Jack, Barbara Streisand is one of the greatest singers of the 20th and 21st centuries. You don't know her singing because you're very young. She's made hits since the 1960s.
With a career spanning over six decades, Barbra Streisand has achieved success in multiple fields of entertainment, and is among the few performers awarded an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony (EGOT). She began her career by performing in nightclubs and Broadway theaters in the early 1960s. Following her guest appearances on various television shows, she signed to Columbia Records, insisting that she retain full artistic control, and accepting lower pay in exchange, an arrangement that continued throughout her career, and released her debut The Barbra Streisand Album (1963), which won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Throughout her recording career, Streisand has topped the US Billboard 200 chart with 11 albums (a record for a woman until 2023) including People (1964), The Way We Were (1974), Guilty (1980), and The Broadway Album (1985). She also achieved five number-one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100: "The Way We Were", "Evergreen", "You Don't Bring Me Flowers", "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)", and "Woman in Love." With sales exceeding 150 million records worldwide, Streisand is one of the best-selling recording artists of all time. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), she is the second highest-certified female artist in the United States, with 68.5 million certified album units. Billboard ranked Streisand as the greatest solo artist on the Billboard 200 chart and the top Adult Contemporary female artist of all time. Her accolades include two Academy Awards, 10 Grammy Awards including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and the Grammy Legend Award, five Emmy Awards, four Peabody Awards, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and nine Golden Globes.
Arguably two of the greatest singers of the 20th century- along with Whitney Houston. Barbra is legendary- do yourself a HUGE favor and check out Enough Is Enough with Barbra and Donna Summer. You disco dreams will all be fulfilled.
Barbra has recorded approximately 45 duets with artists ranging from Celine to Donna Summer to Ray Charles to Sinatra to Barry Gibb. She's the only recording artist to have had #1 albums in six consecutive decades. 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00's, and 10's. Until this year when she was passed by Taylor Swift, she had the most #1 albums of any female recording artist. She's released 73 albums (52 gold and 31 platinum) including 36 studio, 11 live, 11 compilations, and 15 soundtracks. She was the first female to win an Oscar for composing ("Evergreen", theme to her 1976 version of "A Star Is Born"). 46 Grammy nominations, 8 wins, Life Time Achievement Award, Grammy Legened, and MusicCares Person of The Year. Two Oscars, 5 Emmys, a Tony. Movies? The only female in the list of top 10 actors drawing in the most at the box office for the 70s decade. So, she's a bit of an icon herself. 😊 You mentioned the Bee Gees, check out Streisand's "Guilty" album from 1980. All songs (minus one) writtend specifically for Barbra by the Bee Gees, and album produced by Barry and his team. The single "Woman In Love" and the album both went to #1, with two duets with Barry, "Guilty" and "What Kind of Fool", going top 10. You might consider those three for your reaction list. I'd add "Make It Like a Memory" from the same album. Celine said her mother her was her "personal idol" and Barbra her "professional idol". There's a "behind the scenes" of the making of this video. Celine said singing with Barbra was easy as she had listened to her growing up and was so familiar with her voice, her phrasing, pacing, etc. Thank you for your great reaction to these gifted women!
Thank you, David... you saved me so much time writing this out. I just love when you find these before I do. 😉 I'm always so amused and a bit amazed when they only know Barbra as basically Roz Focker... and then they hear that voice. Hope this young man will react to more.

Barry Gibb said it best..."There are the 10 greatest female artists...and then there's Barbra Streisand." Check out their live duet performance of "What Kind Of Fool".
You have to listen to "A Piece Of Sky", one of the most complicated songs to perform.... And Barbra, without a doubt, is the most technical singer in the entire industry! When you research and find out how much Techniques that she knows, and with mastery, you wonder if it is possible! Like, all the music techniques, she does with ease, and without having studied when she was young! Something natural
I didn't appreciate "Tell him" and "Immortality" too much back in the day😧 So I guess now I'm making up for it😊 Barbara is an amazing , *amazing* vocalist! I just recently discovered it myself. I promise to request her more in the future. This duet simply takes your breath away doesn't? Thanks for reacting💖
I can't believe there are so many young people like you, who love music, who have so little knowledge of how great Barbra Streisand is. Exceptional singer, actress and director. You should trace his impressive career. When Celine started, Barbra was already a Giant. Greetings from Tandil, Argentina! 🇦🇷🤗
You should hear barbra's "A Piece of Sky." It's amazing and she holds a ~20 second note in the end belted!! HER VOICE IS UNREAL. YES, SHE CAN SING ALONG LEGENDS!!
Barbra' s vibrato is second to none, the warmth in her voice, the powerful notes and the control of her voice means that she has been my idol since the age of 11 in 1982. At the time of this recording Barbra was 55 years old and a career record already filled as possible. Her live performances in the 70s surpassed all the singers of the time. She will surprise us again in 1983 with the song "a piece of sky" from the film Yentl at the end of which she holds a powerful note for 19 seconds without weakening. Barbra the best for me...
Thank you for including the link to send you suggestions because Barbra Streisand many people would say has the greatest voice ever and I am one of those people she has nearly 50 albums to choose from movie, soundtracks live concert performances, etc. - she’s 81 now and all of her hits and her time in the spotlight were before you were listening to music so I can see how you are not familiar with her but it’s funny when I hear somebody say oh she can sing because she’s the best selling female artist in American history with nearly 70 million albums sold
My mom & grandma LOVED Barbra Streisand! She was a mega-star from the 1960s to the mid-90s. Broadway & movies. Oscars, Tony Awards, Emmys. She was all that!
I am envious of all these children (sorry Jack) who will be experiencing the insane vocal talent of Barbra Streisand for the first time. With a recording career that spans over 50 yrs., and with over 60 albums, there is a treasure trove of material for you to enjoy. I recommend you pace yourselves accordingly and chronologically; starting with "My Name is Barbra".
great reaction :D cheers. barbra has for me one of the best voices this planet has ever seen. absolutely love her, and this as a duet, just wow. their voices blend and match so well. beautiful. (barbra has a massive collection for you to look at)
Since you asked, I would say that Streisand's discography is, well, the biggest - of any female popular singer at least. Her first #1 album was in 1964 and her latest in 2016. Women simply don't last that long in the American music business. Even half that time is extremely rare. It's probably the only fact one needs to have that immediately identifies Barbra Streisand as a singularly unique, remarkably successful recording artist. And the reason for that unprecedented success is that her talent as a vocalist is simply stunning. Some might even call it otherworldly.
Barbara has been singing and acting since the 60s. Check out her song People, Somewhere and Memories (theme from the play CATS). Her voice is phenomenal
Barbra Streisand is on of the finest vocalists we've ever had since the early 60's. Her music career and discography is probably close to 70 or more albums, and countless hit singles. She started performing on Broadway and then began a solo singing career which is HUGE......as big as her movie career as an actress and director.
Definitely one of my 3 tops duo of all times and by the way in that time they became friends and Celine comes visit Barbara in New York from time to time they are long time friends now I know because she said so in an interview
Iconic yes - but it depends which generation you're talking to really. To me, they are both iconic. And if you include Celine's french albums her discography is pretty massive too! I love both of them 😁

The way I see it, talent is being able to sing on pitch. (difficult enough), but these 2 are not just talented, but skilled and experienced artists with the highest standards, and without mechanical/electronic enhancements. It's their style of singing that also differentiates them. When I was your age, I wasn't attracted by that style, but as I saw Barbra in Plays & Movies, I grew to appreciate her more. Celine is also accomplished, but mostly in Canada and sang in French at first, so I didn't grow up with her. I find her a little nasal in her singing, too, a French trait)
If you like the bee gees Barbra has an entire album produced by Barry Gibb. They have two duets you should check out “Guilty” and “What Kind Of Fool”. Also her song “Woman in love” was written by Barry and Ron Gibb and has that classic Beegees sound
I was watching and waiting for your shock and awe and you did not disappoint! Lmao they did that. Every time I hear this song I get goosebumps. "Tell Him" is the lead single from Barbra's album Higher Ground and Celine's album Let's Talk About Love, all released in 1997. ''espically dion'' Damn, i'm french, and i know how Streisand was a queen before Dion knew how to sing ( something like 1995-1999, with Jean Jacques Goldman, tell him is registred in 1997; you can see Dion's works in two years ...between "j'irai ou tu iras" live 1995 and the 1999 one ) Why do young people dont know about Streisand anymore ? what happend ?
That year, Barbra and Celine were slated to perform this LIVE on the Grammy's. But last-minute Streisand came down with a sore throat and had to bow-out . Celine instead sang My Heart Will Go On from that sinking ship movie. It would have been a glorious live performance, if it had happened. Personally, good chance Barbra just decided not to do it - partly due to her lazy personality (takes long periods of time off between projects) and perhaps didn't want to be eclipsed by Celine - you have to admit the best parts of the song were given to Celine to sing. Barbra's parts do play second fiddle to Celine's parts - and it would have shown in the live performance. 65% is Celine, while 35% is Barbra - more or less. This is also a reminder that Streisand and Donna Summer never sang their super hit No More Tears live. Another missed opportunity.
Barbra and Celine have never actually sung together - ever. They recorded their parts separately and when this song became a hit - Streisand backed out of singing it live with the Celine at the Grammy Awards. Because Celine was so much younger and her voice was much more beautiful and powerful than Streisand's LIVE. Celine was a much bigger recording star at that time. Barbra is famously - difficult and egotistical. That said - Streisand and Aretha are Celine's vocal idols. They made this pretty video to sell the song - where Celine shows respect - and Barbra looks and sounds great. But they have never sung together, not even in the studio.

If you like the bee gees Barbra has an entire album produced by Barry Gibb. They have two duets you should check out “Guilty” and “What Kind Of Fool”. Also her song “Woman in love” was written by Barry and Ron Gibb and has that classic Beegees sound
What an iconic duo and duet. Love the reaction!! ❤
I was watching and waiting for your shock and awe and you did not disappoint! Lmao they did that. Every time I hear this song I get goosebumps. "Tell Him" is the lead single from Barbra's album Higher Ground and Celine's album Let's Talk About Love, all released in 1997. It was a top-10 commercial success across Europe and Australia and garnered a nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals at the 1998 Grammy Awards.
I remember this song, it’s so beautiful. I remember in one of my HS classes my teacher would play Barbra Streisand music so I grew to love her songs.
one of my favorite duet
Dude. The icon is Streisand. She’s been an icon since the 60s.
100% true!
They both are so great
You should do You Don't Bring Me Flowers. That one is a gem.
I saw you get the goosebumps lol! And ummmm. Barbara is huge LOL! Celine is just amazing, you should check out more of her stuff! "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic is a must...."It's All Coming Back To Me Now"..."I'm Alive"....theres so many
Barbara's Women in Love, Celine's To Love You More and I Surrender are all amazing power ballads that you will LOVE. Cheers from Canada! :)
omg this duet is so amazing. i remember i first heard this song and i was blown awayyy!
Barbara Streisand is the greatest singer of all time. More Grammys Oscar’s & she’s a phenomenal actress.
Just type in Celine Dion live . She is insane.
Barbra is amazing as always also.
Barbra has recorded over 70 albums!!!! and was in her 50s while Celine was in her 20s
The Best duet❤
Hi Jack sorry for my poor previous message . I didn't have my glasses on ha ha. It should have read like this. Please react to Celine dion - That's the way it is. This song is such a VIBES
Huge Fans of both these Ladiies!!!
Check out Barbra Yentl Medley live 1994 Anaheim
The movie's you saw Barbara Streisand in...she song in all of them 😊
Weeeelll...only 6 of 19 were musicals, though she sang the theme song to a couple that weren't musicals. "The Way We Were" and "I Finally Found Someone" with Brian Adams.😊
@@BrettTwinSavage You're getting SO much better Brett. I read your first post with all those facts and stats but couldn't find a single error! For this post....not bad, but I can't help pointing out that you omitted "You're the Top" and "The Main Event."
Still, you get a gold record for improvement. 🤩
@@richardherdman2121 D'oh!!! It was late (or very early!) and I was in a fog by the time I got around here! I thought I'd let you handle on the misspellings of her name here! 😆. By the way, do you know where else it's misspelled on the Grammy website!!
@@BrettTwinSavage I figured there was a valid excuse - you're pardoned. As far as all these "lifetime super-fans" who can't be bothered to spell her name correctly.......don't even get me started.
Misspelled on the Grammy website! It's this digital age, they've fired all the copy editors. Or maybe just a failed wannabe singer at the Grammy website who gets her kicks by ribbing the greatest singer of all time.
@@richardherdman2121 Yes! On the Grammy website it is spelled with that third...no...I can't say it. 🤫 Anywho, I've half a mind to write this thing called a letter to Mr. Grammy and file a complaint. Hmmmpf. (BTW...I was on the site to ensure accuracy, but now I'm questioning my faith in the Recording Academy! Whataworld! Whataworld! 🧹)
a fourth of their reviews are probably from me alone lol
Keep discovering celine pleaseee you will be surprised
He’s not heart the power of the dream or All by myself 😂
''espically dion'' Damn, i'm french, and i know how Streisand was a queen before Dion knew how to sing ( something like 1995-1999, with Jean Jacques Goldman, tell him is registred in 1997; you can see Dion's works in two years ...between "j'irai ou tu iras" live 1995 and the 1999 one ) Why do young people dont know about Streisand anymore ? what happend ?
I'm a 35 year old gay guy, and this is the kind of conversation I've had with my niece.. Just without the musical background
Babs schooled Celine how to belt!
David Foster Produced it. The guy that did I will always love you.
Do more Barbara especially Barbara' with Donna summer
Just checking if you reacted to Celine Dion My heart will go on ?
You should listen to Yentl sung by Barbara and Surrender by Celine
You have to listen to Celine Dion and Andrea Boccelli The Prayer. It will blow your mind
Jack...do more Babs. Love her voice, hate her politics. You need to watch sung with Barry Gibbs.
Bro react for her song SOUL
Streisand is a talented singer? You've just heard. Ha. Okay.
Listen to Celine Dion, Calling You, Live in Paris. You're welcome.
Not for me but y’all enjoy. ✌🏽
Barbara was way before celine
