Have used your video for a second time! I did consider a new wheel but took the plunge with a couple of 6902 Enduro bearings. Can't thank you enough, have never walloped something in the confidence it would work !
I have a DT Swiss M1900 wheel with a 3 Pawl hub, I believe it's a 370 and a Sram XD driver. The driver was not spinning well and the cranks would keep moving when they should have been stationary. In a stand the wheel would even spin backward when I turned the cranks backward. I tried cleaning and regressing several times but that did not help. I found the collar on the XD driver was getting hung up on the axel in one spot and also the spacer bushing was slightly mushroomed at the ends. Replaced the spacer and carefully ground the collar on the driver, greased it up and now it works like new. This video helped me work out the issue. Thank you.
Great video - Really helpful.. I've removed the bearings from my DTSwiss dt R470 rear wheel.. just waiting for the replacement bearings through the post..
Fantastic info, thank you very much! I have M1900 wheels that are built the same way. Chasing a ghost pedaling issue at the moment, and I think it's in the bearings of the freehub. The hub has enough wear and damage from the cassette, and from the previous owner's time with the bike, that I'm going to replace the free hub. But seeing your video makes me also want to take the axle out and replace the bearings. I was inspecting it all this week, attempting to diagnose the ghost pedaling, and discovered that spacer won't move, and can't be slid off either.
Ha. My X1900 rear has a "ghost pedalling" issue, too. I'm coasting along, especially on downhill drifting, and the free hub seems to 'catch' then release to normal, every few seconds. Has gotten worse as I let it go. Unfortunately I cannot get my hub bearing to pop out like in this video. I pop and pop with a rubber mallet and the bearing is just fused to inner wall of the hub. Granted, I don't have the block of wood (I have soft jaws in my vice, open enuf to brace the non-drive-side rotor mount but let the axle thru) and my rubber mallet does not look quite as hard as that in the video.
hey! thanks for this awesome video! it really helped and saved me a lot of money :) plus I learned something new and have now the great feeling of a personal win ;D
Any tips for if the spacer won't come off? Have a set of e1900 (I believe the same process) but the freehub spacer will not budge at all. Tried release sprays, just hammering anyway, nothing will budge 😭
Good video- I don't have a vice and the NDS end cap seems rather tight- rather than trying some bodge with vice-grips could it be knocked out with the bearing too at the same time?? Or is that too much work for the axle to do and may damage it??
Great video..I’m getting a good bit of play on my m1900 rear wheel. The hub body bearings aren’t the smoothest but I’m not sure I’d be able to feel play if it was the hub, however if the axle bearings were gone would I be able to shake my wheel and feel play? Thanks
@@FreeToCycle I have the same hubs with the same bearings and my bearing do not fit through the drive ring. I purchased the dt swiss 3 pawl drive ring removal socket and the socket is just ever so slightly too big. the new bearings do not slide through the drive ring when trying to size them up and they are the correct bearing. can the drive side bearing come out the other way? I have no way of pulling the drive ring
I’ve done this full overhaul - excellent video! Q -What size rubber do you have On there? I have these for my cx (35mm) and I’m considering tossing these on my xc bike. Assuming 2.2?
After ordering the wrong tool, I watched this vid and gave it a go without taking the ring out. The bearing initially wouldn’t budge, so I thought that the hub is slightly different. Found the correct tool on line, it’s effin 50-60 quid!! In the end, I tried dropping the new bearing down the axle, to see if it would fit into the ring, and it did (obviously just slightly, not all the way in). If it can go in, it must be possible to get it out. It did come out in the end, just needed a lot of encouragement! The ring is not in the way (spline e1900).
great vid. Much appreciated. Thx also for giving the size of bearings (rear wheel) which you state is 6902 RS. You don't mention bearing size for the front wheel I noted
Hi. I have a DT Swiss Syncros 3pawl hub (might be a road with centre lock) which I believe is also a 370 but I'm having real trouble knocking the axle out as shown. Do they all use this method? great vid btw, surprised nobody else has, these hubs are common as muck
How do you actually call this “shaft” your talking about like in 10:22? Mine was worn down and It’s kinda difficult to replace a part I don’t know how it’s called 😅
I did this but then found when QR was clamped the freehub would stick (basically a fixie). What could be wrong? It was very hard to get the driveside bearing past the ring nut.
my wheels have a bit of play sideways, both front and rear, i have non idea why that is happening. Cant imagine that the bearings are worn out because i have not ridden it all that much. Anyone know what it can be?
Finally a video showing how to remove the axle...Thx

Perfect. There’s a ton of videos about 240s, but this is the only one that shows the process for 350s. Thanks!
Cheers. Very helpful. I use A bit of threaded bar and some big washers behind the sockets make for a cheap bearing press when you are replacing too.
Almost makes me wish I needed to change mine! Thank you for such an easy to follow video.
Thanks so much, didn't think I'd be able to do this. But amazing, works a treat! Thanks so much. Now for a celebratory brew 😎
Great video. I really like your suggestion about the block of wood to rest the hub on. Thanks for the video

I have the same issue. Where did you get the replacement spacer from?
Excellent video and detailed explanations of the process
Just did this going through the tutorial…..brilliant so clear…….thanks so much just copied what you did and took my time 👍

Hi, thanks for posting this video 👍🏻 so the ratchet ring can stay in place on these 3 pawl designs?
Yes!

Thanks very helpful, plus bearing size a great help is there a percific bearing make to go for ?? Cheers Richard
Can’t go wrong with SKF or NSK bearings
hi dont you have to remove the black ring nut with special Dt swiss tool ? before removing the bearing cassette side ? thanks
No!

Is there anything to do if my freehub spacer is stuck?
hello is it possible to exchange the 11V freehub for the new Shimano 12V micro spline?
Yes!
I did this but then found when QR was clamped the freehub would stick (basically a fixie). What could be wrong? It was very hard to get the driveside bearing past the ring nut.
Either the bearings aren’t seated fully or the spacer on the axle is worn, which is a common problem!
if you find that you've got a broken axle, do you know the part number to order? asking for a friend ;)
Go on the DT Swiss website and enter your hub info.
