The body cast was one thing, but Peggy probably also hit her head pretty hard in that skydiving accident. She becomes monstrously insane in the following seasons.

There's a fan theory that the skydiving accident turned her into a worse person for the rest of the series. The theory is that Peggy suffered a traumatic brain injury, because before this she was sorta likeable; she'd be a terrible person after this.

Both Hank and Peggy have had near-death experiences in this series, Peggy with her skydiving incident and Hank with the Mega-Lo Mart explosion. Despite this, they move on as a couple pretending like those events never happened, and it amazes me.
Quizzy, Dee Dee has postpartum depression; some women get depression after birth bc it’s a hormonal stress on the body. That’s why she was like “what’s the use.” Not to kill the vibe but I thought I’d throw that in there 😭

It's hard to get a proper estimate of how many people have survived falls from aircraft, but a quick google search turns up nine high-profile cases, including one from 33,330ft (10,160m)!
I read somewhere an estimated 1 out of every 1000 parachutes don't open. Scary thought if you ever go skydiving. ☹️
I don't think you can sue, I believe you have to sign a waiver before you jump out of a perfectly good airplane

That's the entire point of the waiver is that you cannot sue
You can always sue for gross negligence but it's very hard to prove. You have to press charges as well. The Hills do not have anywhere near the kind of money to take on that kind of task.

They wouldn’t have been able to sue the company that does the skydiving lessons, they make people sign a waiver, but they probably have a case against whoever makes those parachutes
A threat of it going to court might lead the company to offering a settlement.

Didi has post-traumatic depression they covered two things in one episode. Its way less rare than falling out of a plane and living. But it is a real thing they use to commit women back in the day for it, and men would use it as an excuse to divorce and get a new wife. These days it can be treated easier.

it is possible to survive without a parachute from a bit fall. vesna vulovic survived a 6.3 mile fall which is about 33k feet, peggy fell 8k feet, and lived from the fall. its iirc the record and she survived it when a plane had an explosion. so not only did she survive a plane explosion but also four times the fall that peggy did so its very possible for peggy to survive this.
To be fair after so much distance it doesn't make much of a difference if it's higher, after you hit your terminal velocity your not gonna be hitting the ground any harder either way, but to survive a plane explosion AND a fall is insane.

You're so right about the health care system. About ten years ago, Time magazine did an expose on inflated hospital costs. It's insanely bad across the board, but the example I always remember is that they charge us $400 for a bag of saline drip that costs them $35. That's more than 90% markup. What the fuck do they need with all that money??
I think some one survived a fall like that around the before they wrote this but I remember as a kid there was someone who had that happen, odds are stupid low like being struck by lighting low but it does happen.
I think the doctor more means he got a nasty head injury from a jet ski accaident.

People on the spectrum do develop a big attachment to objects, like Hank with Propane. He also has a problem expressing emotions in public, & gets uncomfortable with physical contact besides handshakes.
Plus he’s super meticulous, he bought a level measurer at a yard sale, put it next to one he already had, & saw they were uneven, lol
