The True Spinal Tap!! Look these guys up..There the definition of a REAL live Rock and roll band!!! . Everything that can go wrong did, but they stood there ground, pick themselves up more than a hundred times, and ROCKED ON!!!!! And there still going!!!! True friends, and a true, real life band.. Oh, and Rob...truly one of the best drummers....he plays his drums, he doesn't hit or smash the drums, and he easily shows that.. anyone' can be a drummer but few can play. This man plays, and lives his drums, that"s Obvious. Well done boys!!! 40 Years +

I wouldn't say it was sad.. I watched the movie many times couple years back, I think it's a good movie about life and friendship. It was a fun movie. I was also struggling with my bullshit band back then and there were lots of things to idetify with.. :D but yeah, I'm happy these guys are still playing.

John Yang Another piece of trivia: Lemmy tried to recruit Lips after Fast Eddie Clark left Motorhead. However, out of loyalty to Robb, he decided to stay with his brother in arms.

I take that back. After writing the first paragraph i watched Steve's solo. He is a mediocre guitar player at best. Good riff writer though.

They weren't pretty enough for the 80s, lips' voice wasn't good enough, and the songs were too raunchy and juvenile. It's no secret why they didn't make it.

They had their chance and blew it. They played with many bands that went on to be big. They are more of a novelty band with a small cult following.
They ended up doing just fine.

I met him 2 days ago at a show in Fresno,Ca. I can say the same, no ego, kool ass dude. I smoked with him and talked to him about music and stuff.

Rob is still unbelievably talented, even at this age. I can't even fathom how he must have been 30 years ago. Mindblowing.

Saw Anvil open for Motorhead in TO, '81. They were just a local band then with their first album due out 2 weeks after the show.

These guys deserve so much more. One of the big bands that were influenced by Anvil should take them on tour, christ they are in their 50's so can't have much touring time left!

When I hear Lips singing Winged Assassins and Mothra, I feel nothing but pride in my weed smokin/beer drinkin, snowbound, Hoser heart.
Lips is so cool and true.The story of anvil is old now and helped them .Whish them the best and you got to love them if your a metal head .
They deserve the world. I mean - look at Lips: He's not playing a fancy amp or guitar, he's doing rhythm guitars, lead guitars and vocals and keeps the band on track. Show some love for the innovators of speed metal.

These guys have been around since forever. I'm the same age as lead singer/guitarist Steve "Lips" Kudlow. Anvil can still/always will rock the house!!

Anvil is one band that has been through hell and back....and here they still are rockin out and doing what they wanted to do from day one. I've known this band since they started, not personally but as a fan. A 3 piece heavy metal band from Canada was not an easy thing to accomplish in the early 80's. (I know!) LOL
BTW...going to see them next friday in Kingston ...that's April 21 people. Let's rock!

That was really good, I am glad I watched that all the way through. Very moving, what a great fan base. those people all looked so cool. That looked fun.
If I'm not mistaken, Rob didn't make one "mistake" during his solo. Never once hit the snare frame...or any other drum frame for that matter. It's like a hole-in-one drum solo.
Hitting the rims is not a mistake it is part of the drumkit.

Honestly I didn’t know enough about Anvil back in the day but the movie told a great story that made me want to root for them. The ONE thing that bands like ANVIL have as currency that CANNOT be taken away is their musical history It’s simply something that cannot be duplicated I hope they always do well they certainly deserve it

Wow the Netflix documentary made I️t seem like these guys were up there with Metallica and anthrax and all these bands and that they just weren’t at the right place at the right time... after watching this the real problem is obvious. They need a lead guitar player, and a lead vocalist would have been a nice addition but not 100% necessary. Lips is perfect at rhythm guitar. And he’s a good singer.
Wha? His leads are great! They need some backing vocals and a rhythm guitar would be nice, but the leads are fantastic.
The documentary paints them as being some kind of guys that never got their shot but just listen and that's actually why. Plus look at the Wacken pen they are in compared to say. Immortal or Arch enemy. Dated fist rock

I saw more than 500 live shows in my life, some of them at Wacken Open Air Festival, let me tell you one thing, a good live show is when the artist on the stage enjoying himself, i never saw Anvil live and it's a shame, Lips said on that show that he's having the best time of his life, what a great moment for him and for the band, these guys are a living legends!!!
I completely respect what these guys do, their honesty for music and what they stand for. I mean no disrespect to the band but they need a second lead guitar player that is completely different than them to add some flavor. Shorten up some of the songs to keep the listener interested. A fantastic lead player and the best producer around could change things a lot.
True in a way. They deserve a second guitar player. But I guess it's a matter of money. They may be financially a bit better off after their documentary but sure ain't making millions.

I Love - Anvil - the best power metal, Lips and Rob - masters ! Rob is a perfect drummer. Lips is a perfect guitarist. They are both wonderful, I love this band for over 36 years!
