Possible title interpretation: the sound of a duck being stabbed would be blaring, dissonant, and cacophonous. Maybe this phrase could be hinting at some of the sounds contained on the album?
I always liked the work they did with Snakefinger. Loved Eskimo, Mark of the Mole and God in Three Persons. I think the "unsettling" aspects of the music are part of the fun of their deconstruction of popular music conventions. The new record is phenomenal.
The new album Metal, Meat & Bone seems to be pretty badass from the pre-release stuff... I also really like Gingerbread Man & God in Three Persons... sometimes I listen to Residents to fall asleep
The name is not meant to undermine their equally important third and fourth band member that never got enough credit for their contributions. Those two members of course being Ringo Starr and Charles Manson.
I always thought the title was a play on words from some old joke. Duck's Bill. What's another word for bill, especially at a restaurant or bar? A tab. Duck's Tab. Duckstab.
Had a chance to go to the studio in the late 70s while in the navy but I couldn't leave the ship when we were in port. Will never forget or forgive that moment.
The title "Duck Stab" is actually just referring to the cover. The photographer Graeme Whilfer just took it during a improved photoshoot. The being a Resident stabbing a prop duck. They didn't have a real name for the photo so one of the Residents just referred to the photo as "Duck Stab". Thus, the name was born!
@@kieran1059 I've been dying to see them live but never got the chance. It's still on my bucket list. I was given a bootleg copy of The Residents Radio Special when I was 12 (great. Now I feel old as fuck) and I was hooked.
Sebastian Jørgensen I have a few lists on my instagram story highlights (@album.reviewz) but most of them r from over a year ago and I don’t entirely agree w them anymore, but my fav albums one is up to date 😉 I think I may do a top 10 fav albums of all time vid tho and go more in depth once something big happens (the list may even change a bit from how it is now)

yeah, but there would be no echo
Fantastic breakdown. This was the first Residents album I heard, and yeah, I was hooked in the first 60 seconds.

It’s the top 1% who are REALLY stabbing the ducks 🦆😤
Great video! I love people talking about The Residents. I would love to see a video about Not Available!

“Not Available” was The Residents album which changed my life. Anyone else?
Please please please make a video on God Ween Satan!! This video was fantastic, great work
In case anyone didn't catch this, their debut album cover is a parody of the revolutionary British band 'The Lennon McCartney Delirium'

Great songs and great music the most pricey albums they put together a refrigerator with albums and sold for 1 million dollar

0:49 lesson to popular artists
as a wise man once said "my main goal is to blow up and act like I dont know nobody"
Where’s your video on Not Available?
I love how you say you don't want to reveal the identities of the people behind the band, but right after that you name drop Hardy Fox.
Wasn't he just the overseer/director of the group? Not sure if he played instruments/performed on stage with them but correct me if I'm wrong.

I fucking hate how he did that.
I thought that was the punchline?
Great video!!
Radio special is the 1st thing I heard from the Beatles...uh I mean The Residents. Proper sounds for a 12 year old.
