My favorite world pvp kill in Vanilla involved a player chasing me underwater, where I led them to the bottom and then used entangling roots on them, then changed to my aquatic form to watch them drown as they couldn't swim upwards. :)
BoltHardcheese reminds me of the time that a dwarf pally /rp walked, emoted "sigh" and walked into a lake and drown himself in front of me. Rather then face my shadow priest. Lol
Hah I’m leveling a classic Druid just for camping the docks at menethil harbor. I can’t wait to do this to people who chase me into the water or try jumping off the boats to get away.
Moonglade is actually very helpful. While levelling you can tele to it to learn new skills and then hearth back to your questing area. Huge time saver.
I feel like people who watch these videos dont really understand the RP aspect of this game at all. Moonglade is a beautiful peaceful zone that you can just teleport to to chillax, listen to some cool soothing music, turn into a bear, go to sleep by the lake shore and light up a joint to enjoy the peaceful experience. Sometime a WOW zone is just there for that... to have a beautiful relaxing experience.
Teleporting to Moonglade was great at the end of a dungeon, there is a blacksmith right next to where you port in sell your trash/repair then port back to the entrance and leave no running all the way back to get out.
Great video! Came here from reddit to say keep it up, especially with Classic releasing in the future. Love the idea of going through vanilla classes, but take it further and talk about everything vanilla to build up videos in time for Classic. Ie: best classic area for resources, best classic raid, best classic trade skills, etc... Keep it up 👍🏻
I loved playing druid. It was my first class, and I loved the fact that you can be a roguelike cat, and if you pull too much aggro, swap to bear and bamb! Your standing toe to toe with the tank, and then heal yourself. My usual rotation was was cat until at 50-60 percent health, cast my heal over time, then be a bear.
First, very nice video. Second - I had a T1/T2 Druid @ Nost and I really liked the class - awesome levelling experience, pretty decent healing in raids (Priests are the best but Shamans and Druids are similar). The class is versatile and it's great for levelling - a party of 5 druids was unkillable in PvP.
Good video makes me want to toll druid again for classic. I was a resto druid in vanilla because they were so rare I instantly got into a raiding guild and really enjoyed it. Managed to clear up to half of nax, the one thing that was annoying though was no normal Res.
I saw a guy tanking AQ40 and naxx with a druid and even stated some bosses are easier than doing them with a warrior. Reason is they fixed druid tanking in the last patch of vanilla but people don't know about it.

@@davidpower5710 because the fights last fucking forever and it's just a battle of forms and since they have hibernate you can't shape shift so your stuck in caster form and for another reason I don't remember you can't do spells in caster form do it's a auto attack battle
Played Druid in (original) Vanilla. Thanks for your guide. First of all. If you choose Druid, you do it because you like the class phantasy. And beeing an underdog. Levelling as feral is nice. The possibility to stealth, using cat for killing mobs, entering bear when you made a fail-pull and healing yourself and others in problems is great. Not a lot of downtime between fights. Travel and water form are a nice additions. A good advice is to have a healing gearset with you. During levelling and when you're 60 and doing dungeons as cat. You're in the middle of a dungeon and your healer left? Just wear healer set - it takes a bit more of drinking ofc. But you can continue doing the dungeon. For tanking, there's the purple healing staff (mid-40ies? forgot the name) which gives additional armory. Endgame PVE means Resto (healing, innervate for priest, HotW and battle rez). In later Raids, Bears may be welcome. PVP? For me the problem was getting feral gear. Doing AV until beeing excalted for getting Unstoppable Force will take a while. Killing a ganker with OP class/spec is very rewarding :) But having a rogue in the back of you? Just go to the kitchen, grab a beer or sandwich and do the corpserun after... Other thing which was nice: Teleport Moonglade. Just for shortening travel time sometimes or for the class trainer. Back then in my realm, when you met a Druid of the other faction, no PVP was involved.
Druids were poor raid tanks because they couldn't mitigate chane to get critted by level 63 enemies (avoidance or defense stat?, these were almost nonexistent on non plate items)...
Tbh Druid where very hard for Rogue to kill. If Rogue where not epic geared he would loose tons of Hp just because of thorns if he was bashing Feral tank druid. Shadow Priest and Warlocks where much harder than Rogues.
Damn you reminded me of something I completely forgot, no pvp allowed between druids as a general rule! I have no idea how common that was, I wasn't even playing druid but I was aware of that thing going on between them, like an urban legend. That was pretty nice. It's a strong lore related class, it definitely helped people loving their character and be more roleplay oriented I believe.

Interesting to see how this mindset has changed in the last couple years. I mained a druid in classic, first ever druid at that, and had never paid them much attention prior. Ended up being the most fun wow experience I've had since the first time I logged in, in 2004.
We actually had a main tank druid in vanilla, he was so dedicated to "proving the warriors wrong" and he actually made it past BWL in terms of progress, which, if you ask me, is impressive!
Well end game they just didn't perform as well as warriors. But if i remember correctly, they tanked MC just fine, and did very well aoe in dungeons. And to be fair, most of us wont be full epic geared. I will play a druid even tho they might not be the best end gamers, so what :D
I think, out of all the classes i've considered, druid seems like it would be the most fun experience. other classes i like because i want to raid, pvp...druid just seems like i'd have a blast exploring and leveling, and just enjoying vanilla wow....maybe thats a sign i should pick it.
Loved my Druid in classic. I was able to go a hybrid resto/feral spec in a serious pvp/pve guild. Mostly healed in raids but off tanked and dpsed when needed. In pvp I was beast. Obviously flag running in WSG but also great at solo flag defense in AB. Only classes that were a real problem 1-1 was warlocks, shadow priests and one beast shockadin on our server. Everything else was easy prey or at least equal if they were skilled and geared.
Something big you forgot to mention, moonkin form is considered humanoid. Which means you can use all your engineering stuff while having moonkin form armor contribution, something you can’t do in cat or bear form, you also can’t be put to sleep by other druids while in moonkin form but you can still put other druids to sleep while in moonkin form. Also I’ve never been out dpsd by any other class against chromaggus, one more huge thing I forgot to mention, during the Druid call against nefarian if your in moonkin form you can still continue casting, using consumes while in cat form effectively making you immune to your class call.
No mention of the Heart of the Wild Feral+Resto spec? It's one of the most flexible specs in the game because it can off-tank and heal in raids; all you have to do is some gear swapping depending on what your role is for that particular pull.
I'm levelling a Paladin when Vanilla comes around, so it'd be great to see a video on that class. I'll be watching all of them though, so any is good really :)
Powershift feral are taken to almost every raid on lights hope. They top MC/BWL and in top 5 in AQ. The rotation isn't hard. It's the most fun for vanilla thats for sure.
druids are the second best levelers especially on a pvp fresh realm, under hunters of course. they can out tag most classes with moonfire macro, the improved cat speed helps them get ahead with the mobility and they can escape most ganks/use stealth to their advantage. They also have basically no downtime if you play them right.
Would you recommend this for a beginner healer in Classic? I mainly want to raid, even high level like AQ40 and Naxx, though I've never actually raided in Vanilla.
If you're good enough druid player you can pretty much do it all somewhat effectively except high end raid maintanking, But that's exactly why I like it....Ubrs run sure tank or healer can do both with a 0 / 30 / 21 spec if you have decent gearsets for both jobs offtank in mc or bwl sure no problem again if you have the gear. Healing with only 21 points in resto while of course is not optimal it is certainly workable. It just simply is the perfect class for the do it all people out there like me.
You can do pretty good dps as a feral druid, like top dps, it requires the crowd control plumber, and the wolf sheds helm, if you get those items plus attack power gear, you can deal some high dps, thought alliance druids have an advantage in fight that are three or more minutes because they do run out of Mana from switching in and out of cat form, looking up a dps guide before you try
Druids are awesome healers for raids.. and they also tank very well once u get proper gear. I used to tank in 40man raids... one of the very few druids in wow to tank in raids bc i had the gear and my guild allowed me to.
Not being able to use roots indoors was taken directly from Everquest, like a huge portion of spell names and philosophies were directly inspired from Everquest or taken.
About PVE resto, imo HotW is better than swiftmend. As a resto druid in dungeons or raids you spend most of your time spamming healing touch rank 4, you only use rejuv when you're forced to move. HotW gives you more mana, allowing you to spam healing touch for a longer period of time. However, with good gear, a moonglow spec is probably the best healing spec for endgame PVE. I think Powerfulnoun's 1/29/21spec is the best druid spec overall because it is a very powerful (lol) spec that allows you to cover all the three roles in PvE (tank/heal/dps) and also PvP as a healer or some kind of ghetto affliction spec dpser. You should check Powerfulnoun's noobs druid guide on youtube. About balance PvP, I noticed you linked the feral charge spec but you forgot to mention the 30/0/21 spec with NS.
the real reason for druids in raids is heal stacking. priests and pally can burst way better, and can keep people up. but druids relieve healing pressure and ballance out heals by having stacking hots. if a priest casts renew on a target which already has a renew, the shorter duration one will be replaced, even when the new heal is worse. but druid refresh and rejuv don't mess with renew. the hot effects in effect dampen the strain the raid feels for healing, thus the maximum simultaneous hots you can have on a tank reduce teh difficultly of all fights. the heals themselves may seem inferior to alternatives but it is cause you are thinking in the retail mindset of your capacity to act not being infringed by other players. this isn't the case. if you are going for a healing role, you will want to make sure you have other healers going for complementary roles.
While you are right about stacking, Druids don't use too many HoTs during raiding in Vanilla. Rather, they mainly use Healing Touch and downranked versions of the spell. The reason why is because it's the most powerful heal in the game! Full healing bonus due to casting time, varrying ranks and cast times, etc.
My first main was a Rogue, but then I discovered Druid. OH WOW. It is such a fun class to play. I highly recommend playing druid. My 3rd main was a Hunter but was boring as soon as I hit 60. My 4th main was a pally, it was meh.
I did the exact same, 60 rogue into 60 Druid. Don’t regret that decision being on PvP servers choosing your own battles with stealth and being versatile with the multitude of CC from both classes. Also bear form + green whelp armor = life.
I've been playing resto druid, and it was not a that bad choice afterall. Yes, you'll always be a few percent below palas/shamans/priests in healing, but not that far off. For dungeons, ye, not being able to resurrect players sucks somehow, but the best combination for a druid in a dungeon is a shadow priest anyway for the group healing makes it a lot easier on certain boss encounters (baron in example), but people shouldn't die in the first place. I'll be playing a resto druid again, and if for nothing else, you'll be brought for mark of the wild and innervate :D.
For me the Druid is the best class for someone that only has time to play one character and wants the ability to play every role. I am torn between rolling yet another druid for classic or playing a hunter this time around. I have never played a hunter due to the stigma of being a noob class or being considered a huntard.
It's almost impossible to kill a resto druid with high spirit. I've been able to solo mobs no other class or druid spec has been able to solo, however it took me 10 mins+ EACH to kill those elite mobs.
I did Boomkin just for fun. It was fun, but lonely. Can't find a group at all! No one wants an oomkin lol. Fun solo, and capped soooo many flags. Awesome flag carriers
Entangling roots has never saved a druid from me. Throwing weapons seem to be a nice way around that. But my highest and first classic toon is a 31 warrior. so what do I know?
Played Druid back in vanilla mostly PvP because i had no time für raiding. But PvP is the best: with enough skill and gear grinding you are almost unstoppable in 1v1 and still hard in 1v2/3. in Warsong Gulch you are the king. Search for a Premade and i guarantee you many hours of fun PvP time
Hi what race should i play for druid NE or Tauren i have leveled a Tauren once so i dont know how alliance class quest works and what are best zones to level as an alliance druid.
In premades I ALWAYS see a resto in WSG. They are so damn annoying, but if you BG seriously then you'll always have one of them as dedicated flag runners. And don't get me started on 3x warriors, shaman premades that use windfury. God that's also annoying. I love vanilla PvP lul
feral druids, best dps class... if you bring 30 crowd pummelers per raid, only takes... 1hour per crowd pummeler lol, or 20minutes depending on wether it even drops or not....
What you said about druid tanks being bag in raids is incorrect. And are on some fights in high end raids even preferred over warriors. I wouls suggest checking out skarm tank`s youtube channel
There is a super complex dps rotation with wolfshead helm (classicdb.ch/?item=8345) who with some carpal tunnel can pull a little more dps than other classes. But this is on private servers who knows how this is going to roll on classic.
Well, everyone seems to already be on the mage/rogue/warrior train, maybe something other than those? :P I've personally already picked a class and spec, eagerly awaiting the release!

Plasma it's the Wolfshead Helm. A level 40 Blue BOE made by Tribal Leatherworkers. It has a passive that grants you 5 rage when you shift into Bear form and 20 Energy when you shift into Cat form.There is no other piece like it in the game. You can't effectively power shift as feral dps without it. The other piece you must have is the Manual Crowd Pummeler a Level 29 two handed mace from Gnomergoran which has an on use effect with three charges that increases your attack speed by 50% for 30 seconds. You need to farm lots of these if you want to raid as feral dps.
Things you forgot to mention bout healing is that druid scale the best out of any healer in vanilla and druid are great off tanks in MC and BWL and have some pulls where their better than warrios and a well played feral dps can compete with hunters, mages and warlocks
Problem with druid's scaling was that the gear you're most likely to get (druid specific gear due lack of competition) was itemized to be all over the place, and ideally you'd be running highly contended cloth pieces outside of key set bonuses, which you were last priority for. So yes, they scaled well with gear, but you were always the last class on the priority for any gear slot that wasn't limited to druids only.
What Class do you want to see next?

Yeah, most people don't realize that druid dodge didn't work at all until the last patch of original wow.

Prob will get easier to powershift with a macro when classic comes out.

druids are the second best levelers especially on a pvp fresh realm, under hunters of course. they can out tag most classes with moonfire macro, the improved cat speed helps them get ahead with the mobility and they can escape most ganks/use stealth to their advantage. They also have basically no downtime if you play them right.
In vanilla I played a resto druid with leather-working and skinning professions. it definitely was a pain in the ass haha

Would you recommend this for a beginner healer in Classic? I mainly want to raid, even high level like AQ40 and Naxx, though I've never actually raided in Vanilla.
I think druids are just fun. Their versatility makes them not nearly as boring. I loved being able to heal/tank or dps whenever too

If you're good enough druid player you can pretty much do it all somewhat effectively except high end raid maintanking, But that's exactly why I like it....Ubrs run sure tank or healer can do both with a 0 / 30 / 21 spec if you have decent gearsets for both jobs offtank in mc or bwl sure no problem again if you have the gear. Healing with only 21 points in resto while of course is not optimal it is certainly workable. It just simply is the perfect class for the do it all people out there like me.

You can do pretty good dps as a feral druid, like top dps, it requires the crowd control plumber, and the wolf sheds helm, if you get those items plus attack power gear, you can deal some high dps, thought alliance druids have an advantage in fight that are three or more minutes because they do run out of Mana from switching in and out of cat form, looking up a dps guide before you try
Druids are awesome healers for raids.. and they also tank very well once u get proper gear. I used to tank in 40man raids... one of the very few druids in wow to tank in raids bc i had the gear and my guild allowed me to.
Not being able to use roots indoors was taken directly from Everquest, like a huge portion of spell names and philosophies were directly inspired from Everquest or taken.
About PVE resto, imo HotW is better than swiftmend. As a resto druid in dungeons or raids you spend most of your time spamming healing touch rank 4, you only use rejuv when you're forced to move. HotW gives you more mana, allowing you to spam healing touch for a longer period of time. However, with good gear, a moonglow spec is probably the best healing spec for endgame PVE.
I think Powerfulnoun's 1/29/21spec is the best druid spec overall because it is a very powerful (lol) spec that allows you to cover all the three roles in PvE (tank/heal/dps) and also PvP as a healer or some kind of ghetto affliction spec dpser. You should check Powerfulnoun's noobs druid guide on youtube.
About balance PvP, I noticed you linked the feral charge spec but you forgot to mention the 30/0/21 spec with NS.
the real reason for druids in raids is heal stacking.
priests and pally can burst way better, and can keep people up. but druids relieve healing pressure and ballance out heals by having stacking hots.
if a priest casts renew on a target which already has a renew, the shorter duration one will be replaced, even when the new heal is worse. but druid refresh and rejuv don't mess with renew. the hot effects in effect dampen the strain the raid feels for healing, thus the maximum simultaneous hots you can have on a tank reduce teh difficultly of all fights.
the heals themselves may seem inferior to alternatives but it is cause you are thinking in the retail mindset of your capacity to act not being infringed by other players. this isn't the case.
if you are going for a healing role, you will want to make sure you have other healers going for complementary roles.
While you are right about stacking, Druids don't use too many HoTs during raiding in Vanilla. Rather, they mainly use Healing Touch and downranked versions of the spell. The reason why is because it's the most powerful heal in the game!
Full healing bonus due to casting time, varrying ranks and cast times, etc.

My first main was a Rogue, but then I discovered Druid.
OH WOW. It is such a fun class to play. I highly recommend playing druid.
My 3rd main was a Hunter but was boring as soon as I hit 60.
My 4th main was a pally, it was meh.
I did the exact same, 60 rogue into 60 Druid. Don’t regret that decision being on PvP servers choosing your own battles with stealth and being versatile with the multitude of CC from both classes. Also bear form + green whelp armor = life.
I've been playing resto druid, and it was not a that bad choice afterall. Yes, you'll always be a few percent below palas/shamans/priests in healing, but not that far off. For dungeons, ye, not being able to resurrect players sucks somehow, but the best combination for a druid in a dungeon is a shadow priest anyway for the group healing makes it a lot easier on certain boss encounters (baron in example), but people shouldn't die in the first place. I'll be playing a resto druid again, and if for nothing else, you'll be brought for mark of the wild and innervate :D.
For me the Druid is the best class for someone that only has time to play one character and wants the ability to play every role. I am torn between rolling yet another druid for classic or playing a hunter this time around. I have never played a hunter due to the stigma of being a noob class or being considered a huntard.
On your resto pvp build you you should take 2 points from thick hide and put them into improved bash. You want the full 5 second stun !! :)
It's almost impossible to kill a resto druid with high spirit.
I've been able to solo mobs no other class or druid spec has been able to solo, however it took me 10 mins+ EACH to kill those elite mobs.

Entangling roots has never saved a druid from me. Throwing weapons seem to be a nice way around that. But my highest and first classic toon is a 31 warrior. so what do I know?

Played Druid back in vanilla mostly PvP because i had no time für raiding. But PvP is the best: with enough skill and gear grinding you are almost unstoppable in 1v1 and still hard in 1v2/3. in Warsong Gulch you are the king. Search for a Premade and i guarantee you many hours of fun PvP time
Hi what race should i play for druid NE or Tauren i have leveled a Tauren once so i dont know how alliance class quest works and what are best zones to level as an alliance druid.
In premades I ALWAYS see a resto in WSG. They are so damn annoying, but if you BG seriously then you'll always have one of them as dedicated flag runners.
And don't get me started on 3x warriors, shaman premades that use windfury. God that's also annoying. I love vanilla PvP lul
feral druids, best dps class... if you bring 30 crowd pummelers per raid, only takes... 1hour per crowd pummeler lol, or 20minutes depending on wether it even drops or not....

What you said about druid tanks being bag in raids is incorrect. And are on some fights in high end raids even preferred over warriors. I wouls suggest checking out skarm tank`s youtube channel
You're right, i went from resto during MC (did my 'dues') into feral dps than into tanking for AQ20/40 and the guild loved it.
There is a super complex dps rotation with wolfshead helm (classicdb.ch/?item=8345) who with some carpal tunnel can pull a little more dps than other classes. But this is on private servers who knows how this is going to roll on classic.

Plasma it's the Wolfshead Helm. A level 40 Blue BOE made by Tribal Leatherworkers. It has a passive that grants you 5 rage when you shift into Bear form and 20 Energy when you shift into Cat form.There is no other piece like it in the game. You can't effectively power shift as feral dps without it. The other piece you must have is the Manual Crowd Pummeler a Level 29 two handed mace from Gnomergoran which has an on use effect with three charges that increases your attack speed by 50% for 30 seconds. You need to farm lots of these if you want to raid as feral dps.
Things you forgot to mention bout healing is that druid scale the best out of any healer in vanilla and druid are great off tanks in MC and BWL and have some pulls where their better than warrios and a well played feral dps can compete with hunters, mages and warlocks

Problem with druid's scaling was that the gear you're most likely to get (druid specific gear due lack of competition) was itemized to be all over the place, and ideally you'd be running highly contended cloth pieces outside of key set bonuses, which you were last priority for. So yes, they scaled well with gear, but you were always the last class on the priority for any gear slot that wasn't limited to druids only.
Always thought Druids are decent healers, with their hots, good single and decent groupheals. Why are they considered worse than the others?
