It's very rare that that changes anything. As far as the upscaled legions, a hasbro representative explained why they're doing it. They want to put out a more kid friendly line. They made reference to a g1 toy only needing 5 steps to transform it to robot mode, whereas today it takes five steps just to transform one of rotf leader Prime's feet. They'll be toys that a kid can pick up and mess with easliy and yet still be a good "action figure" size instead of tiny.

Mine somehow has much lighter plastic that's almost pink, a head that falls off if you look at it wrong, and the sloppiest paint apps I've ever seen on his windows. It looks like the jet took a red paint ball to the face!
because this is based on Megatron after he was sniped and nearly killed by Spike's experimental rifle (based on reverse engineered Shockwave I think?). Not pre-war Megatronus. Megatronus had a completely different look and alt mode.

If it weren't for the hollow legs and all the black, this would be my favorite Megatron figure. I've always had a problem with Megatron being black. He believes himself to be a hero, so silver is a much more fitting color for him.
He is nice but small. Everyone else can be small except for megatron.. Its the same complaint that I had with Universe Galvatron. Both have great molds and colors. Both have issues with height. Although kids dont seem to mind. My five yr old son uses TF Prime Megatron when playing with his toys.

The Hasbro version looks half assed. Check out the Takara with the paint job it is amazing. I know the takara's always have more paint apps ,but this figure is just awesome with the extra paint and the darker colors replacing the pink/purple.
I'm not saying people aren't entitled to their opinion and the criticism isn't legit, I always acknowledge problems with the toys I review, but at the end of the day, what is complaining about the toy going to accomplish? It's not like hasbro is going to completely redesign the toy from the ground up just because people don't like it. It is what it is, hence, get over it.

In the stealth bomber configuration, at least in IDW canon, Megatron wields a rail gun instead of his trademark fusion cannon
