Dr. Hashmi, thank you so much for all of your detailed and easy-to-follow explanations!! And to top it off, you are such a humble and modest person, it is a priviledge to have found your channel!
Love your wise words of advice to your daughters...'treat everyone with kindness'...i must remember to do it too, and to pass your words to everyone. Thank you.
High sodium and especially high sugar are the biggest offenders for kidney disease in my opinion. Dehydration can cause kidney failure in healthy people. Lack of potassium foods vs high sodium consumption can cause kidney damage. Certain drugs can cause kidney injury... this is just to name a few factors we are working with. Generally the elderly suffers from gut malabsorption.
In china people have lots of kidney transplants. Probably because they use to much sauces full of salt. Probably most have table salt, not even seasalt. My dog had kidney/liver 5:56 failure because of pain meds ( painmed/anti inflamatoir ) the first week using them. Also antibiotics which caused necrotic fasshiitis and also caused kidney/liver failure. The anti fever med also damaged him, because the body could not fight the infection/sepsis with lower body themperature. All meds damaged my dog and i had to xxx.😢
Thank you as I am at the beginning of stage one kidney disease and I also take a protein supplement! I am 76 years old at 75" tall and 190 pounds. I run three times a week and train with heavy weights (for me) three times per week and eat chicken twice a week, four eggs in an omelet twice a week, and fish three times a week. I take a full range of supplements including, but not limited to Athletic Green and Turmeric and Berberine. I went to a doctor who told me to the effect: "Oh no, no, no, no don't you know you are killing yourself - become a vegetarian immediately, and what ever you do don't ever, ever, ever do any vigorous exercise. Ever! All you have to do is to drink more water not coffee oh no, no, no don't ever drink coffee bad for you bad for you! So the bottom line is there is a lot of conflict over what to do may I suggest you have a show with Dr. Berry on it and have this discussion again since I like you both! Oh yes I'm proud of the fact that I've had no alcohol for a year, and no sugar and/or salt. In the morning I also eat blue berries, black berries, straw berries, watermelon, and cantaloupe, with onions in almond milk! Not bad! Oh yes thanks to David Sinclair I am not an OMAD! And that wasn't easy to do either!
Hi Doc, I hope you're doing well and thank you for sharing all of this amazing information on caring for kidney disease. I have PKD and I've followed a plant based, mainly vegan, diet for approximately 7 years now. I most recently returned to the gym for weight lifting in order to build some muscle, and I wanted to know if it's safe for me to practice taking an essential amino acids supplements?
I'm at stage 3 . And I always lock of sleep because of my work. Now I feel tightness in my left chest which I'm afraid a heart problem. And the waste build up in my body is starting and my legs are starting to sweell because of salt intake . The cook here in our shop put a lot of sodium in our food. That's why it's so hard for me... Because I see some small black spots around my body specially in my face.. please pray for me. I'm in a plant base diet now. But it's hard for me since I'm working on a commercial vessel. I cannot control the balance food which I need. In August 30 I will go home. And try to regain my condition back to be better
I will most definitely pray for you. In the meantime try fasting it really works, it's difficult to get started but after a while it becomes a way of life. It would really renew your life. Look up Dr Jason fung on UA-cam
I always catch the tail end of everything... but this is worth saving to listen to later. I've done a lot of research. From what I did hear... this is pretty solid information. Again... I'm going to ask if you have videos on gut microbiome? What I've seen there seems to be a link from what you consume... and effects your stomach first and slowly trickles down to other organs such as liver and kidneys.
I am over 65 and I cut my protein but I notice I am losing muscle mass. I have slight protein leakage and at stage 2b - 3a. I started lifting weights about 6 weeks ago so I am happy to hear I need to increase my protein consumption. This study makes sense to me because there are studies about longevity and muscle mass is a big factor. My biggest problem since I had surgery removing 1 kidney is fatigue. For the past 10 years fatigue is getting worse over time. I now have CFS that has gradually gotten worse and now that is one of my biggest problems. Is it toxins in the blood for kidney disease or something else. That is what I am working on to find out. One reason is I can only sleep 4-6 hours a night, usually 5. But my strength is not as good anymore.
@Valsa2018 The Best salt you can use are Celtic Salt it has 82 minerals no contaminated as well as the Himalayan salt it has also lots of minerals but less than the Celtic the table salt we use us rubbish

Will a plant protein diet for people over 75 with stage 3 ckd cause other health deficits because most plant protein lacks amino acids?

What is the research on the protein intake on CKD guidelines? Are these guidelines based on research?
since the study was conduct during the height of the pandemic should we expect that some of the excessive number of deaths (approx. 15%) were due to COVID ?
This study contradicts virtually every other low protein recommendation that you (and others) have made in the past. Sigh.
Isn't keto dieting bad for your kidneys ?
It hurts mine. I'm now on the veggie and bean train with just a little meat
Hi Kashi
Is this true
No medication has been able to treat my proteinuria so far which proves proteinuria has no cure!
Hmmmmmmm is not easy ooo
