- They're Trying To Erase Jazz From Transformers Movies. So its time to talk about how Paramount and Hasbro are trying to avoid putting Jazz in anymore live action Transformers movies. Why Jazz hasn't been put in the Transformers Movies? Look, I understand the laws of death. Like when you're dead, that's a wrap. But that law doesn't necessarily apply to Cybertronians. Just look at Megatron. He refused to die. So why couldn't our boy Jazz get revived by a cube sliver or human tech? And why hasn't he made his appearance in the newer films? Paramount literally took my boy's vehicle mode and gave it to Mirage. So what gives? The only thing I can think of is today's climate. Many of you remember how much backlash Paramount got from characters such as Skids & Mudflap. People considered them too stereotypical. And considering the fact that those two were the leading factor to the films low box office performance. Paramount probably doesn't want that heat from people who think Jazz will be similar.
A character whom similar to Optimus Prime, mandatorily needs to be presented in his own unique way. What I mean by this is that in most instances a Transformers will receive a major facelift in regards to their personality and overall design. But a robot like Jazz simply cannot be tampered with too much or he'll lose a lot of what makes him standout. It's like if the designers decided to make Optimus all Blue and you took away his iconic mouth guard, it simply would not work. Along with Optimus Prime, Jazz is the Autobot who retains most of his original Generation 1 design in the Bay film, among his iconic features, his trademark "visor", which is retractable in the movie, as well as front-chassis chest and wheel wells in his feet. Also, his transformation to vehicle mode, although in the film his alternate mode is not a Porsche 935, a similar looking model was chosen, as Jazz's alternate mode in the film is a silver/gray customized hardtop Pontiac GXP, similar to the weekend racer concept car.

Jazz was pretty much the only Autobot who genuinely cared about Bumblebee in the first Transformers movie back at 2007. Remember Jazz asked about Bee when Bee was captured by Sector Seven.
Yup. He was a real day 1. You could tell he was second in command with the way he questioned Optimus on things.
Yeah the one line he really had lol ( all the transformers in 2007 had one line ) as I got older I started to hate the bayverse as I saw the transformers become just cardboard cutouts to the humans
He asked twice, once on the bridge and when they scan the glasses. He also doesn’t leave bee behind when he gets injured in the final battle.
They did comics based off the movies, jazz was brought back by rachet ,but he left the team to explore earth and never returned.
Jazz needs more spotlight. Literally the coolest transformer, has so much style and is so chill while being badass. He’d definitely become a fan favorite

The only time homie was done Justice was in Fall of Cybertron and I stan by that tbh. Bro was able to take on Bruticus, help out Cliftjumper in his mission and so on. While keeping him in character and such. Or his appearance in TF: Animated. Loved his portrayal there as well. While he may have followed orders due to how sentinel was going as prime, he knew that homie was wrong and took initiative and did his own thing for Optimus and the other autobots in that show in that show

Honestly when mirage existed I genuinely said "Yep, that's jazz. They really took everything from him". I always wanted Jazz to return in the live action movies but when mirage took over I had to cope with the fact that if jazz was to be there *now* he'd basically have no place since it would be redundant. So i do hope he's another movie but ig if i want jazz i'll have to settle for the animated shows or comics....
Jazz is Mirage's boss and the way they have Mirage act in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is not what Mirage should be in a live action movie, and Mirage should be the Former Noble that he is not acting like the way Jazz do because Jazz is Jazz, and there are no other Transformers Character like Jazz.
When Jazz died in the first live action movie I saw it as a weird Easter egg/callback. Jazz was the only character in that movie who didn’t die/get blown apart/destroyed in the original 1986 movie or the subsequent season 3 (bumblebee got his there). His lack of appearances in Transformers dated earlier in time, regardless of the fact bumblebee and rise of the beasts now clearly exist in their own timeline is annoying. Hopefully Jazz will make an appearance in the next one and play a more prominent role. And hopefully include an Easter egg reference to his original voice actor Benjamin “Scatman” Crothers. Though that would be almost purely for me.
Sucks that they sacrificed his vehicle mode for Mirage. I honestly have no idea what they're gonna use for Jazz once they bring him back. Giving Mirage the Porsche was a slap in the face.

Yes. He did outlive pretty much every other autobot character in the 1986 film and throughout the rest of the series. He should've been included in every single film ititeration. If there was a name issue for legal reasons, an adjustment could've been made like it was for Bumblebee being called Goldbug for several years, and a creative explanation could have been provided.

I can write a book about what characters have been left out of Transformers media. Jazz has been treated poorly not only in the films but also having been left out of ROTB and shows since 2015. At least we G1 fans got some love with both Studio Series and the Origins figure.
It's a shame that they didn't make him the main Autobot character in ROTB instead of Jazz. Given the fact that it takes place in New York and makes constant references to hip hop it would've been perfect for him.

I hope they put Jazz in the Rise of The Beasts sequel. And it would be sick to see his G1 design and form how Rise of the Beasts handeld the Autobots especially Mirage i can see them doing Jazz well since i really like his Personality
TF Animated Jazz voiced by Phil LaMarr is my favorite version. Would love to see him come back to voice him in the live action movies.

@@RandomBlackGamer In bumblebee movie the post credits show seven Autobots coming to earth but in rise of the beast we see four of them some would say the other three are deceptions but with rise of the beast delete scenes
Transit got to earth by his ship so I this was a wasted potential three more Autobots that could have been in the movie and one could have been Jazz

They can erase him from the movies as much as they want but they can't erase him from our hearts.
In deed and their mistreatment of Jazz will continue on angrying the Fans who want Jazz as one of the Main Characters in the Transformers movies and animated series, but they choose not to have Jazz in them because they don't like Jazz at all which is why they are not having Jazz in any Transformers Live-acting Movies and in Animated series because Jazz is a freedom-loving, free-spirited Transformers Character who do things with style which makes Jazz a cool and fun character that puts a smile on our faces or get us to laugh for a bit.

I've been wondering the same thing, Jazz would be so cool to see return to the movies and have him be Optimus second in command for the new films, I've always thought Jazz should've been the second most popular autobot besides Optimus kinda like Starscream is to Megatron.

You hit the nail on the head. Jazz has been voiced by cool chill black dudes and as a result of their personality and vocal performances Jazz embodies a cool chill black dude. Scatman Crothers and Darius McCrary gave him his identity. Hollywood is just too confused and afraid to just be ok with that. "We want him to be black but not too black. Like we don't want it to be obvious. But is wanting him to be black racist? No, NOT wanting him to be black is racist and we dont want that. Wait, he's an alien car robot. Do they have races? Oh jeez, now we're being racist again cause we're talking about race. You know what? let's just keep him dead so we never have to address this."

I know Mirage is really similar to Jazz, and that introducing Jazz alongside Mirage might get confusing. But It doesn’t need to be that way! Mirage is certainly a cool dude, but he also is quite energetic in ROTB, and is certainly more like a cross between Jazz and HotShot than anything. If they introduce Jazz into the movie verse, he could be a much more chill, more serious, but still fun loving Autobot, and while he was silvery gray in the Bayverse, he could be is G1 colors of Black, White, Red and Blue in the new universe! Maybe even have a newer (or older) Porsche model as his alt mode! I know with Two Autobot Porsches with cool groovy personalities will get confusing, but if they play their cards right, and let the writers, directors, character designers, animators and VAs do their job, I feel that giving Mirage a foil in Jazz would be very very cool! A more mature but still cool reflection of Mirage’s young, careless, and flashy demeanor! They both could contrast and compliment each other!

They can coexist. Mirage may as well be like Jazz's subordinate or take on an apprenticeship role. Mirage is the younger, loudmouthed, brash, and rebellious one while Jazz is respected, calm and caring

FACTS, my disappointment was immeasurable when I found out the Porsche in the trailer of rotb wasn’t jazz
I understand why some people think that the Twins are offensive, even though I don’t think that they are. From what I heard the twins are supposed to be a lot like jazz, wannabe gangsters that embrace the culture (they writers and people didn’t make that clear though). I personal love Jazz and I hope to see him come back, but due to our blindsight of the twins, Hasbro may fear that we will misunderstand that character yet again. Especially with people even thing that Jazz was offensive.
Jazz has always been a favorite TF character of mine, especially going all the way back to the original G1 series in '84, and he, back then, voiced by the legendary Scatman Crothers (R.I.P.) but I even liked the character throughout other series/iterations later on as well. As for the '07 TF movie, the little screentime that they did give to him, and the little dialogue that he did have, I thought he was awesome, and that they also made a great choice in giving him the Pontiac Solstice as his vehicle mode. A small car, for a small bot. I still remember sitting in the theater way back in '07, and seeing him get torn in half by Megatron near the end of the film. I remember thinking, "that's all it took to take that dude out!?" And then as the movies continued on throughout the years, it made less and less sense how he could have been taken out so easily, and have not ever been able to just be put back together again, very easily it seems, too. Think back to how many times other characters were damaged 100xs worse, even some brought back from the dead (and lets not even discuss the scene from either, TF4 or TF5, when Bumblebee was actually blown apart but then reconnected himself, with no damage, whatsoever, and was all good again...as if it never even happened!). I know it's just a movie but it still never made any actual sense. Even if he had been kept around though, his vehicle mode would have had to change either way since the Pontiac manufacturer went under, and closed up shop for good, too, in '09 or '10.
Jazz would be an amazing contrast to mirage and bee in future films. Hell maybe just maybe they could even find a clever way to give jazz back his porche alt mode. Maybe in the sequel him and mirage have some banter about how jazz placed a bet on a Porsche when they were coming to earth "perhaps they scanned multiple potential alt modes while In Earth's atmosphere and communicated what they'd be so it'd be easier to find eachother In disguise" so mirage finds a new vehicle mode and there's an epic reveal of jazz rocking his old colors on his classic porche. Idk, I just want my boy jazz back bruh.
Even though I like Mirage and he’s one of my personal favorites in these new movies, I do kind of miss Jazz :(
They need to bring my boi back. He got done dirty in the 2007 movie and this new reboot continuity they could bring him back with a mix of his animated, 2007 and Fall of cybertron designs ( And im my opinion the Fall of cybertron version of him got that dawg in him, he took on Bruticus for crying out loud ) .
From what I found out and personally, I think that the reason why they were not bringing Jazz back in the cinematic universe especially with this new Cinematic transformers universe is because it's not only the fear of Hasbro and Paramount repeating the same mistake that they did with skids and mudflap but mostly also because Lorenzo Di Bonaventura along with the rest of the crew are all still arguing back and forth about if this universe is a sequel to the Bay verse or a complete reboot. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura is one of the biggest reasons why The cinematic universe is in a limbo about if it's a sequel/prequel to The Bay verse or a full-on reboot, because he literally does not want to let go of the Bayhem in transformers. Someone needs to convince them to wake up and see that what the fans want is not another Bay- verse but what they want is a reboot of the transformers cinematic universe that actually pleases the newer and old transformers fans alike, not a brand new take on Michael Bay Transformers. Besides Michael Bay literally said he is tired of making Transformers movies and he wants to do something else. So for once can't Lorenzo just admit that it is a reboot and stay with it, alongside with leaving Michael Bay alone and allowing him to direct his own movies while allowing Transformers to be written and directed true Transformers fans like Travis Knight. Yes Travis Knight not Stephen Cable Jr. because Travis Knight would never allow Wheeljack to go from way look like in Bumblebee to having a Steve urkel design. In fact I saw the movie and there is no focus to his personality as Steven cable Junior implied. So he could have just renamed Wheeljack with Que just like the way just like how the Wheeljack situation was dealt with in transformers dark of the Moon, then there would have been a chance of Wheeljack coming to Earth in his true form.
If it's actually true that they just completely stop adding jazz, it's gonna be disappointing for me and any other fans of him and TF in general
He's such a good character man, it would be a pain to find out he's not gonna be added anymore.

I was convinced Mirage in ROTB was meant to be Jazz... and in leaks of early concept drawings mirage does have a different head that looks a lot like Jazz. Theory is that Hasbro still doesnt have the rights to the name 'Jazz' so the studio changed his head and him mirage (Look at all recent toys jazz is always named 'autobot jazz' rather than just 'jazz'... this is too get away with the rights issues)

@@RandomBlackGamer Even the way Mirage transforms is similiar to the unique way jazz did... i forget who the video was by... but look up concept art from rotb and there you will see mirage with jazz's head in those drawings... im sure it was a rights issue and jazz eventually became mirage because of it
They have had a lot of trouble with name rights over the years but they still made Mirage voiced by a white guy, wasn't even a musician either

Remember how mirage acted and sounded in g1? it was very introverted... this mirage was jazz in everything but name and hologram ability.
@@jaynadiah5498 oh yeah I definitely agree I was thinking that the entire movie I'm 42 so Jazz, and Blaster were definitive black Autobots to me. Even though they keep bringing up Soundwave but not his rival....1 is auto-tune in the other is a live DJ and they haven't even played off of this yet! Get the two characters the voice and do the soundtrack. We need more videos like this explaining why we love these characters!
Literally what I was thinking too. I’m so upset that now that they finally have the license for Porsche, they give it to Mirage, who, like u said, could’ve been any other sports car. Bruh I been thinking bout this so much recently. I was thinking bout it. Since the twins we haven’t had jazz in anything except RID 2015. He’s such a goated character and one of the few who survived the wipe of characters of the 80’s movie. I think they’re afraid bc Jazz has similarities to a cool black guy or something, but literally who cares man. I love jazz so much and he’s such a cool ass character. Having him in FOC was amazing and I need more of that respect given.
ROTB would've been the perfect spot to reintroduce him to a brand new audience. Especially with how the film takes place in NY and has many references to hip hop. Total wasted opportunity.

One of the main differences between Mirage and Jazz is Mirage is more of the hotshot kiddish type kinda like how Smokescreen was in Transformers Prime. Jazz being more of the embodiment of Cool, but other than that they are very very similar and especially after ROTB, it'll be hard to insert Jazz cuz of how it seems like Mirage may have mellowed out. I'd Love to see Jazz even if Mirage is still there cuz man is he an OG
Honestly rise of the beasts came out recently, and in there, there'd a character named mirage, who is as cool and calm as jazz. BRUH that spot in the movie should've been his.
I doubt that skids and mudflap have anything to do with jazz’s lack of appearances in live action. I think it simply comes down to the fact that the team behind the recent movies had no interest in including jazz. I do think he’ll make a comeback in the movies at some point it’s just a matter of when.
Jazz n bumblebee are by far the best of the transformers. A spinoff of just these two kickin ass would be badass. The whole kinda prequel to the original films sets it up perfectly too.

Jazz is one of those characters that just has that look of lowkey swag and badassery that even to this day I hope we get to see our boi comeback and steal every scene he’s in. I’d personally love another solo transformer movie but have the main robot be Jazz and just cuz the pair would fit so well in the 90’s have him have a minicon aka Blaster.

Great analysis!!! Never thought about Skids and Mudfalp as a reason on why they aren't doing Jazz. It's Def a possibility which is a shame because Jazz is cool and a classic character who deserves more of a spot light.

Most likely he got killed bc hasbro wanted to introduce more auto bots and make more toys. Hope we see him again in this new timeline.

I like Jazz, he’s the guy who completely embraced Earth culture, in the IDW stuff he was one of the first to adopt Earth as his homeworld.
It’d be a good contrast to “I wanna go home” AKA Optimus.

Jazz is one of the many characters that deserve more depictions.
Thank you for this comment! That’s what I’ve been saying for the longest. I’m so sick and tired of Bumblebee getting all the spotlight and badass moments when there’s other characters that the Transformers fans loved who deserves the same treatment as well. I get it Bumblebee’s a popular character, but c’mon nobody wants to see Bumblebee take up the entire movie everytime.
Mirage really should have been Jazz in Rise of the Beasts. It was a hiphop movie after all. Missed opportunity was missed.

The simplest reason I can think of is because he is pretty much almost everyone's favorite Autobot, and having toys sold of only one other Autobot when Optimus and Bumblebee are already a big enough problem is a big no no. I'm willing to bet he was the first one to be killed in the Bayformers films for that very reason, especially when they were trying to push Bumblebee even harder than ever before. They could've easily brought him back with the Matrix for ROTF or DOTM, but they didn't. It's a shame because that would've made for a good story too. Seeing him come over the guilt of not protecting Ironhide and Ratchet who can't come back after being literally melted would have been devastating with good writing, especially since they were the ones to try and bring him back first. Seeing Jazz rip Megatron's head off and hold some of the remains from Ironhide at the end would've been poetic in a way. There's definitely still some good stuff that could be made around his character, but I guess Hasbro is afraid to make him popular again.
I grew up with transformers mostly through the live action movies and I enjoyed Jazz from what I saw there. Also I’m not ashamed to admit I confused Jazz and Sideswipe when I first saw revenge of the fallen I was so confused it took me a while to realize it was a different character but hey I was young so yeah.

When they did Jazz in the Transformers War for Cybertron / Fall of Cybertron games a lot more justice compared to the Movies lately. That's when something isn't right.
At least Jazz survived in the Align continuity
I really miss Jazz, he always felt like a mix of fun and easy-going when things are going ok or to lighten the mood, but knew to take things seriously when scrap hit the fan. He was a favorite of mine in G1, Animated was new, but really well done, the Cybertron games made him a freaking GOAT, and while not my favorite design of his career, I loved seeing him in action in thr 2007 film and Game tie in (more the game but I'm biased there). Mirage was good in ROTB but between the vehicle mode, and his personality, you put it best, he's Mirage in name only, it was a perfect set up for Jazz and they missed.

When I saw mirages alt mode in the vehicle preview of the film I got so excited because I thought it was jazz and turns out it was mirage, I was honestly devastated

I have jazz,s MPM figure and he is one of my absolute favorites. Ppl can say what they want about the twins but...... They took on devastator without hesitation with some human help too. If sideswipe was red colored, ppl would not mistake him for jazz.

The completely retcon bumblebee. Anyone who saw the original 80's g1 cartoon, BB was soft and got his ass kick on a regular and always needed saving. They basically made Bumblebee Jazz and Jazz a sucker

Jazz, Blurr, and Mirage are my favorite secondary autobots, i'm still fucking pissed that we've basically seen nothing of him in both live action and animated, besides the movie the only other thing i remember him in was the fall of cybertron game!!

so grateful to find this video bc i just recently got into tf and jazz was an instant favorite- it was so cool to me that there's a transformer who's black-coded but still a really cool and fun character. i love him and blaster a lot, and was so sad to see jazz just... really doesn't show up in anything despite being optimus's lieutenant.
also REALLY confused that he doesn't show up at all in the newest movies, but I'm TRYING to hold out hope he'll show up in tf: one, especially since it'll be a prequel to bumblebee. if he doesn't I'm gonna be REALLY upset lol. like, it's cool that bee will be voiced by a black guy, but idk i just like my man jazz better 😭😭
I really enjoyed the dynamic between Jazz and Cliffjumper in FoC. I wish we got more of it.
He became my all time favorite immediately after i saw him in 07 even today, and he is the reason i got into transformers to begin with, i grew up with the bayverse TF and after that it became a goal for me to watch all the important TFs series and movies
And another thing I don't get that you brought up, in the bumblebee movie they literally had an accurate wheeljack model on cybertron yet they made that THING, they should of given him a different name if they were going to make that a character design
