To paraphrase a line from a movie, “One can spend a lifetime searching for the perfect blossom…”. I used to believe that, yet here it is. To be a little more encompassing, all of these Japanese groups demonstrate exceptional beauty. There is almost something spiritual in their talent. ❤️🌸
“Heavy AND catchy.” That sums it up. MAYU is a phenomenal and versatile vocalist, as she demonstrates on a variety of Japanese cover songs from NEMOPHILA. My favorites are One Night Carnival ( ua-cam.com/video/S4Eu59fIysM/v-deo.html ) and Don’t Say Lazy ( ua-cam.com/video/EqSWOLsSj7Q/v-deo.html ). For a real shock, listen to their cover of Make You Happy ( ua-cam.com/video/pbl1KEPgWvk/v-deo.html ). These ladies all have been in other bands before MAYU brought them together. SAKI played for years with Mary’s Blood. Listen to an older song, Marionette ( ua-cam.com/video/MLM2unV0kwU/v-deo.html ). You can see HAZUKI playing with the Lisa-X Band here - ua-cam.com/video/fFxdWRgBxMg/v-deo.html
They are really on par with the greats like Iron Maiden, and they are only 4 years in so far. Saki and Hazuki are probably in the top 5 lead rock guitarist right now with Kanami from Band-Maid, and Matsuri from Hanabie is no slouch, and Love Bites has a couple of shredders as well. I haven't gotten to them yet. And MISA and Haraguchi-san on bass...Akane and Tamu in drums...shows what a country's investment in early music education can do.
I wanted to say that one of the reasons why there are so many amazing musicians in Japan is the compulsory universal music education. Every school has not one, but several music and choreography teachers. And children study from primary school to high school, and in high school they are recommended to music clubs at schools, where groups that participate in competitions are often already formed. In addition, almost all famous musicians come to schools to give demonstration lessons. Therefore, meeting a 21 year old girl who already plays the guitar masterfully with 4-5 years of experience is not a problem.
Nemophila's versatility is unmatched in my opinion, such a skilled band. But this isn't what I would say is among their super heavy stuff, so, I present to you a small selection of the 'Nemophila scale of heaviness': Low - Change The World, Now I Here, Waiting For You Mid - Seize The Fate, Sorai, Monsters High - Zen, Oiran, Dissension They also have a variety of styles too, from pop-punk to nu metal to old school thrash to metalcore, they really are just phenomenal. If you want the HEAVY, they recently released the live performance of Zen and I cannot recommend it enough, it's outstanding.
It's true that they can play with any band in the world. In fact, the woman (Saki) who played the guitar until the end is also the guitarist of Frédéric Leclercq's new project ``AMAHIRU''.
These ladies no these musicians are some of the best I have heard in a very long time. Yet when they do interviews they don’t come across as full of themselves , seem to be down to earth approachable and humble despite being goddesses of metal.
great reaction. They do get heavier than this too. Try their new live one Zen they just released. Also Oiran Live. Adabana is a great song MV. Dissension and Revive are also other bangers. Seen them live in Dallas. Blew the roof off the place. Amazing band. My favorite metal band in the world at the moment. Great thing about them too is why they are metal they also play straight up good rock music too even a little poppy every once in awhile. They have 2 albums out both amazing and have done some great covers over years too. These ladies kick ass!
Between Lovebites, Band-Maid & Nemophila all are incredible musicians with dynamic front women. Something about 5 ft +- Japanese women being cooler than all of us.
Yes there something else world class in all aspects .I watched this concert live on line my GF came in worried that some thing was wrong as normally i am bopping along head going but for about the first few songs i was drop jawed unable to comprehend the level of awesomeness i was seeing .I have to see them live lets hope they come to the uk soon .There the queens of Heavy with a very bright future .
Hi Mike I'm new to your channel yes japanese female metal bands are rocking but Nemophila they are just on another level seriously another level 👌🤘 peace from the UK ✌️
Next songs same live show ZEN(more heavy), Revive, Dissension, Raitei, cover songs latest WALK(PANTERA)... ASTERISM songs Dawn, Rising Moon, Church, Blaze, Gunfire.... this 3piece Metal Band will make your jaw dropped.....
Yep, with Japan, rock and metal has found a damn good new home. 🔥🤘🏻 Bass player, huh? Well, I guess you might have seen the name 'Gacharic Spin' recommended in the comments. If not, shame on our heads! I think you might like their MV to 'Mindset'. Oh, and the bassist's name is 'F Choppa Koga' (or short, FCK or Koga). Doesn't sound too uninteresting either, does it? 😇 This talented woman is also one of the founders of the band back in 2009, together with drummer Hana. :) Greetings from Germany. 🙋🏻♂ ___________________ 「 _"完璧なんてありえない" / Perfection? This the only band I have heard that can match the musicianship of Band Maid obviously a different genre. They are made up from an Allstar cast of the top female metal musicians in Japan. The 2 guitarist are considered prodigy's and are both playing their own signature models from there respective brands. The drummer is considered one of the top female drummers in the world. Japan has no shortage of amazing female drummers....and the vocalist....Lets just say you haven't heard anything yet !!!! She is the best female metal vocalist out there. Check out Adabana....Dissension,,,,Monster....Revive and my new fav Hypnosis. Before I heard they band I didn't even listen to metal
If you want to sample the less 'pop-friendly mainstream vocals' try "Oiran" (there are multiple official live versions, the most recent one is best in my opinion) or "Revive" live. As for heavier songs to see as a music video try "Rise" or "Adabana" (there aren't official live versions yet). All four of these songs are about half and half screaming and singing. Catchy choruses is common with Nemophila so I'd say they all still have that feature. For something entirely different try "Night Flight" (live or MV is fun) which is a fun 80s disco inspired song, or "Hypnosis" which has kind of Arabian influences musically. Then there's the other side of Nemophila - their power ballads. These are "Life" (the official version from three years ago is best) and "now I here" live.
I’d love for you to react to their most recent live video for their song Zen. Not sure if you’d love it because it’s super heavy and nonstop, but I’d love you to see how crazy they can get
Your reaction at about 7:00 is very honest and therefore so likeable. The main reason why so many Japanese female bands play in another league of rock and metal far above most bands from the US / UK is the following: Most of them are daughters from middle class families, learning piano at the age of 3 or 4 years and at the age of about 15 the chose their main instrument, ex. drums or guitar etc. The driving force behind their music is a revolt against the traditional Japanese society with the constraint roles for girls and women. In addition, J-pop and anime industry makes it easier to make a living as a musician. There are a lot of (private) music schools, female only music competitions and a whole music infrastructure. The US market is dominated by a handful of big enterprises which take decisions about style and music of a newcomer band, not so much the musicians themselves. That's why most US songs are so streamlined to the taste of average listeners and hence boring. The Japanese bands are not in the same way chained by their producers. Many US reactors say "these bands are so talented". For sure they are. But they also did undergo a kind of (often painful) "military-style drill", years of daily disciplined practising and training. I'm no so sure you would be in their place😇😜.
My 2 favorite bands are The Warning and Nemophila. I’ve seen The Warning 3 times. Nemophila did a short tour through the U.S. I want to see them so bad. They recently dropped a live performance of my favorite song Zen. Check it out. Seriously check it out. I there is another version that sounds good but looks blurry, however there is a bass solo. Let me know if you want it. It’s on UA-cam channel or I can get it.
Nice! But this is definitely not one of their heaviest songs. "zen", "dissension", "oiran", "rise", "a ray of light", etc. are all heavier than this song😉🤘🏻🌸🤘🏻

Me gustó mucho amigo! Tremenda presentación y cantante ❤ saludos.
I can listen to a bass solo all day long ! Misa from Band-Maid is my favorite, but Haraguchi_son can slay with the best !! 😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘

Some people say that rock is not dead, it just moved to Japan. And women are at the forefront.

the Japanese music scene is overflowing with talent in every genre...most of the interesting ones (IMO) are women it seems...

Zen and Now I here live back to back would be an interesting look for someone new to Nemophila. Both ends of their level of heavy to soft spectrum.
