    Honestly mate, they both sounded good, the EQ'd version does indeed pop out more, especially on the palm-mutes. Well done!

      Haha, I should have used a 'not-so-great' amp sim and then you would of noticed way more of a difference.

    I slightly like the before EQ version more, it sounds so fleshy and more 1990 numetal. Nowadays all the mixes tend to be so insanely bright and the guitars fizz more than ever before with high gain. Both sounds are still awesome! Keep it up!

      The guitars already sounded good. The strange thing is that he's cutting out frequencies completely blind. Doesn't listen as it becomes, doesn't compare. Just by methodology. It's certainly not about the sound, it's some kind of algorithm in his head unreasonable. Also, the shelf-bell switch is actually lower :)

    I always just recorded two different tones for each guitar track. One pretty saturated with as much gain and then with a more crunch tone so I could get the more “scrapey” (idk how else to describe it) tones. Then blend them to where it still sounds heavy and saturated but you still get the nice glassy sound of a crunch tone. This seems much more applicable and time saving than my cavemanish method haha.

      Also, I tend to hate having too much low end so I never boosted anything on the bass end of the spectrum. Gonna try the 150 boost to see if that gives me the thump I love in modern guitar tones. I really appreciate the insight.

      I used to like using two different amp tones on the left and right tracked guitars. But lately I just use a stereo instance of it for both guitar tracks to go through. Gives a more unified sound. But using different ampbtones on each track does have is place at times.

    4:00 4kHz isn't really jumps out, but the 3,2-3,3. I really don't understad how can you do eq without listening it, just "knowing" where resonant frequencies are.

    Really cool tutorial man. Thanks for that. I also bought the II II II because of your review on it. It's now my favorite sim. Reid is cool as hell too. Stay safe.

    Thanks for the advice I'm going to implement your tips, could you make a video on how to get a baritone tone from a standard length guitar neck? I have a tagima jazzmaster and I'm really inspired by loathe but I cant afford a real baritone so I've been trying to get a baritone tone out of this guitar but something is missing.

    • @GaryHiebner
      @GaryHiebner  3 роки тому

      There are ways to get lower ona standard scale. But there's a compromise. Obviously with Loathe they tuning to Drop E and even down to B0. And with the 30-inch scale length baritones that helps with going lower. I'd say you could get down to about G# with some thicker strings and a proper setup. And then you can use a pitching shifting effect with a plugin or with like the Dogitech Drop pedal to get down to E1. But maybe I will do a video on it. Thanks for the suggestion

      @@GaryHiebner I actually am tuned all the way down to c# the tuning they use for gored and there is enough tension & it plays fine but there is a but of string buzz & it just doesnt sound like a true baritone. I even have thicker gauge strings, I'm looking forward to that video if you decide to make it. Thanks!

    Have you run into any phase issues with this approach?

    Very informative, this really helps!!! If I could make a suggestion for a future video, how about an in depth look at an SSL channel strip?

    • @GaryHiebner
      @GaryHiebner  3 роки тому +1

      Good idea. The SSL style channelstrip is so versatile. And it colors the sou ds in such a cool way

  • @Fiveash-Art

    I'd never give that company SSL another cent of my money after that piece of junk interface I bought the 'SSL2'. Their plug-ins might be ok, but stay far away from their hardware. At least the budget friendly stuff. It's all hype. ... Informative video by the way. 👍🏻
