I think Dale knows, but also knows that if he confronted the situation then he'd be the only loser.
John and Nancy would get together and without Nancy's income he'd be poverty stricken with limited access to the boy who knows him as dad.
This way, he lives in a decent house, doesn't have to be financially responsible and raises John's son without John getting any of the benefits. It's like a mix between an arranged marriage and adoption.
Also the way John flexed showed that he wasn't scared of a fight with Hank, but I feel like Hank would give a heck of a fight; win or lose John would not soon forget it.
And yeah, Dale has awful friends.

I hate that for dale but the lesson is being a MAN.. dale needs to focus and get his money up, get his physical up and everthing.. he loves them kids and nun wrong with that but the man gets disrespected at every turn.. what he needs to do is learn how to do his wife better and she prob wouldn’t even need John Redcorn or if she did it would be a lot less.. but she has a emotional attachment to that man and not physical through the son.. not sorry but I would take the consequences and leave her and try to figure out my life at that point

this episode was meant to make you feel weird, awkward and uncomfortable. it didn't tip toe around the reality or sugar coat it, just BAM! right there in your face. and yet Dale, the absolute paranoid skitzo of the bunch remains the only one oblivious. god this show has such good writing.

Still, wouldn't that be the best kind of vengeance? Like, picture the scene. The boys are grown up, and John Redcorn is on his next mid-life crisis. He comes to the alley to confront Dale in a very public way.

To me, that just sounds so petty and childish that I just roll my eyes. What would that say about Dale? That his son's love isn't mucuh better than a tool for vengeance against a man who Dale thought of as a friend, but Dale just stands there and gets smug about him having a better life than him? Again, that's so petty that it makes Dale look pathetic to me, not good or entertaining.
The reason Hank doesn't tell Dale is because he doesn't want to destroy the Father/son dynamic Dale has with Joseph, even though Joseph is not his son, its a poetic justice that Dale gets to rob John Redcorn his Fatherhood from him for sleeping with his wife.
You wanna know something weird? It's over 20 years later, and I still remember watching this episode, and going into the Simpsons pissed off. I feel you, Quizzy.
I think the main reason no one says anything is for Joseph's sake. I mean he didn't do anything, he's just as much a victim as Dale. And they dont know how bad the reveal will shake his world or even his relationship with Dale. Im not saying its an excuse, they should have gone to Dale the second they found out about it (because its implied they knew before Joseph was born) and then none if this would have happened

I think the best arguement I've heard is that Dale is such a good trusting person, he could never even conceive of someone close to him betraying him. The few episodes that Hank does it completely blindsides and breaks him. Nancy is the same, even if she doesn't deserve it.

I think its possible Dale knows but he thinks everyone else doesn't know so he doesn't say anything. I think the Alien Episode is Dale telling Joseph in his own way. Joseph will grow up and think back on it and realize Dale was trying to tell him.
The last thing he tells to Peggy is the proof of that: he lives in a constant state of deep depression he doesn't want to admit it, so it could also why so many conspiracy theories aswell

Quizzy I'm glad your still watching and reacting to King Of the Hill episodes and in my opinion King Of the Hill will always be one of the funniest animated comedies on TV. I don’t think you understand how everyone around them feels, they don’t see it as their place to uproot that whole family especially Joseph’s and dale’s relationship. They’d be depriving Joseph of a true father figure for a dude that’s not necessarily the best example of how to be a man nor cared at all about Joseph for the first 13 years of his life not to mention I don’t think any of his friends feel it’s right for them to be the one that breaks dale’s happiness and potentially turns him into a paranoid gun toting version of bill. This one of those situations where his friends have decided to man up and take on the burden of knowing and having to live with that fact in order to allow a kid to grow up with a father in his life sounds way more noble to me the only real issue is that everybody let it get to this point where their hands are tied but they also never delve into like the start of Nancy and John red corn and how long it took for everybody to find out
I'd love to see more King of the Hill on the channel. I'd seen episodes but I never really watched it until you started it and it's been so much fun.
I personally understand the reason it's best not to tell Dale about Nancy's affair is because, well…Hank once put it best: *_"We're putting pressure on a structure that wasn't even up to code in the first place."_* Dale is mentally unstable, his ties to reality are already tenuous at best, do you really think it's a good idea to tell the crazy man who has guns in his house that the woman he loves has been cheating on him?

That’s the joke. Dale has all these conspiracies but at the same time he is very trusting of his love ones. In another episode Nancy tells Hank it’s not hard to fool tell if he cares for you.
Just walking in to people's houses is semi common with some people. Especially rural white people. You walk just walk in and say out loud "knock knock". Now this is really only done with people you know really well and the people of the house will usually tell the person first "you don't need to knock, just come on in". So kind of like Kramer from Seinfeld but a bit less dramatic. :)
