  • People have been procrastinating for thousands of years.
    Just like you, they put things off, they delayed, they made excuses, they hoped deadlines would never come due. This caused them anxiety, it pissed their colleagues and families off, it created problems and most of all it wasted time. Twenty centuries ago, the Roman era Stoic philosopher Seneca joked that the one thing fools all have in common is that they are always getting ready to live. But they never do it.
    Is that who you want to be? Of course not. This video will help you take ownership of your life.

      Many good points here, especially limiting your daily tasks to 3 things and finding a way to make them fun. Woody Allen is famous for saying 90 percent of success is just showing up, and I've found that to be true too. I would add the Beth Dutton quote from 'Yellowstone": Don't let anyone ever outwork you," which probably falls under Point 7.

    1. Whats the one thing I wanna do today
    2. Routine: wake up early, big task first, three task per day, exercise, end work at 5, dinner with family, bath kids, read to kids.
    3. Be crystal clear what to do, how to get there
    4. not be reachable (Napoleon waited three weeks to open mail, most resolved themselves)
    5. how do i get started? not how do I get there.
    6. focus, being concentrated
    7. how to get others to rise? put them in context where they strive, shake people up.
    8. be on top it, know your deadlines, warn early if you miss them, show you know your time and how manage it.

    I didn’t start being “unreachable,” until I had kids. That gave me a self-perceived reason to segment my day. A few years later I realize that my kids aren’t the only reason to be unreachable, but that was a big turning point in my overall productivity.

    I believe one of the best things about stoicism is being your best self in life for no more importance than to self. In turn you become a beacon of light to others in search of meaning. It’s much better than trying to impress others only to make yourself feel less important.

    It seems very simple.
    The most important part in my opinion (and liveexperience as a Chief Master Procrastinator) is show up every day. And start with the most important task!
    I tend to show up and the do boring stuff like going through all my emails. Then I am wasted and rest and loose the drive that I did not have from the beginning.

    Where do you stand on the concept of leisure activities? Regarding the question of ‘whether this task is essential’ it would seem that leisure activities are non-essential but it’s unreasonable to expect a human to dedicate their lives only to work and duties. By most definitions, reading a non work related book and going for a walk are both ‘non-essential ‘ ( ie we will not die and we will not lose our job if we forego these activities) but life would have very little value without them.

    I would like to request you to tell us about your take on law of attraction . I find law of attraction and stoicism and law of attraction both very productive but it's pretty opposite in nature to follow comfortably.

    • @jestenaguirre9108
      @jestenaguirre9108 2 роки тому

      I love the law of attraction.. I feel it’s almost painted a picture in todays world.. we have created the future we painted years ago as humans.. I see how it plays into stoicism.. you have to feel the moment in the present but in order to create it you have to follow stoicism. It’s akin to doing things in faith. Just to do them but you aren’t worried about the outcome, you just do it because you know it will happen. I like to think the confusion comes where so many people have created a version of the truth but in the end it’s always the same for the truth doesn’t change. Have you ever listened to Neville Goddard?

    • @maitriborthakur7360
      @maitriborthakur7360 2 роки тому

      @@jestenaguirre9108 thank you for your wise words , no I haven't heard about Neville Goddard but read some beautiful life changing books on law of attraction and heard words from Bob Proctor and Rhonda Byrne ,I am a big believer of law of attraction myself but sometimes it feels like it can drive us to be more desperate and anxious to gain something or make us egoistic . Ultimately it makes me wonder how to expect the best but prepared for the worst being a LOA and also stoicism believer

    • @jestenaguirre9108
      @jestenaguirre9108 2 роки тому +1

      @@maitriborthakur7360 I get that.. but being anxious kills what we are in search of because the angsts we feel will be the new feeling.. I like to make it easy by picturing the outcome. It’s weird but I describe it as remembering a memory.. picture a past place you have been. The smells, the sounds, how you felt when you first arrived.. you can apply these same feelings to an outcome you would like in the future. Say maybe you are into fitness.. picture yourself with those rock hard abs.. it’s really endless.✌️

We should simplify life to be more conscious of its subtleties and not fill your time with so many tasks . So I prefer to pick a smaller number of tasks and objectives for the day and be more appreciative and present while doing.

    Can you please advise. I have a serious video game addiction problem... I noticed this recently.. Everything I watch a show/movie about something, say heists, I will then end up playing videogames about heists for days, non stop.. If i watch a Western movie that I liked a lot, I start playing Red Dead Redemption 2 non stop for days..
    The worst ones are medieval documentaries.. I love them a lot, learnt a lot, but here also, when I learn about the Rashidun Caliphate, I immediately download Total War Attila with the Rashidun era mods and play it like a maniac non stop for days... I have no idea how I should stop this..
    Unless I literally stop everything I like/enjoy.. That is the only way. But here again, I feel like it's impossible.. How many times, have I thrown my videogames out, sold my PS4, uninstalled all my games to only realize after a couple of weeks that the urge to play becomes greater than ever.. (I absolutely hate hanging out with people, I find them annoying, arrogant, self-centered..etc so I hate going out or spending time with people).. Hence I return to videogames, and the feeling I am getting when playing is unbelievable.. Even greater than drugs.
    Please advise.

    What I'm struggling with is what to do when you hit a wall. I've been working toward a career goal for 11 years in a field that's hard to get into but one that I love. I did the research, I got training, I networked, I wrote a blog, even strangers were telling me "you're smart, you're going to make it." And two years ago, suddenly, I was making it! And then, with lockdowns and shutdowns and all this confusion, suddenly all the doors closed and I find myself stuck. I just don't know what to do. I don't know how to get past this. I haven't worked in my field in 20 months. I haven't written anything on my blog since April, because I feel like I have nothing to say. Do the Stoics address what to do when the things you've been doing stop working?

      The point is: if you know you’re not going to have something done by the deadline, let your stakeholders know well ahead of time, rather than waiting for the last minute. People get swamped and it’s understandable, but communicating and then delivering are important for gaining trust. It fits into the bigger message of that bit about being reliable.

    Cool and I agree, but "find a way to make it fun" does not sound very stoic...

    I like this video. But all I see is the younger generation burning out because of this hyper productivity lifestyle pushed on them. People need to be… just be. No human can really work at this consistency by design. But kudos to people who do. But also kudos to the people who don’t

    Your videos could be better. You should give more introduction to each topic and lower the music.
    You passed from narrating complementing it with interviews, to just showing the interviews. It feels rushed in general. I only have good intentions with this comment, hope you get better at it.

    Audio is bad, unable to focus on the video. Hope you can just make it more simple without all the noise and music. background is not needed throughout the video.
