Lovely machine, for me the 1930s were the golden age of British motorcycle manufacture, virtually all of my all time favourites are from this era. I used to fuss about originality but these days I much prefer to see bikes adapted and improved to make them rideable and useable, it's what they were built for eh. I love your passion, Thanks for sharing 🙂
This video is perfect! A knowledgeable person with a tastefully restored "proper" bike , I am so glad I found this video. The 20/21" rims do look so much nicer, and it does improve the handling, but it does become more difficult to get tyres, although if the bike is kept out of the sun ,(the sun here in the south of France is a problem for me), they should last a long time. Many thanks for posting this video! Chris B.
Really enjoyed this and you mentioned George Dance. I own a 1927 Model 6 long stroke Sunbeam (Flat Tanker) with a Brooklands silencer like yours. Great channel Thanks for posting 👍
what a wonderful video! I love that style of motorcycle, well used, bit oily, grubby but sound. lovely. thank you very much for a most enjoyable 10 mins. Has made me want to add an inter to my little collection of riders - and ride it. thanks again.
I am Frank and I found a very knackered CJTT engine.. it laid for trash in a corner and in wrong hands it would end in nothing .. it.s a bit canabalized but we bring it back in full glory ..
@@mrselk-VintageBikeBird No yet..... but who knows.....i hav 2 other projects to go....a 1948 Daytona Manx and a 1950 350 Manx .....that bike went from Norton to Germany. that 1931 CJTT engine belongs to a batch of 5 CJ TT Bikes that went to Switzerland Alfred Dumont Genova.. now I have to find out who raced it
@@mrselk-VintageBikeBird I get you -but from time to time it could be educational as well don't you think? It's a long time since i had old bikes and cars but those challenges were part of the reality. Very satisfying to win the battle too! Good luck with all you do though!
I own a 1937 350 cammy complete with Brooklands can, it's been a project for too long, mainly engine work as the crank needs rebuilding. I bought a new Alpha crank pin and bearing, need the rod race honing.
Is there a reason for not cleaning it? I don`t mean polish, just to get the petrol/oil stains off? I`m not ocd, ride all year, but I just wipe down with wd40 to help preserve the old beast. I am genuinely curious as I have seen this before.
I like it! There's always going to be a bit of oil flung around as the valves are exposed, so I do clean the oil off the engine but as soon as it's run it's back to square one!
I imported a 1929 Motobecane... they used the Blackburne 500 engine and Birman gear box.... seller claimed it was in " good condition "... No... took a couple years to get it a runner.... two broken gears in gearbox.... bad pistions.. bad valves... But it's a runner now.. fun old bike.... I wouldn't lease town on it... :)
I thought it was a band in the garage rehearsing, they changed to a country and western band later on, clearly a versatile combo. I SAID CLEARLY A VERSATILE COMBO.
Whilst I admire the motorcycles that are immaculate & look original, I much prefer ones that work as they should & get ridden as intended. Patina & a bit of muck & even corrosion, show they are ridden & not just garage queens.
Helt fantastisk, tusen takk 🏍️👍

Thanks! I have managed to get hold of a 21" front wheel, but it needs some attention before it can go on...
Thank you for such an interesting motorcycle channel. Just found it. Love your content. Thanks again.

Superb drive-by noise Julie, could listen to that all day! The engine seems mechanically quiet too.
Me Too. Now the engine's run in it's going really well!
Marvellous stuff! Thanks Julie!
Thanks Steve!
What an Icon !! . . . Certainty has its fair share of "Patina" lol 😆 . . . Sounds lovely
Always brings joy to my ear (and the neighbours - lol!)

Loving your channel - we can almost smell the petrol. :) Will you show the trick starts and troubleshooting as well as the first kick triumphs?
yebbut then folk make 'orrible comments...
@@mrselk-VintageBikeBird You mean you'd get trolled for appearing to struggle?? That would be a shame cos you obviously know what you're doing!
@@gercook52 TBH it would probably be pretty boring to watch, and also there could be quite a lot of cussing involved!

Seen it with the vid with Lana Shimmin in it nice bike! Real International racing look. Oh yeah and Happy New Year Julie!
Thanks - and HNY to you too! Hoping to do a ride-out video with Lana & Leila this year!
Great video on these interesting Nortons. Only small gripe.... the dialoque I found a bit muffled...maybe a better microphone? Keep it up . Cheers .NZ
Thanks for the feedback - new mikes on the list!

Is the front wheel correct? Looks small.Oh, I think you answered my query! Get a 21" wheel.
I have managed to get hold of a 21" front wheel, on an original rim, but it needs some attention before it can go on..
Does that Norton have total loss oiling?

First 3 minutes - When you're talking- stop the music. Annoying.
Doesn't annoy me . . . Its fine
