    Thanks for a good overview of the expansion! One thing that bothers me though (and which might confuse new players) is that you tie the new heroes and classes together too tightly. Of course there is a connection, for example if you compare the art on the cards with the classes starting equipment - it's the same. However any, say, healer archetype hero can be played as a bard, and Rendiel can be played as any of the choice of healer classes available to you. So Rendiel is not per se "Rendiel the Bard", he can as easily be "Rendiel the Disciple/Spirit speaker/Apothecary/Prophet" - and the same goes for the other heroes of course.

    Thank you for this great review. I bought the base game Descent 2nd Edition and am looking forward to expand it with this set once we finished the base campaign.

    Great video. I just got into descent and we are playing through our first core campaign. We are currents in part 3 of the 1st act. This video really sold me on this expansion. I will buy this expansion after I get my core Lieutenants

    Great review, would love to see you do one for Manor of Ravens. It's always between your channel and Watch it Played that I get my game review/tutorials-you are right up there with Rodney in terms of informational quantity and quality. Oh by the way, in the future-will you be doing a review/tutorial of FF's Imperial Assault, the Star Wars miniatures game based on Descent 2 mechanics? That would rock.

    Thanks for the video.
    How is the replay value of this game?
    How does it stands the test of time?
    What are better alternatives for you?

      If you like Descent, then for the most current experience, I'd suggest Descent Legends of the Dark, it's the most current and in my opinion, most fun version.

    Labyrinth of Ruin is pretty solid as well. Apothecary and Beast Master are amazing classes. Loved the review, on a waiting list for SoN. Trying to get the whole game, but it's expensive.

    Hey Tox great video. I was wondering how this plays in with the base game campaign. I'm currently running a group in the first act with the Trollfens expansion. Do the quests come out like the cards of Trollfens? The way that expansion integrates feels kind of stapled on but maybe I am just doing something wrong.

    • @CesarIsaacPerez
      @CesarIsaacPerez 10 років тому

      Trollfens is a small expansion and can be integrated to any of the big expansion campaigns. Shadows of Nerkhall is a big expansion, it has a new base campaign you aren't supposed to play it with the base game because it is a sequel to what came in the main box.

      Cesar Perez oh, so would my players need to restart characters when we start Shadows of Nerekhall? Not sure how it would work if they kept their characters with all their gear unless I used the epic campaign rules. Any ideas? Also thank you very much for the reply.

      If I'm not wrong they can use the same characters but have to start from 0 or experiment with new characters.

      Saio89 We have always started new campaigns at 0, haven't carried over goods or weapons so not sure actually. Let me know if you try and how it goes.

      Saio89 Your players should not carry over characters from a currently running campaign. If you start this one, start fresh.

    Haven't received my copy of D2 base game yet.. Seeing all these expansions one question comes to mind! Can you combine the characters from the base game with the class cards from the expansions? What about the other way around?
    So can I take Leoric from the base game, and make him a Conjurer from this expansion? Or can I take Orkell from this expansion, and use the Berserker class from the base game?
    Thanks in advance :)

    so does the skirmischer have extra rules? in the basic rules u can only attack with ONE weapon, even if u have 2 equipped...

    • @ThereGoesTheDay
      @ThereGoesTheDay 8 років тому +1

      Any hero may use both of his actions as attack actions. If you have more than one weapon equipped you would have to declare which weapon you are attacking with before dice are rolled. Where the bonus of the skirmisher comes into play is that his skill allows him to use the surge abilities of both weapons. So If you have 2 weapons, one my roll better dice, but the other may have better surge abilities, with his skill you can take advantage of that.

    Thank you for this great video! I was considering which expansion to get first, this video helped a LOT!
    Regarding Rendiel. in my opinion, Aurim (www.descentinthedark.com/2nd/aurim/) is a better healer. Simply because by using one potion you can fully heal ALL the party members. And you can do this for every healing potion you find/have (the only condition is that the heroes are adjacent)

    Comparing a fan-made scenario to a big box expansion isn't a comparison. The characters, classes, and monsters make an actual expansion far more useful to me.

    Grate review I disagree on the healer being too powerful (if you have to revive allies its already a bad position, just because tha happen many time dos not change the fact its a bad position to be in already) A truly too good or rather to powerful healer can make you avoid such situation with his ability that if it would be a character would be too powerful
