This was super helpful and well-presented, thank you! I just bought the PDF last night because I kept hearing about this game and was curious about the solo play. Most of my D&D group is more into the roleplay side, while I’m slowly dipping my toes into wargaming. This seems like a perfect avenue for that, and I appreciate the light but full coverage - not getting too into the mechanics or lore, just enough to plant the seeds without spoiling anything. Now I’m excited to give it a try, so thanks for justifying my impulse buy! Might have to buy the physical book soon…
I’m planning on starting my first solo campaign. I’m planning on adjusting the setting to fit a world of anthropomorphic animals because …. I have a borderline shameful number of miniatures from Oathsworn minis’ “Burrows & Badgers.” I haven’t played the game in years because I don’t have a reliable play group for it but the models are so whimsical and strike me the right way (and an absolute joy to paint) For the giant rats (non sentient), I’m swapping in bugs because the old B&B lore are those are the non sentient wildlife they see and deal with. For the gnolls, I’m just going to have opposing forces in service of the Shadow Deep and pick minis that look a little more ruffian or evil than the heroes
