  • In this video I put the 20kWh Pylontech US5000 battery system to the test and see how long it can power my house.
    I do a load of washing and also run the dishwasher.
    I can use this Victron powered system to charge the batteries during off peak hours and then use the power when it is on peak.
    This is part of the off grid series of videos.

    Thanks Andy for this
    Highlight for me was the dishwasher. Never seen one that looks so much part of the kitchen.

    When you get the panels on, on a sunny day be interesting to see how, collectively, on a sunny day, the panels replace battery charge as you do a washing cycle. So from using 40% to 50% in a day , lets see if the panels will push it back up to 100%. And if so how long it takes.

      Yes I am really looking forward to seeing what impact the panels have. As soon as I know I will let you know

    Very interesting. I’m looking at doing something similar, but I already have the panels which just heat the hot water and the rest goes to the grid which I don’t receive anything back. So I’d be interested in getting some batteries like yours. Thanks 👍.

      It's all down to the type of inverter that you have and if you have single or 3 phase grid connection. Have a look at the victron website for some more info. If you want to buy batteries then Nikon are the best place for it

    Fantastic Andy, very interesting. What kind of draw would the battery take during winter, if you had underfloor electric heating?

    • @ajinfrance
      @ajinfrance  7 місяців тому

      Electric heating of any kind really takes it out of the battery. It depends on the overall size and wattage of the heating. I really wouldn't recommend it. I would use one of the portable oil fired heaters which are super cheap to run. I did a video on them recently. The battery would provide around 15kWh so you could leave a heater or one room underfloor heating on most of the day but it would be empty by nighttime. This will all change when the panels are on though 👍

      Thanks Andy, I am in Burgundy. Selling my little cottage and buying something else. I will restore with Hemp bricks and other eco friendly products. I did a lot in the cottage with lime and hemp. I really would like to have solar panels at the next property. I have a couple of those oil fire heaters, that I use in the winter if I am away. When at home the underfloor heating is great and the wood burner keeps me very toasty. Though not liking the EDF bills.

      @@graydollar2363 I don't know your timeframe on this move, but my videos coming up are on using a wood fired boiler stove to heat the house from radiators and underfloor heating. This is in addition to the solar panels. I will fast track the next wood fired boiler video for you. Stand by.
