I grew up with Harvest Moon, so it'll always be the best version for me - I just feel like the characters are more memorable because of the rival heart events, the festivals are better, and a Stardew Valley always felt heavily inspired by Harvest Moon to the point wherein it felt a little bit like a copy. I haven't gotten far into Rune Factory 4 to say just yet, but I've heard that it's great too; the Rune Factory series seems to leverage its story telling and combat system more. :)
