I lived in Sydney for 32 years brother was born and raised there, moved to Adelaide 6 years ago amd I'm never going back.....absolutely love this place
Drove from Brisbane to Adelaide, Had some car issues... stayed an extra night, Went out on the clubs... stayed another night... Somehow the night life and the day life equal each other out so well, That feeling refreshed after a night out just comes with it

Central Market is definitely a gem of Adelaide. Really high-quality foods without the snubbyness. Some of the best restaurants are around there too. If you love a steak Gaucho's Argentinian restaurant just across the road from the market are well known for their steaks - bit pricey but top-notch!

Edit: this is why Adelaide people whinge when they come to Sydney and get half the quality for four times the price. I mean, yeah, Adelaide is dull as fuck when you're young, but once you hit your 30s, you start to see why it makes sense.

Adelaide is underrated in general. Great beaches, wine and the traffic is very manageable and flows well. Plenty of great food too.

I agree. But the ones in Sydney are not really yiros but kebabs which is Turkish.
Adelaide's yiros history began with Greek migration, yiros wraps made with herbed lamb and chicken, while Sydney began with Turkish people and their version with the minced beef meat (which I personally don't like the taste of) that's spiced.

As a Melbournian I'm happy and sad that Adelaide has "the best coffee". I've always said that if I move interstate, it'd be Adelaide over Brisbane
So many 10/10 coffee spots here, definitely check out Beach Organics at Plant 4 Bowden if you ever end up in SA haha

Was going to say the same, it is called Saudade. Being Portuguese, I can never get enough of them. They are as authentic as you can get them outside of Portugal.

Just got back from a trip to Adelaide, went to the Market 4 times and enjoyed it each time. Really recommend Adelaide for truely great food absolutely huge variety, Nan at the Information Centre is a legend! Go the Crows!!

You must have visited on either a Monday or Wednesday for so many shops to be closed at 10am. If you visit again go on a Friday night or Saturday morning
I think one thing that you mentioned after the falafel wrap is so true, here in South Australia we are maaad proud of our local food, we are incredibly patriotic about locally sourced ingredients within our state. Makes for a unique and super fresh food and wine culture here.

If you’re still in Adelaide PLEASE pay a visit to plant 4 and plant 3 in Bowden (just over the highway from north adelaide), the burgers at Caro Club are the best we’ve ever had!

Yes, our Central Market in Adelaide can't be beaten, it's our local treasure, there's also another coffee/juice and homemade pizza 🍕 stall and their backlavas and home made pizzas are amazing, also Lucia's have a salad section and they are to die for!, if you had just gave yourself a healthy chance, you would of enjoyed it, and if you head outside to the Grote Street entrance, there's a place called Sudadae, they sell the best Portuguese Tarts which are to die for!, you need to go back and get some, happy eating, first time watching your channel, Love it!!😀😋🙂**

Moved away from Adelaide about a year ago now and fuck me lad missing the food and coffee scene is on par with missing my family 😂
I lived in Adelaide for 11 years. Never liked fancy food or coffee until I lived there.
My ex-father in law owns one of the cafes in the Central Markets.

Hey Spanian, I hope when you go to Rome you do a city review or something of the sort. Don't just limit yourself to food, your commentary on literally anything is entertaining, and cities are so diverse and unique I would enjoy watching it.
Spanian if you ever go to Rome make sure to go to the following 3 places, all cheap and cheerful unbelievably good authentic local food:
• Tonnarello in Trastevere (for Roman carbonara)
• Pizzeria Da Baffetto (for Roman style pizza)
• Two Sizes (for the best authentic Tiramisù, 30 seconds walk from Baffetto)
3:30 what you should do spanian is find people from homeless shelters/on the street etc. and bring them along so when you don’t want to finish the food you can give them a meal
You should do the three big Mexican joints and see who’s better! Mad Mex, Guzman y gomez and Zambrero. Cheers Span

The Adelaide Central Market used to be the Jewel in Crown of Markets in the World. Grand cathedral like ceilings with stained glass and massive beams of exposed timber. The fruit stalls were emporiums of the most gloriously displayed over the top presentation you have ever imagined. This was before the grubberment stuck the concrete slab carport in its place. All these eateries you visit are not what makes the market what it has become so famous the world over for. The corporate Adelaide City Council are destroying the actual function and soul of the Market day by day. They need to destroyed before they destroy the market and turn it into eateries.I have grown up here, lived and worked here as a fishmonger for many years and I am a sixth generation Adelaidean. It is a place of my fondest memories. I rarely go there anymore because of what the council and so called 'public servants' are turning it into.
The best thing this series has highlighted other then the amazing food is how much Sydney lacks in customer service, Melbourne and Adelaide the service is so much better..

The Central Market is one of the best bits (well probably THE best bit) about living in Adelaide.
Next time you're over here, you should do one of your hood walks in Elizabeth and Davoren Park. It'd make an interesting comparison to the hoods on the East Coast.

If I was introducing anyone to the Dutch licorice I would start them on the coins or cats as they are much more approachable for first timers. I certainly wouldn't give the DZ's, this stands for Dubbel Zout and translates to double salt. The little diamonds are beauts in small quantities.
My wife and I will be in Adelaide next month and we will be going to the market.
