Thank you so much for this video. I took lessons from 4-17 years old. When I went to college I didn't have access to a piano. Now that I'm 27 & bought a home (& a piano!) I want to play again, but I don't have a teacher! This is so helpful. Thank you again.
Been playing piano for years and just come across your suggested 'rhythm' practice technique. Thanks Josh, I agree this is really an effective way to help nail difficult passages. My playing of this piece has already improved! Much appreciated!
There is just something about those chopped up rhythms that work so well. I used them in college on a saxophone and these things work almost like magic on very difficult passages. These are hard, but I've seen worse and these uneven breaking up of the rhythms really can fix what seems impossible at times. You just have to do them, and let them 'bake', keep at it, the magic eventually shows up! Thanks Josh!
Ha! I still remember my college piano teacher drilling me with the rhythms you demonstrate here. I am a believer in them as I have been able to get through a LOT of difficult passages using that technique. Thanks for reminding me of those as I'm currently picking up all my old college pieces to relearn after taking 15 years away from classical piano works. I've been playing way too much pop and jazz lately.
@Ryan Tristan I hadn’t even completed grade 8 when I made that comment, and I was pretty much having a hard time playing rach but now I’m jus fine with some practice :) which piece are you playing?
+Josh Wright I really enjoy the ProPractice series! Do you ever take requests for certain pieces? Do you have a particular musical style you prefer in terms of baroque, romantic, or impressionistic?
hi,Dr.Wright!thank you for posting this helpful video,I just purchase the full length.but can I download it from my iPhone ?or it must go through the computer?

Which edition would you recommend for Chopin études, what do you think about Henle for these?
For competitions, any version that says urtext on the cover is what you want to use.
@@arber7240 Thanks for the answer but, why urtext for competitions? I just don't understand why
