Well, I have to agree with Heiser on this one. The psalm in the dead sea scrolls and the different classifications and Enoch point to this. Also citing a fall, is citing when they spiritually died in Gen. 3.
Dr. Heiser was credentialed but not infallible. He tended to create more problems than he solved. His Nephilology and demonology weren’t biblical.

This makes sense because of how YAH scattered the people and confused the languages. Hense why it was called the tower of Babel. Fun fact: from present day the number one translation of languages is called Babel!

Uh, Paul in analogy of how sin entered mankind is stated as thru Adams......that is what "the fall" is about. It is about the beginnings of sin nature. Idolatrous worship is a further progression and Paul explains it in Romans 2.

I agree that they are all the same entity, BUT they have different rankings i.e. fallen angels are like generals and deamons are like soldiers.

The falling of a high ranking angel and a third of his angels speaks volumes against the sovereignty of the false God being preached by the world today. Not to mention the hypocrisy of that God creating evil angels in heaven and then telling his beloved creation (Man), 27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. If I lie to you or about you, you or another will suffer from misinformation. If I steal from you, you will suffer from lack or have to put out new effort to regain the loss, and all this while my family, friends and neighbors turn a [blind eye] or encourage my behavior. Now multiply that by the world population, then add in pride, greed, sloth, hate, etc, and you have suffering all around. Then stir the pot with the destructive force of three major wars and you have hell on earth (the pit).
The evil and suffering in this world is man's doing not some fabled fallen angel. When someone is tempted to do something that they know is wrong they have a little debate in their head and lie to themselves and make excuses to justify the action they want to take. Just like the story of Eve and the talking serpent. A talking serpent is a fable; 2 Tim 4:4 (KJV). A talking serpent symbolic of the lust of the flesh; is truth. The power of those that give into this serpent is what God calls Satan, or to be more specific, the power of those that use and abuse the laws of God “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” the poor, fatherless, and widows, is what God calls Satan, a principality (a government). And any who support him, through lies or evil plans (mind), or with works (hands) are his angels. Hence the mark of the beast.

Very interesting debate, guys! I’m really trying to understand Doug’s points, but I have to stick with Dr. Heiser for now. An “Avitar” just don’t make the cut. A pinch of the woman’s spirit or “yeast dough” as Doug references would have to be in the so called Avitar also. Therefore, rendering it a half breed, and not fully human. A mixture, of which YHWH hates! An unclean thing or spirit. Still pondering all of you guys points.

This was a really interesting discussion and it's something I occasionally wonder and speculate about. I never put much weight into the Enoch explanation so I guess I've always been in the camp that demons are fallen angels. And I think the reason why demons possess people/places/animals is it's as close as they can get to physically manifesting now. Good angels seem to be able to fully manifest physical bodies that can eat food and grab the arms of procrastinating Lots to literally drag them out of Sodom. Might be limited to certain categories of angels though. I think demons might have lost that ability when they fell so possession is the closest they can get right now.
I also had a wild thought when Doug was talking about his theories about demons/the old pagan gods creating their avatars or genetically altering a person for that purpose. Underneath the great pyramid is a tomb and sarcophagus for Osiris. One of the "old gods." It's empty now of course but in the upper chamber is a second supposed sarcophagus. It's popular to speculate that the pyramid generated power for some purpose but what if it was a giant machine wherein a person would get into the upper sarcophagus to somehow have Osiris' genetic info transferred into them from the lower chamber and transform a person into a new host? One of the theories was that the great pyramid is a sort of "resurrection machine." And I think I just jumped th shark higher than Ancient Aliens ever did haha 😂 Oh hey there's even more sarcophagi in Saqqara just down the road that were full of genetic goo!
No Angels are able to "fully manifest physical bodies" rather, Angels are always described as looking just like human males and performing physical actions without any indication that such isn't their ontology.

Doug Hamp is disingenuously hosting a discussion where he asks for other views and then rudely dismisses evidence from
Dead Sea Scrolls, Enoch 1, and Dr. Michael Heiser.
Joel does get off track with a personal story but his viewpoint is effectively what Enoch says. Why Doug would disagree with that based on his own “linguistics”
Learned a lot from Doug, but he’s arguing from a position of pride, and putting his opinion above the book of Enoch which was scriptural endorsed.
