I love your accent, and having just got back to London after my first time working in Scotland love it even more! It's one of the reasons why I watch your videos. The main one is after many years your lessons have opened up my playing when ive been stuck in a rutt
To be honest with you Tony it was hard to understand you at first when I first discovered your channel but your accent has grown on me and I can understand what you’re saying clearly
Midwesterner here with a southern accent, I am learning from your videos by listening closely. I have no problem with your accent at all. Thanks for the helpful advice!
Looks like a Martin John Mayer OM signature guitar? Sounds great! My buddy has one and the first time I played it I couldn’t believe how thin the neck was compared to my Martin 000!
Your accent is what brings me back along with your excellent teaching style. you have a very friendly voice, so I'm glad you're not listening to the complainers lol, rock on!🤟🤘
I think you're fine to understand! I think there will always be people who will complain about something. Your video content is golden, and it's helped to push my music further, and your style of teaching and playing is well needed i think
I absolutely love your mini lessons like this. So much easier to grasp in small chunks. The chord progression alone impressed me! The hammer on double stops reminds me of Hendrix. Love it
Love that accent, love to copy it when speaking English! 😊 Been in Scotland three times up to now, such a nice country, wonderful people up there! The hymn of our football club here in Cologne, the 1. FC Köln, has the melody of "Loch Lomond" - always gives you goosebumps! Keep on rocking, Tony! Great lessons you give here! Greetings from Germany!
Danke schön for the kind words! How cool that your football club's hymn has the melody of "Loch Lomond"! That song does have a way of stirring emotions. Keep on rockin' in Cologne, and greetings right back to you from Scotland!
You play Gaelic Football? Fun! i'm American and we don't call other places' football that. I'm not saying that to be mean. I've got irish, british, scottish family history. it's hard to get dead pan in text like this but it's there.
Another banger of a lesson! Your accent is very cool and i have no problem understanding you. I think your channel is one of the very best I have ever found on youtube! You really helped me get to that next level of playing. Cheers from Canada eh!
These lessons are great. I’m having so much fun learning concepts and just getting creative with them. My wife liked what I was playing and asked me what song it was. No specific song, just messing around with Tony’s little concepts. And, the accent is no issue.
Aw, that's awesome to hear! And hey, if your wife thought it was a real song, you’re definitely on the right track! 😄 Glad the accent isn’t a problem either. Cheers mate!
Not to worry, I understand you just fine. Your lessons are to the point, profession are easy to follow and the applications are very relevant. Nicely done !
Nothing wrong with the accent mate. (I've watched all the Rab C. Nesbitt series). I once went to Wick, admittedly I was struggling a bit to understand people there but it was a great experience all the same. Thanks for the guitar lesson.
Great channel pal, perfect for wee projects and challenges to help me improve, loving it. An yer patter is pure dead brilliant, change nuhhin, gaun yersel! :)
Hi there, greetings from Switzerland and thanks for all your Inspirations for us 👍! Each time i see a new clip from you makes me thinking cooool ,you are great ,i send you digital chocolates, cheesecake, watches, and mountains, have fun ,and i love and understand your dialect ✌️.
I first noticed your "Sweet Home Alabama" version of the G-chord back in the '90s in "December" by Collective Soul. Since then, I always play the G-chord like this.
Top job as always Tony. Initially i had 2 of your tutorials saved to work on,and now i have about 7. Really enjoy your teaching style, always very well demonstrated, and above all fun! Thankyou!
I love the way you speak. I am a lover of English language. Learned it when I came to Australia. It is spoken all over the world and there are many variations in pronunciation, depending where you live. Some dialects are easy to understand and some are not so. You teach music in a simple way that we like and if someone does not understand then they can watch and learn. Anyway we can slow down the video and we can replay parts of it over and over again so I don't know what is the problem. Keep up the good work mate.
Wow, thank you so much for the thoughtful words! 😊 I really appreciate you saying that. I’m so glad the teaching style is working for you! I’ll definitely keep it up. Thanks again, mate!
Greetings from Frankfurt/Germany. Please do me a favor and stick to your Scottish accent. I am always pleased to learn a new language and your lessons are awesome and I look forward for every single one of them.
Don't bother with people who say they don't understand you - any native speaker who can't understand you after a few minutes probably has pretty bad hearing and should reconsider if they're suited to be a musician at all. I'm a second language speaker myself, have never been anywhere in the English-speaking world other than southern England, and I have no problem understanding you. Great channel, I really appreciate your approach to teaching.
Haha I don’t to be honest, most stuff is just banter and I take it as that. One guy emailed me offering me accent correcting lessons 😂 you just have to laugh. Thanks man, really appreciate that!
I understand the music, the lesson, and you. And I’m from the other side of the pond. Folks out there need to start watching Brit Box or Acorn TV. I’m from Washington DC and find NY accents harder than GB ones.
Picture this: an light plane with 2 occupants is flying over a pasture and running out of fuel . The pilot says, I can’t land! There’s booze!Booze! There’s booze on the grind!”… one of my favorite movie lines. Uttered with a strong Irish accent, accompanied by an arial shot of bulls, on the ground. Now this was done humorously for the movie with a character responding “booze on the grind!? What the??? “ point being that sometimes pronunciation CAN lead to misunderstanding… but lets be real here. I have never once had to rewind your vids to figure out what you’re saying. You speak perfectly intelligible English, and frankly, your accent is one of the reasons I tune in to your vids more often than others. Well, that and all these nifty guitar tricks you’re turning me onto! Keep it up, Tony
Haha, that movie scene sounds like a riot! 🤣 I appreciate your kind words, my friend! I'm glad you find my lessons easy to follow. And I'm thrilled to be sharing some guitar tricks with you! Thanks for the support, and let's keep the music rolling! 🎸

just a question tony tonight I was at a friends house and he said try out my guitar and a couple people were watching me and it seemed like my fingers locked up , is that normal .?
The only problem I have with your pronunciation (notice I avoided 'accent') is that it makes me put away my bourbon for a single malt😉. Great guitar lesson!

@ 6:09 you’re on frets 7-8-9, I’m hearing a sort of “Wind Cries Mary” tone/riff.

Easy to understand. Great tip. Is that a Faith 6 string Guitars in the background? I have the 12 string version. Do you do 12 string tips?
Yeah it’s a Faith Naked Venus. Lovely! Not played a 12 string in a long time! I learned on my Dads 12 string which was murder on the fingers 😂
I love your accent, Tony! It's really been helping me with my Scottish accent practice, too. ;-)
