Unreal Engine Batman Arkham #18: Lets get nuts...

- There are mostly just new skins this time, as I didn't have the time and motivation to work on a lot of gameplay stuff (although there are still some minor tweaks here and there).
One of the highlights is obviously my version of Michael Keatons Batsuit from the Flash movie, which is without doubt the most extensive and probably also one of the best 3D models I have made so far. I also took the leap of making it almost entirely from scratch, as the only pieces of the model that originate from other existing models are the face itself, some small sections of the boots and then the gloves (building topology for small stuff like hands is kinda sucky lol). I'm pretty sure that this is also the longest it ever took me to fully complete a skin, as it was probably a months worth of solid sculpting and modelling work (excluding any breaks in between) but I am fairly proud on the final results and it seems worth the time and effort to me. It's obviously also not a 100% accurate replica as always, I just like to give things my own flair :)
Its been quite interesting but also a bit tedious to build the mesh topology for all the different parts but I think the results speak for themselves. Speaking of retopology, I have also built proper topology for the Batman Returns and Batman Begins suits, so most of the body detail and edges look a lot better now, as the realtime mesh actually comforts to these.
Last but not least there are a handful of new skins made by @The-IceMage , including the 1960s Adam West suit, Blackest Night as well as the nightmare Batman from Arkham Origins and I think its safe to say that these three also turned out very nice.

Its low priority on my todo list, the design just doesn't really motivate me enough to make it when I could make other suits that feel more exciting and interesting to me
@@RRe36 Amazing work! One unintentional aspect I noticed is that the parkour, much like Arkham Asylum, isn't exactly perfect as you can see some slight oddness in the animation, nothing too noticeable but I think the WIP aspect has it's charm and really is a testament to your skill, you've reached the game design skill or maybe even surpassed Rocksteady's skills with their first Arkham game (ignoring old 2000's hardware limitations of course) I just find it incredible a fan is able to make this absolutely stunning project. What's next on your list for changes or fixes/additions you are working on?
@@benf6003 Well actually I am perfectly fine with some random minor imperfections during traversal, given that its humanly impossible to move perfectly fluid all the time, so thats more or less intentionally left in :p
I don't really have fixed plans on what to do next, so I'm kinda just going for whatever I feel like at that moment. Currently I'm kinda out of ideas for major gameplay stuff so I'm just refining things here and there and am practicing more 3d modelling stuff in the shape of new suits. I also got some long overdue construction sites such as the batgirl player pawn or the asylum intensive treatment level that I want to finish soon-ish.
@@RRe36 So the 2022 Robert Pattinson suit is low on your priority list, but the 2023 Michael Keaton Flash suit was super important?
@@MrSaberine well the design of the keaton suit was just more exciting to me as a fan of the Burton movies, and also due to keatons batman being extremely iconic

They can see it as copyright infringement for profit /IP theft
Even though it's made with good intentions they can by any means decide otherwise, so if anything closed source passion project all the way without a promise of release maybe ever
Maybe someday when it's completely finished and long stopped but that's a big maybe

the combat looks so crisp and the new moves that are added are insane, it almost reminds me of spiderman ps4 with how he moves during combat

Yeah, the market is pretty saturated with GaaS stuff and nothing really filled the gap the arkham series left, but not surprising that upper management is severely out of touch with the actual customers as always.

@@casmith1998 it's profitable *for now*, it could easily take the same turn the streaming services are taking lately, where the corporate antics involved are starting to actually annoy the user base while the profits start to drop. Gonna be interesting to watch how all the service-model products will evolve in the next few years
We had enough Batman games for now. Time for other DC characters to get games aside from Batman
@@SSJKDotsSanctum Tbh I just wanna see some good single-player action adventure with DC characters again, there really wasnt anything like that since the arkham series ended. Like no online components, just a finished game that you buy, play and perhaps then replay because its that good.
Freeflow is legit smoother than in any of the Arkham games now.
Y'know what else would be a crazy awesome skin for this game? A Blade 1 movie skin (Wesley Snipes).
Blade also had some similar gadgets as the Bat's, so, goddamn, just imagining it gives me goosbumps already.

I wish this could turn into a fully fledged Unreal Engine remaster for all 4 games. This is such amazing work, you definitely deserve the job from Rocksteady if they ever do proper remasters for their Arkham games again including Origins. I am digging the Keaton 2023 Batsuit, my only gripe would be is that he looks younger than he is in the Flash but that's okay it looks fresh as fuck either way.
4:00 refers to the scene of Joker in Arkham Origins when he's talking to Dr. Harleen.
There's a brief moment where he looks at a reflection and sees himself as "Nightmare Batman,he then gets jumped by this "Nightmare Batman" through the reflection and the scene freezes so you see both.
It's one of the best scenes from the game aside from Bane and Alfred's scenes where they interact with Bruce/Batman

Have you seen how scuffed any skins besides the v8 suit are in knight? They put all their effort into that one and then just half-assed everything else lol, excluding anything that was made by WBM since they did a lot of the DLC skins. Actually taking a closer look and dissecting some of the models made rocksteady seem a lot less magical

The modern Keaton Batsuit looks amazing so far - I know that the cowl will need a bit more work - the body suit looks accurate though - *chef's kiss*. The x347 combo was amazing to watch as well!
Hopefully you'll do the 2022 suit from The Batman one day - I now it's a low priority suit; but here's hoping.

This is gonna be long. I think the map we got in Arkham Knight was cool but I feel like Gotham is like 10 times larger than what we got. If y’all remember in Arkham City the Catwoman episode where you have the option of saving Batman or escaping to Gotham and you choose to leave. That one little stairway gave so much life and detail to Gotham. I actually felt like I was IN GOTHAM. Arkham Knight feels like just like any game before it where it’s a portion of the actual city that’s just sealed off from the rest of the world. The background in Arkham City was exactly how I hoped Gotham would actually look like. High rises and sky scrapers twice the size the ones we got in Arkham knight. Regular citizens and vehicles driving up and down the streets. I think most people would agree that we all want a 100% open world Gotham City with civilians in the line of fire. We need the intensity and the depth of having to fight crime amongst innocent lives. I’d pay top dollar for a game as big as I’m describing and I don’t care if it takes 10 or 20 years. I’ll be waiting for something truly perfect. This video gives me hope for that dream

Seeing that the Batman Begins suit looks so good in this makes me regret that we voted for the 2008 skin into Arkham Knight. When you take the time to look at it, the ‘08 batsuit just looks weird, especially adapted to Arkham Batman’s body. The Begins batsuit would look so much better.
Personally I like both designs overall, the Begins suit is just very overlooked in general
