I think the players have plenty of quality but I some people just aren’t born with that mettle to score a penalty in a final, for some people it’s something you have to find, look at who took penalties for Italy, players who were hardened and have taken them before, even bonucci, I think southgate is to blame for the loss not the players

Excellent podcast Mark. Everything you say in this video is spot on and sums up my feelings about England in the euros. Well done Italy, they were the best team from game one onwards. Mancini should get a lot of plaudits for his tactics, selections and substitutions.
Kane was a passenger in the second half because we sat back and tried to play counter attacking football and Kane has the same pace as my gran. I don’t blame Kane, he played brilliantly in the first half but as soon as our tactics changed he was taken out of the game. I blame Southgate for not going for the 2nd goal after HT.

As always great content, best wishes to you, your family and team that work so hard across the channel's. Keep up the great work mate. 👍
Sterling not stepping up for a pen is a disgrace, sitting back for 70+ minutes is a disgrace. We're England, we have one of the best teams in the world and we sit back and get boxed in. We were lucky to get too pens and then bottled it. Pickford should hold his head high
Couldn't believe Stirling wasn't selected to take a penalty. One of the front 3, and has been for the whole tournament. Strange. Mr Pickford. What a goalkeeper. Has been for last 2 tournaments.
Why does everyone keep bigging up Southgate, against big teams he plays not to lose rather than top managers like Klopp and Guardiola who play on the front foot and take the game to teams to win. Look at his route to the final as easy as the route to the semi final in the World Cup. In that game against Croatia Kane was walking after 60 mins and the same here, its like playing with 10 men and don't get me started on Mount who did nothing in any game, but never gets subbed until the game is nearly over. The array of attacking talent we have and this guy just defends for 118 mins against the old cbs of Italy who had their feet up, the first 2 mins showed they could be got at, utterly clueless.
Great reaction, I liked Pickford. Pickford was passionate throughout the game and was giving his all throughout. Shame on the disgusting fans who ruin the game for real fans like yourself 🙌🏼 Congrats to Italy and especially the veterans on that team
Totally agree with your post, the minority of fans who booed other countries anthems let the country down, and some of the other shenanigans, that went off reminded me of the organised thug mentality of 70's, and 80's.
The game was there to kill after the first goal, second half was shambles. Sunday league level, completely afraid to play from the back without a long ball which allows Italy to have ton of possession.

I agree. Southgate subbed them on and expected them to score penalties when they aren’t even warm. Southgate bottled the tournament by playing his favorites no matter what.
If Rashfords penalty goes in we would have won , but we were poor for most of the game, Kane a let down again, doesn’t do enough to warrant a huge price tag
The actual pen takers were trippier and mount/ rice who went off ....sterling not great at pens, missed his last 3 , grealish hasn't taken one for his club for 18 months and missed then too. Saka and sancho probably would back their ability but as goldbridge said occasion got to them. Young lads though, Southgate should have put the experienced guys first regardless. Rashford missed the key penalty for me. Gave the momentum to Italy after they missed.
A player can't "bottle" a penalty shoot out mate, you said it yourself it is a roulette. The bottling was done by Southgate who made 2 cold players, coming in for 2 minutes, who were minimally involved in the entire tournament, and a 19 year old, take penalties!
Absolutely spot on That whole final is totally on him 100 percent completely cocked it up It was as if he was playing a game of let's see how long I can avoid bringing on grealish and let's watch Italy grow into the game and take over absolutely mug I never rated him and I've actually tried to give him credit and really thought maybe what's he's doing is actually working Glad I'm a bit older now and watched it at home because I was furious at him Credit to all the players they all did us proud but that man completely let us down.thats not an agenda or being reactionary because I would happily say fair play to him if he actually did something but he did NOTHING and gave 2 players that have had 6 minutes of football all tournament and a 19 year old kid the pressure of the nation pathetic
If England can't win with such easy draw till final, playing almost all the matches at home, with 5 subs allowed, then I doubt if they will ever win it..
Rashford, Sancho and saka deserve criticism not racism. I'm pissed off about rashford and Sancho especially cuz it's not like they don't know how to take penalties cuz they have taken them many times at club level and they have taken pressure penalties and scored. I can understand saka missing cuz he doesn't take penalties at all and has no experience at all

You hide your players the whole tournament and expect them to score in the finals and penalties? English players are over-hyped by media.
Agreed. You can't choose not to play them in most of the games and then subbed them in the last minutes of the final hoping they would make a change.
I think the players have plenty of quality but I some people just aren’t born with that mettle to score a penalty in a final, for some people it’s something you have to find, look at who took penalties for Italy, players who were hardened and have taken them before, even bonucci, I think southgate is to blame for the loss not the players
U gotta remember only half the starters are actually in their prime (26-29) and the rest are early twenties. Give them a couple years and we will see if they are overhyped. England have won multiple youth world cups and euros recently so there’s definitely hope
Not over hyped, rashford and Sancho are both great players, just Southgate being strange not using them all tournament
U would have said the opposite if he didnt put rashi and sancho on.. "oh but why not put on sancho and rashi on for the penalties they are good penalty takers" Pple R like that . move on and accept it . even spanish media hype their own players, U only watch England media...

The players naturally sat back as soon as they scored though. Just noticed it more when Hendo came on because he was dreadful
I think sometime around the end of the second half ball possession was Italy 71%-29% England. Crazy.

Sterling not stepping up for a pen is a disgrace, sitting back for 70+ minutes is a disgrace. We're England, we have one of the best teams in the world and we sit back and get boxed in. We were lucky to get too pens and then bottled it. Pickford should hold his head high

Simple logic
If Rashfords penalty goes in we would have won , but we were poor for most of the game, Kane a let down again, doesn’t do enough to warrant a huge price tag
Absolutely!
