Thanks for the cast! I prefer this to the official one because it's just the games without ads and interviews. The occasional analysis is a fine addition, too.
Nice to see my boi herO bodying the set. Hopefully the next katowice herO is a good bet. Always bet on the guy. Bigger payout since a lot bet on Maru and Serral.
This set of matches begs the question - How would Serral REALLY do in the GSL format? (Or Clem for that matter?) No one questions that Serral's proven how dominant he is everywhere else. But GSL is a different beast, and watching Reynor get completely demolished here just further proved it. We may never find out, since Serral doesn't seem interested to try, but then that's always gonna remain as a giant glaring hole in his otherwise immaculate resume. Definitely not a foregone conclusion that he would automatically win.
It's not a glaring hole, the idea that the format is somehow impossible to adapt to is insane, and really only seems to come from people like Artosis who obsess over that scene and that era to their own detriment. Special, as well as Astrea, were routinely able to get into the top 16 of GSL for years. Maybe Reynor isn't particularly great at the format right now, but if there was a magical pool of incredible Korean players with a format that no one outside of Seoul could ever hope to understand, Special and Astrea and Scarlett wouldn't have made it in.
@@BukovTervicz Good thing I meant exactly what I said. The point consistently raised for Serral is that he can and has beat all the top GSL players in other arenas, just like Reynor. So theoretically he should flourish in GSL. Then you watch Reynor go down in flames because of the wholly different strategies and game theory around prep-time, and there's a natural parallel of comparison to draw. To you it may casually raise the question. To me, it intensely begs it. Like most of the SC2 fanbase, I'm very curious to know how Serral would do if he tried GSL. Thanks anyways English professor LOL.
It really doesn't. Reynor didn't even make top 8 at Katowice. He hasn't been in form for a long time. GSL is an overrated Tournament where there's only like 4-5 contendors to take the tournament which is Maru, Solar, Dark, Byun and Her0. Really, it's just Maru because the rest are not consistent. Everyone studies Serral when they go to tournament and they still lose. Serral can't study everyone and he still wins.
At the begining watching foreigners been humiliated was painful dude, but now it's just apathy, it's what you expect, no matter what Raynor said before. No even a single win :(
Meanwhile Koreans get run over in every international event where they cant prep a cheese. Having coaches and a month to prepare in GSL. Talking about foreigners while Maru the BIGGEST international CHOCKER of all time can't win anything non GSL to save his life, while Reynor world champion and Gamers8 among others
Thats why I disagree with Pig's opinion that it switching races in a match should not matter. IT DOES when the tournament places emphasizes preparation like GSL. This is akin to classical chess world championship, the only one of its kind in SC 2. All other tournaments are blitz of chess. In this format muscle memory and reflexes are not be all end all. A lesser player has a lot of room to create an upset. Its the ultimate one on one tournament, though its now a watered down version from when the finals takes one week preparstion. Now semis and finals is on one day
I feel so BAD for REYNOR. Forzaaa Reynor sei un grandeeee!! In the second game vs Gumiho he really deserved to win but he made a fatal mistake: Brood Lords. If he had gone hydras / lurkers and nydus he would have won easy. He also was too nervous. So many zergs forget to use some amazing tools like nydus. But I also feel that with the new stupid Blizzard changes, Zergs are struggling in both early and late game. Look at game 2, Gumiho was down almost 30 workers, lost so much but : "hey I am F....g terran what do I care!! I just launch 50 Mules in 3 seconds and guess what?? I eat more minerals than your 80 drones! meanwhile I'll have Non stop scans" For being a 15 years old game, SC2 Balance is a J O K E !!
I watched the GSL cast, and feel like there are so many things you missed, or that they mentioned in the first game that were so important, and what they predicted would happen, happened. And when listening to you it sounds like you are surprised when the first attack happens. On another note, feels like Reynor is on a tilt when playing against protoss, and been like that for a while now.
I see what you mean, I also disagree. State made some excellent points and missed many others, just like PiG did: I still think that both casts has merit and that is why it is awesome to get this second cast. All that said, the GSL casters missed so many technical aspects that is a joy to hear from PiG. Cheers👍
GSL is the last line of defense for koreans, they lost everything to foreigners so far this is the only title that no foreigner ever won, im not surprised they put so much effort on practicing for it even tho the prize pool and the prestige isnt there anymore to justify it. i hope this isnt the last year for GSL i hope we get many more years, its so much fun! but people just gave up on it, koreans gave up. ASL/broodwar is much more popular for good or for bad.
I mean they still are the most dominant country in any big tournament there is. Just because they aren't stomping the living crap off every player across the globe like 10 years ago doesn't mean they "lost everything".
@@jazhric other than regionals tho they still participate in ESL DH offline events and big events like IEM and now the newly esports world cup assuming you qualify, even in smaller events like online stuff and homestory they are welcomed to participate ( i know its not worth traveling for homestory since the prize pool and the prestige isnt there) but also GSL isnt worth traveling for foreigners too because living in korea is so expensive, rent is very expensive. reynor went there because he loves the life and culture of korea and also compete, its not like he went there strictly for competition.
@@garryarganis5801 Sure, but in other to get into those events you need to get top4 on the GSL (or get one of the 4 spots of the open qualifiers) meaning that realistically, you need to aim to do well in GSL
The moment when PiG goes into trance and starts speaking 100 words per second out of pure excitement.
That’s called passion.
Truth 😂
pig latin 2.0
I really thought I've accidentally put the video on 1.5x-2 speed wtf

Brutal for reynor

hate to see my boy reynor go out like that.
"Hero has weird diagonal openings, but it doesn't really matter since he isn't going to put a unit in the wall 90% of the time anyway." had me loling

This is the reason people call him GumiGOD
Love the casts I just wish they had chapters for each match so I can skip ahead to the games I want to see
