENDING
8:06 DID YOU JUST ASSUME HER BENDING. PIG!!!
A thing you have to keep in mind about Korra is that up to this point in her life she's been confined to that compound in the south pole. That plus being someone who was naturally gifted at most things finding something they're not instantly good at leaves her feeling incredibly frustrated.
1:46 is when it started
The 5 dislikes must be amon and his followers
Trevor Costelloe 5 dislakes : Amon, Unalaq, Vaatu, Zaheer and Kuvira 😉
Although many are making helpful and accurate comments, you guys just keep doing what your doing and enjoy the ride. No one can tell you how to digest this show but you should know the progression of Korra is natural and takes time like life does I guess. By the end of the series she goes thru A LOT and is made better because of it.
i watched this video a lot of times but i just noticed it still says "1x1 WELCOME TO REPUBLIC CITY" on the corner 😂🙌🏻
Thanks for video about legend of Korra, greetings from Spain
You want a good villain? Well, guys, you won't be disappointed.
At the end of the video I liked how every one was talking and you all you hear in the background was can you feel the Love tonight
Erm, that fair use timer hasn't realized that we're on the second episode.
So happy to see this pop up in my feed.
7:42 - look at korra with the noise
I mean Aang did act bratty/dumb sometimes. He tried to avoid learning firebending for a while. But yeah they’re just totally different characters living in completely different times.
