Marmite Commando Anyone? #classic motorcycle #norton #classicbike
Переглядів 96714 годин тому
Bike featured is Rick’s zany Commando. The bike left the Norton factory in 1972 as a 750cc MKIV Interstate, but Rick had other ideas. Having picked up a Street Scrambler tank at our Ardingly Bikejumble he decided to build his impression of a 1972 750SS. The paintwork is all Rick’s own work, but it’s a bit marmite; some folk love it, others don’t! Not sure if I even like it, but it’s a pleasure ...

Julie Diplock's 1956 model US-Spec BSA 650cc A10

Julie Diplock's 1956 model US-Spec BSA 650cc A10
A great introduction to your A10. Good vid. I’m currently running the Michelin classics on my Interceptor 650. Find them to be better than the Road Riders, I have had on another motorcycle. Here’s to many more trouble free miles.👍
Hi Rick and Julie, say hello to the red lion!😊
One thing cannot be denied about the the 50s/60s British Bikes was how ridable they were, how manageable they were. Even the 650s were light weight compared to the modern equivalents. OK, they weren't as fast as the new stuff, but they were just as much fun with all that bottom end grunt. Drop them into top gear at 40mph & enjoy the ride. And you can quite as easily get killed doing 80 mph as you can doing 120mph. Most motorcycle deaths are not caused by the rider, they are caused by car drivers, especially cars drivers coming out on motorbikes at 'T' junctions. I don't know how any woman can safely ride the modern big stuff. I walk around the showrooms, looking at the new monster bikes available & the reach required from the seat to the handlebars is enormous, plus (of course) the colossal weight of them.
Absolutely brilliant, real motorcyclists still exist...many thanks
I never understand why some people don't fit modern new tyres. Sticking with square profile Skid Masters. I'm not talking about semi race radials, just some sensible like Bridgestone BT 46, or Road riders, preferably not over 6 years old. Transforms a bikes ride for the better.
Love the way your A10 wears its history of use on the outside, great to see a used old bike rather than a show pony.. I had a '52 plunger spuing Golden Flash for a while and loved it. My current Enfield has an electric start though which is a real bonus.
Lovely bike and very sensibly presented. No wonder you've been together so long! Nice video.
Fabulous bike!
Beautifully presented and yes the BSAs are lovely machines. I owned mine for 10 trouble free years. I've subbed and look forward to enjoying more from your channel.
Great video Julie, your so nolagable.
I like A10s too .😊
Thanks for an interesting video from someone who uses their classic instead of just polishing it! My first big bike was a BSA A7 and i always regretted selling it. I recently got an 1960 A10 Gold flash, almost exactly like yours (black, as well). I am in the process of uprating the front brake too, as the standard single leading shoe brake is'nt the best.
UnFortunately those are hard to find here in Indiana...today 😢
👍🏼🏍️👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼
Delighted when both you on your A10 and Rick on his Commando turned up at my place in the highlands. Good to see the old bike still performing it’s duty! Hi to Rick.
I guess the oil filter had to be "External" because most of the oil is too . . . 😂 only joking . . . I love the A10 - always wanted one . . .
Wow I saw you on your A10 20 years ago keep riding
Some sound advice there! Great to see an A10 actually being used and with decent tyres fitted instead of period "death masters".
First kick, that's what we like to see
Thanks. To be true, there's a fair amount of Andover Spares on that machine!
What has this stupid hippie done to this bike
Pa Norton must be turning in his grave.
I certainly expect he's be quite surprised to see people still riding his machines 100 years after his death!
@@mrselk-VintageBikeBird I agree.
Lovely video, a pity the sound was almost inaudible. This is a suggestion, not a criticism.
Investing in some more mics - dDon't forget to subscribe everyone - it costs nothing!
@mrselk-VintageBikeBird I am subscribed. Perhaps a lifetime of riding nasty noisy old motorcycles has given me tinnitus. WOT? NO, I'M NOT DEAF. IT ALL STARTED WHEN I BOUGHT A C15 AND MY MOTHER HAD A SCREAMING FIT!
@@philhawley1219 Me too!
What an abortion
It's great, leave it just like that, but maybe fix the centre stand.
Much better an individual machine, that works properly & gets ridden, than a pristine standard garage queen that never sees the road.
Priceless it is. perfect colour and especially the brushed texture.
Thank you Giancarlo, there are few who appreciate the brush strokes for what they are.
Like that a lot. We need more individualistically styled bikes- there's far too many restored to factory condition bikes out there not being ridden.
The paintwork is great. I'm inspired.
You can’t have too many bikes… you are blessed among ALL bikers to have such a beautiful collection
The green dots on the tank are a nice touch. Great personalization of a lovely gift!
the moral is kids; don't do drugs, drugs are bad 'k ....and, it's true love when she buys you a motorcycle.
Great paint Rick!
Nowt wrong with the conversation it’s called chatting and they seem enthusiastic, talking about something they both love…the love of classic motorcycles
Ducati 450 desmo in the background. One of the best
My old Friend , and riding buddy Derek the Marble , owned one of these in , about , 1966 /67 , and I was privileged to ride it .
Christ let each person talk. Stop interrupting
Does that Norton have total loss oiling?
Beautiful bike! Learn something new everyday, did not know A65 is a short stroke and thought the internals is the same as a long stroke A10!
So pleased I found this channel. Brilliant 👏
Came for the machine...left because of the incessant clatter. Why do they both talk at the same time? RUDE behavior!
It's a conversation, not a commentary. Perhaps you don't interact with other people very well.
@@philhawley1219 A conversation is two or more people speaking their points and then politely remaining silent while others present theirs. Then additional comment or rebuttal is allowed under same circumstance. Two people talking full volume at high speed, trying to talk over each other is neither conversation, nor commentary. I interact with other gentle mannered people quite well, thank you. Best regards...
It's only just over 3 minutes long! 😂😂
Lovely machine and an obvious successor to the RGS, but I've never seen a genuine one in the flesh (seen a few fakes though 🙂)
I didn't know that Motown was short for Motor Town, which makes total sense now that you said it. That bike has a ton of character. I dig it. It's really cool that it was first bought and owned by a woman. I can't imagine there was a ton of women riding British bikes (or motorcycles in general) in the US back then. It would be fun to learn more about her and the history of the bike.
I had an uncle that went to the states in the fifties and worked for Ford for decades..
What a machine!
Ain't no such thing as a boring bike or "porridge bike" or "cabbage bike", IMHO. No point in trying to dig yourself out of a hole😉 As it happens, I've just finished eating some porridge, I enjoyed it and it took away my hunger, just like an old bike of any kind.
100% agree!
Definitely a Tay Valley NOC neck scarf, good to see we are being made famous, Gino from the TVNOC!
Helt fantastisk, tusen takk 🏍️👍
Glad you like it - make sure to hit the subscribe button so you get notified when new films get uploaded!
Go to Andy Tiernan's!
Nice Lemans MKI!
My kind of people! Come over to the states, and watch me race! I'll buy the drinks! Lol!
What a great UA-cam site! I'm old, so love seeing these neat bikes, as well as learning stuff. Here's an interesting fact, If you lived in Australia you'd probably be known as 'Vintage Bike Sheila'! [Their version of 'Bird']
