he studied poetry before rap. He went to art school for ballet too. But really I think its his time spent in poetry that made him into a remarkable rapper. He had this ability to match every syllable to the beat not just end each line with words that rhyme, which is what a lot of rappers do. If you want a very clear example of this I think another one of his greatest lyrical songs is "2 of amerikaz most wanted" with Snoop Doggy Dog. There's just a lot of tempo down to every syllable. That's talent.
