How to Min-Max The War Thunder Grind: ua-cam.com/video/YmcvII_do5w/v-deo.html Even MORE Ground Battle Tips and Tricks: ua-cam.com/video/MGBTTiuz9GA/v-deo.html
additional tips from my experience: 1. Check the minimap every 10 seconds 2. Save your artillery, don't place it at random spots in the begging of a match 3. Don't use thermals always especially if you got 1st gen 4. If you don't know how to play a vehicle, check the wikipedia, in some tanks there's a section about how to use that vehicle 5. At the start of every match turn on aim mode for commander sight rather than turning it on in the middle of combat 6. If you see an enemy always mark them either on the minimap or with the "air alert" quick message 7. Probably everyone knows this but if you don't have a stabilizer on your tank and you face an enemy don't hold S key to fully stop, rather release the W key and in few seconds the gun will sort of stabilize for a few seconds allowing you to take first shot hope it helps
@Santoz-wo3bs thing is new players wouldn't know about the armor of their tank since it doesn't mean anything to them if they're not familiar with tanks
@@woutervanheusden commander controls for the gun basically not all tanks have them, but the ones that do you can peek with the commander sight showing less of your tank and maybe even take a shot depending on the situation.
Scanning in binos is clutch. Aside from being basically free-look, and usually elevated from the gun-sight, they are also stabilized and auto-leveling. So even if you're sitting sideways on a wicked slope or bouncing across terrain, they stay steady and the same angle all the time, making it much easier to see, especially if you're looking for movement. And with the added bonus for light tankers that it's then super easy to hit the scout button. One of my biggest pet peeves is the light tank rushers that are way out ahead of the FLOT but don't scout a single thing, they just cap rush and die, so everyone else is going in blind.
Some tips I got: -When playing an SPAA you can bait in a plane by shooting at a different one or nothing at all -If you see a teammate get shot while peaking and getting their driving disabled, tow em back to cover -Use your UAV a LOT, I've been able to win 1v5s with it by knowing which enemies are pushing me and when -If you wanna quickly get a teamates attention to say, a flanking enemy, shoot the teammate with your MGs then shoot around where the enemy is coming, where the enemy cant see it, this alerts your teammate(sometimes) not the enemy that you're aware of them
Also SPAA, optimal positioning is somewhere behind the main fighting in a valley or other cover that still gives you sight of the sky. Planes will gravitate to objectives and your allies, which makes them come closer and fly predictably.
1) If you move for 20 seconds stop, listen, and observe for 10 seconds. 2) Look at the position of your friendly units on the minimap, this will help you better understand where the frontline is, and gaps in this line is likely where the enemy has broken through. 3) Work with your team, but don't depend upon them. Use scouting, your machine gun, and map call outs, drones, and squad markers (if in a squad) to try and communicate. Only about 20% to 40% of players pay attention, but they can make all the difference. War Thunder is a team-based game and often winning requires supporting your team, even if your team is awful. 4) Don't move around if you are around team members, as your engine noise covers up enemy engine noise. Move when the friendly tanks around you are moving. If a friendly vehicle is doing a lot of movement around you they'll likely attract enemies and it's best to just move away from them or use them as bait. Don't rock back and forth out of cover unless you're the only tank around or you are doing it to engage an enemy. 5) When doing CAS, you'll have the easiest time spotting enemy targets when they're firing, and if you see an enemy vehicle firing they are essentially the highest priority target (apart from grouped up enemies when you can get multiple kills). Bombing enemy vehicles at the spawn isn't super helpful for winning, same with revenge bombing. 6) The new "Air Alert" feature is super under rated, if you see an enemy aircraft point your cursor at it and use Air Alert - this is like scouting in the air, and enemy air units show up on the HUD for your friendly players. This can help your team understand if now is a bad time to spawn CAS, or alert anti-CAS. Use Air Alert for every new aircraft you see. 7) Definitely use bushes and camo your tank. There's no reason not to and they're a lot more balanced now. Not using bushes just puts your tank at a disadvantage, and Warthunder is ALWAYS and will always be play to win, so just get over it - half of your team is in premium vehicles but people are bashing $5 in bushes?
Bushes are overrated -- I propose War Thunder players to use the almighty "virginity shield" to improve their survivability by putting all 4 anime girl body pillows on their tanks. Works 100%, trust.
Tips from my experience playing majority mid tier 1) always flank, doesnt matter if you have a heavy tank or a gun that can front pen everyone its always better to shoot before being shot at 2) when fighting tanks that can easily pen any part of your armor treat your tank like a box of crew and ammo and angle those parts away from the line of fire 3) dont sit still unless you are about to shoot or are trying to stay silent, someone might be trying to aim for your weakspots 4) set quick binds to change weaponry such as secondary guns and machine guns, its far easier to aim them when you use their deicated sight 5) angle and wiggle your tank, doesnt matter if you have no armor volumetric might save you more often than the enemy getting ghost shelled 6) bring a variety of vehicles, you dont want to be stuck in a large map with a heavy tank or a city map with an atgm carrier 7) know the position of your crew, sometimes you can bait people into shooting your loader instead of gunner 8) pay attention to your team position, its unlikely that theres enemies right behind the front lines and its likely that theres enemies just beyond your furthest teammates 9) know your vehicle, know how much you can pen, how fast you can move, how stable your gun is, and any other quirks it may have 10) know your enemies, a lot of tanks have weird weakspots that they themselves might not even know
1 turning off engine - I do actually do this sometimes. Unless I feel i will need to move quick. 2 preset rangefinder - yes this is something I should do more. I preset my canon position but often forget to run a rangefind. 3 Do not randomly shoot MGs - Yeah so many people do this and its annoying when you are trying to hide behind cover and guy next to you is just giving away your position or randomly shoots you and makes you think an enemy could be shooting you. 4 Use binoculars to move cannon - I do this all the time, probably too much as sometimes I click to move cannon but accidentally fire instead as I came out of binoculars too quick. 5 Use point of reference to aim shots - Good idea. Dont know why I dont pay attention to the distance on those markers. 6 I feel that is more situational. If I feel I could survive one vehicle but not the other then yes I would kill or disable the more dangerous one first, but if both are likely to kill me easily then I will shoot which ever is most likely to get me a kill or the most points before I die. 7 I am always looking for smoke, antenna, sounds etc. This is absolutely key for tracking enemy positions.
2: you can also rangefind close to enemy tank, crew will pretty accurately say the distance. 3: You also won't hear anything when spamming MG 4: commander's sight is also useful to shoot when gunner sight is obsctructed or especially to scout. 5: after a year of playing, MK1 eyeball will be enough anyway. 8: scouting overall helps to win games and won games yeld more rewards than lost ones. Additional tips: - in city maps, try to be further back from corners, if enemies are behind it. Your silouhete is much smaller if they decide to peek out, while you have upper hand. - Another one is to allow hook when you immobilised and unable to fire. Allies might help you by towing you behind cover, where you can be repaired safely. - it you are in SPAA, don't blast at planes that are too far away. Let them come closer, to ensure taking them down. - avoid standing on open areas, even try to use shadows, so your armor won't shine in sunlight (this doesn't apply to ULQ players)
When I’m in an spaa and I know there’s only 1 or 2 aircraft, I will try and shot at the plane to gain there attention and try and give me a straight shot (I suck at spaa and can’t lead well)
@@MenGamer127 therefore most aircraft will avoid you. And you are giving off your position, just like Tankenstein talked about with MG. Go further with your team, but stay a bit behind, so enemy tanks cannot jump you. Hold fire and wait for enemy cas to focus on your teammates, then shoot. They will keep flying close to you, so they should be an easy kill. Also keep track of plane speed - when diving they are harder to hit, but if they try to make a turn, they are slow and easy prey.
@@jedenasty2226 Not really, most players are desperate for kills. To the point where they won't avoid you just bc you're an spaa. I do the same thing as the other guy sometimes. I've been playing since 2016 and the player base still haven't learned to stop being so desperate. Also idk if it's just me but you can tell what kind of player they are by the way they fly their plane. As in you can tell if they're desperate or actually smart.
The further back from corners thing is real life. You never come around a corner from right up on the wall. You pull back so you can expose yourself more gradually and see if there's someone there. In WT, if you're right up against the wall as you peek, you're more vulnerable to getting tracked before your turret clears the wall and then you are stuck where you can't shoot them, but they can continue to shoot you.
Guide for new German mains Hello there fellow German main. I assume you have two braincells and one is pushing the other in a wheelchair. Fear not, I have a guide to help you. Step 1: You are chronically in the gunner sight. Get out and look around for God's sake. Step 2: You can make a sick edit later. Turn off Erika and you might be able to hear the jumbo next to you Step 3: Please angle your Tiger I. Please please please angle. Step 4: When you hear "Cover me" check the minimap, it shows who asked for help. Go help them. Step 5: Check the minimap a lot. So many times I've scouted rats and flankers and braindead tigers don't look behind them at the M18 even after their three oblivious teammates died. It's not that hard. It only takes a second. Step 6: Help your teammates repair. Please.
Had the same problem with all the big 3 nations, can scout targets for 10 minutes and teammates will literally drive up to them and die 😅 I think I've seen the least braindead players using Italy, Britain or France.
tip no. 1 is such an underappreciated tactic. I personally rely on sound a LOT, especially in urban maps for enemy awareness - i imagine many players have their engine sound turned down and other players turned up for this reason. for light tanks like an m18, getting into a nice cosy corner, turning off your engine and waiting has gotten me so many kills, and gotten me killed so many times. Also, for air battles, i'd actually say this is MORE effective. sound is equally important if not more so for game awareness, and if you're dropping on a plane from a higher altitude, turning off your engine while diving and then turning it back on as you strafe and climb again is a great way to get enemy players unaware.
Video idea, etiquette in WT. For example, turn on hook when you need "help with repair". Not spamming SPAA near another friendly open top vehicle that could potentially draw CAS towards them. Try not to block line of sight for players behind you. Mark enemy location on the map when you just got killed. Rally important information to team(PE-8 coming, IS-2 on B) Etc.
Went into this video thinking I wasn't going to learn anything, but I've actually never thought to use the distance that caps have to help with aiming. I'll keep it in mind going forward, thanks Tank. o7
The biggest thing I will recommend to every player is to never try to outsnipe or outfight another player. Getting into slugging matches is the leading reason for snowballing losses. Map control is far more important than getting the opening volley kill on the enemy team, and even then, trying to win a sniper duel if you don’t take the opening shot is not only detrimental, but the reason why your team will get shut down. The second is to never expect the same thing to work differently the second time around. If you think you got the drop on someone if you’re going the same path you went down previously, chances are that you’re giving a free kill. Thirdly, anticipate what your opponent is going to do. Some maps are known for each team picking a certain plan just based on what side of the map they are on, and that allows you to pick routes to flank and ambush. Fourth, always pack some variety. It’s better to try and win to get the victory bonus with multiple vehicles than it is to be one and done with a single tank. (You know who you are…) Lastly, always call in enemies you can’t kill/pursue so that the team knows. A lot of games are lost because one light tank snuck around and keeps tagging everyone because someone *did* see it… but never told the rest of his team.
Keep the horizon low on your screen and check dense areas with the edge markers for enemies. The little red arrows points out well hid or bushed up tanks, a tiny visible sliver will indicate with a red arrow
Useful tip on using an objective for distance measuring. The distance given to the zone is from you to the closest edge of the zone, not the center of the zone.
Major tip you should’ve included is use one way sight lines where you can easily see enemies before they see you and have to fully expose themselves to even see you
The thing with the bonus tip and top tier is that everyone else does that so when I charge down the middle I catch their entire team that flanked off guard
Could you link me to or make a video highlighting good positioning on maps that exclusively show up BR 5.0 to 8.0-ish, and not lower? I find I have a harder time right now on Holland, American Desert (hate this map because of how poorly I know how to play it), etc.. Also, is there any way to stop a smurf from annihilating your entire team, especially when playing solo? I just want to enjoy my gaming at 3.7 to 5.0 without having some level 100 guy hunt me down and kill me repeatedly because I killed him (and maybe his squadmate or two) like literally once (lol).
When you say press X button(scouting or turning off engine for example) can you please say the default key, I dont know where some of those buttons are if I'm new
I will say that I know all of these tips, (that being said, it was still a good video), I guess I'm just having trouble with getting these tips as muscle memory. It's also a bit difficult trying to get the tips to work when they're made redundant, i.e. you turn off your engine but the enemy comes round the corner and still knows you're there
@@fulturk4306 I own a Xbox and perfer to play war thunder on pc because I've played on pc for nearly 3-5 years already, and I'm not buying a ps5 either
@@Krieg_General Yeah, the new gen consoles(PS5,Xbox SX) can handle warthunder and multiple large games at once quite well for half the price of a decent PC, if you are looking for performance for an affordable price then a console is not a bad option, and you can just plug in a keyboard and mouse if that's what you prefer.
Stop using reflex smoke especially if allies are near by. 9/10 it will just get you killed because the enemy clearly already knows your position and now us friendlies can’t see to fire back at them. Ofc this is situation dependent but it happens often
I need a video on how to compensate for the inadequacies of console playing. Not enough buttons to program everything. Can't fly. I got the stick and throttle for the PS and it still doesn't work because the game just isn't designed for joysticks. That said, I have way too much time and money invested to start over on PC.
You can bind A LOT of stuff on console controllers, more stuff than you'll be able to remember. I've been playing for years and still constantly update my controls to optimize, but it really helps to stick with a couple varieties of weapons - like fancy top tier features you just need to bind and then remember to use. It takes a lot of muscle memory and it's real hard to get used to a controller layout and then do a sudden change. As far as getting the most out of your controller, you can use button combos for the greatest effect - for example, down on the d-pad + left bumper + any other key with your right hand. Mousing aim while flying will never get you very far in CAS or aircraft, so you will need to reconfigure your controller entirely for that, there's videos on how to do that. In Ground RB I used mouse aiming for flying on Xbox and I'm pretty decent. Most games I'm in the upper part of my team. Honestly, bigger issue for console is to get a quality set of headphones for the game. I use the Xbox ones, but find something high quality. This game is 70% audio and audio configuration.
Tip for actual new players: These guides are useful but most of it comes with experience (trust me I tried to rely mainly on tutorials back in the day)
Bruh I use 4/7 already and the first two isn't available for me because I can't juggle with that many keybinds on a controller and the Binoculars usage is the same. And since I can't hear the enemy's engine either way they doesn't really matter to me (WT is being WT) and I die instantly across the map either way so thanks I guess? It tells a lot that my lowest KD is in my top "tank" (MFV but Gaijin categorises it as a light tank) I have 3 kills to approx 150 deaths. No APFSDS, No LR, 9 out of 10 matches in full uptier. Fun😢
The same can be said to you : here come the Classic asshole viewer sitting behind his screen, clicked on a video he didnt enjoy but instead of moving on, he feels the need of leave a useless comment to show how much of an asshole he is. Lol take it easy and move on
Explaining to the players to not randomly shoot their cannons and mgs into the air is like explaining to the hadjis in iraq what soap is. However, I appreciate it when they do so o can see where the window lickers are.

Lastly, always call in enemies you can’t kill/pursue so that the team knows.
Thank you, im a tank main and me and everyone else appreciate this video

You're doing tricks on it lmao
Useful tip on using an objective for distance measuring. The distance given to the zone is from you to the closest edge of the zone, not the center of the zone.
Yah I gota say one of the biggest issues I see when a match starts is that I flank and everyone else pretty much goes right for the hot spot
Major tip you should’ve included is use one way sight lines where you can easily see enemies before they see you and have to fully expose themselves to even see you
The thing with the bonus tip and top tier is that everyone else does that so when I charge down the middle I catch their entire team that flanked off guard
Damn, I'm already doing all of these things and I'm still bad at the game lol someone send help
McKong gaming does very good map/vehicle guides
Very nice, I definitely need to pre range more and scout before I shoot whenever possible.
Im not worrying about getting new vehicles and grinding. Im on and off of the game. But these tips will improve my enjoyment, and so i dont get killed
When you say press X button(scouting or turning off engine for example) can you please say the default key, I dont know where some of those buttons are if I'm new
Default for scouting I think is V, and engine is I. Just find them in settings
Active scouting, and toggle engine
@@dihannvanniekerk thank you sir.

Great tip for my teammates: if you open your eye lids you tend to see more than when they're closed
I will say that I know all of these tips, (that being said, it was still a good video), I guess I'm just having trouble with getting these tips as muscle memory. It's also a bit difficult trying to get the tips to work when they're made redundant, i.e. you turn off your engine but the enemy comes round the corner and still knows you're there
What I would like are some team strategies based on maps.
Until I get a decent rig to remotely play without keyboard drift or lag these tips will not stop my suffering
Agreed
Just buy a PS5
@@fulturk4306 I own a Xbox and perfer to play war thunder on pc because I've played on pc for nearly 3-5 years already, and I'm not buying a ps5 either
@@Krieg_General Yeah, the new gen consoles(PS5,Xbox SX) can handle warthunder and multiple large games at once quite well for half the price of a decent PC, if you are looking for performance for an affordable price then a console is not a bad option, and you can just plug in a keyboard and mouse if that's what you prefer.
@fulturk4306 that's not the point, Im not transferring my account if I even can to xbox
im tired and its 1 am but the snail is hungry
I actually knew all of these and i've been playing since new power update
Stop using reflex smoke especially if allies are near by. 9/10 it will just get you killed because the enemy clearly already knows your position and now us friendlies can’t see to fire back at them. Ofc this is situation dependent but it happens often
“ I typically aim my cannon where most enemies tend to be.” Thanks 😂😂😂 haha jkjk but it was funny to here
I need a video on how to compensate for the inadequacies of console playing. Not enough buttons to program everything. Can't fly. I got the stick and throttle for the PS and it still doesn't work because the game just isn't designed for joysticks. That said, I have way too much time and money invested to start over on PC.
You can use your console account on pc my friend used to play on console then he switched to pc 5 months ago and he still uses the same account
Tip for actual new players: These guides are useful but most of it comes with experience (trust me I tried to rely mainly on tutorials back in the day)
I always set my rangefinder to 100 when I spawn in since APFSDS can go quite far
After winning 5 games in a row, take 5 other nations, leave immediately in each and hope for lose. Then go back to normal playing, you're welcome.
Fun😢
What tank?

if i do all of these and still suck at the game? guess i'm exactly what people says "skill issue"
Explaining to the players to not randomly shoot their cannons and mgs into the air is like explaining to the hadjis in iraq what soap is. However, I appreciate it when they do so o can see where the window lickers are.
