If you ever feel like making any instructional videos Pete, yours are the best (I appreciate technical detail and explanation), and before lockdown I was working on my rotation through the swing - going for that beautiful finish. Just saying 🙂
Fantastic video!! I've been playing a 7 wood for quite some time now (15 years)? but really with these lofts and setup, it's an old school 5 wood. I like that people are playing it with the shorter 7 wood length, however. Also, after watching the video, nice to see you hitting it the same distance I play. If I'm 240ish out, it's an automatic 7 wood. I can hit it longer with a low draw, but with a standard shot... 240.
@@claytonpetree527 Years ago my dad gave me an old Adams Tight Lies 7 wood as a joke for Christmas. The shaft was rusted and the cords were hanging from the grip everywhere. But I hit that thing just once and that was enough. I had it reshafted and gripped and it stayed in my bag the better part of a decade along with a 3 and 5 wood I bought later to match. That combo was perfect for me then. Today, I'm playing a 3 hybrid instead. I took a Cobra One length hybrid and had an inch added to the shaft. I bought it on a lark, but it feels pretty good now. But Peter has now reminded me how much I loved that old Adams 7 and the shiny things are calling again.
Peter, I agree with you on the 7 wood. My father, who passed 2007, made 4 hole in ones in his life. One with a Mizuno MP-9 bladed 5 iron and 3 with an old, knackered Mizuno 7 wood made in the late 90s. we were playing Disney World behind Gary Player and 3 Japanes men. Player actually witnessed the shot and started cheering before we did, because the green was slightly elevated. he shook my dad's hand like they had been friends forever. Iwill never forget how gracious he was to an amateur player he didn't even know. one of the best men in golf over the last 100 players.
Love stories like these! I'll never forget Chi Chi Rodriquez teeing off during a Sr. Open in Bethesda MD Congressional, picking up his tee... turning around and handing to my 13 year old. That was a generation for the ages! Priceless!
I added a 7 wood last year and its my favorite club now. Im a 2 handicapper and playing scratch comps on longer courses I found adding to the top end of the bag more useful. The 7 wood is amazing for par 5 approaches and is also a great fairway finder for short par 3s. I also had a 2 iron for a while but it was only decent off the tee. I also had the sim hybrid but I just felt it wanted to go left. I can hit the 7 wood much straighter and from any lie.
I have the 2019 Callaway Epic 7 wood in my bag. I had to ratchet it to the max 22°, was going to far! So forgiving and the ball hits the green like a butterfly with sore feet. LOVE IT!
I accidentally bought a Mizuno JPX 7 wood... it had the wrong cover on in at a traveling golf expo and i initially thought it was a 3 wood... Ive never been able to hit a 3 wood well either, im about 185 with my 4 hybrid "IF" i hit it right, which was always 50/50 or worse... I started right out of the gate spanking this club 210-220 right down the fairway around 85% of the time... Couldnt have been happier to accidentally find this club as a high 90s golfer it has literally taken 5-6 strokes off my game a round... in 5 years ive had maybe 2 eagle chances, in the past 4 months ive had 7... havent sank one of them yet... but this club has given me the hope it will happen someday...
I try anything to gain consistancy so I thrifted an old unloved Callaway S2H2 Big Bertha War Bird Heaven Wood (7-wood) and I love everything about it. I sanded all the dings and deep scratches smooth and polished it to mirror finish and it looks like a J-type 327 Nubian Starship. This club is never leaving my bag!
I've had my callaway hawkeye 7 wood in the bag for about 19 years. A club i don't think ill ever part with. Absolute beast and can be had for around £30
After watching this video the first time, I went to the local big box golf store and spent some time rifling through the used club bags. Found a Callaway Heavenwood that had seen better days but looked serviceable. Wow. What a club. Has come into play several times now for that 165-190 shot. Full swing shots, punch shots, choke down 2 inches full swing, and even out of fairway bunkers. This loft is insane. High, straight, and stops on a dime. I shot my best round of the year, an 84, and the club was used half a dozen times during the round. Even teed off on a par 5 with it! This info has really helped Pete. Thanks. Considering a full bag change now to G425.
I've been a 4w/7w kinda guy for more years than I care to remember. Dabbled with 3ws and 5ws and lower hybrids but always come back to the 4/7 combo. Using G410 at the moment. 3w turned to 16°, 7 wood standard.
i went PING G425 Driver / 5 wood / 7 wood / 26 and 34 degree hybrids ....i hit my 5 wood as far as a 3 wood pretty much so i left the 3 wood out...love the feel of these clubs...huge fan....also love my PXG SGI irons
As a senior golfer (74) I carry Driver 12*, 3 Wood 15*, Heavenwood 20.5* and 5 hybrid 23* then irons 6-SW. I replaced my 19* hybrid with the Heavenwood as the distance is about the same but I tended to hook the hybrid often.
Carried a 7 wood since high school, 25 years ago. Used to get grief as it was considered a "ladies" or "old mans" club. Still carry one, and still love it.
I went to a retailer to try the G425 7 wood. RRP was over $500 Au. I walked away with a run out deal at half that price on the TS 2. It was easy to hit and consistent length.
Peter, a lot of golfers can’t smash a 3 wood and a 4 iron. How about testing the top of a bag with a 5wood, 7wood and a 4 hybrid to see if that would gap ok and work for us slower swingers.
I’m a 10 carry driver 245 and my ping G15 is the only club that’s never come out of my bag in literally 10 years. I wish I could hit every club as consistently. It goes 210 high draw and I can’t hit much of a draw with any Xi stench with any other club. Perfect for long par 3s and 4’s and short par 5s.
Funny thing..I'm 65 was a golf professional in Phx for many years and the old wooden fairway woods were 12.5 degree driver 15.0-16 degree 3 wood 4 wood 17-19 5 wood 20-22 degrees. Loft with all the CG and gear effect in Metallic fairway and drivers is amazing. I can hit my 10 degree ping driver off the deck with my approx 100mph club speed. and when I was young approx 112 mph could barely get old steel shafted wooden driver off the deck. Enjoy the new technology guys it is well worth the investment. Was a Ping Professional for quite sometime and their fairway woods are super impressive. Great content Peter
Peter - I added the 7 Ping 425 Max last year and it is my favourite club! I just ordered the 9 wood to get rid of my 4/5 iron! Can't wait to get it! I like you always hooked hybrids but now I hit these wood long and relatively straight!
Very few folks, that are thinking of a 7wood, will be interested in or playing a driving iron. Shame you couldn’t trial the equivalent hybrid against the 7 wood because that would be more useful.
I just replaced my old Taylor Made 9 wood with a used Callaway Big Bertha 7-wood. I have not been able to get back out to the range, to calibrate this Callaway 7-wood. I really like the look of the clubhead and ball flight for the Ping G425 7-wood you tested. You've given me a few things to think about.
Not long started playing golf, and I got a set of a Cleveland DST006 driver hybrid and 3 wood. I’m good with my lofted irons but anything below a 6 iron I can’t hit. The hybrid is really helping with the longer iron problems, and the 3 wood is helping build up my confidence into hitting driver. Just taking little steps but I think fairway woods and hybrids are a great alternative to long irons.
I have been playing the Ping G3 driver and fairway metals for a few years and decided a change was necessary as my consistency was not where I wanted it with the G3's... I went with the G425 driver and of all things, I went back to the Ping K15 3, 5, and 7 fairway metals in my bag... Sometimes going back is better than going with the latest and greatest... Love them...
A month ago I put in play a Cobra Speedback 7w to replace my inconsistent 5i. At 22,5° it plays 180-190m for me to reach long par 3 greens and sometimes I use it as a rescue club. Brilliant 👌🏼
Just had my first fitting. Have got a driver & 3 wood & then 6 iron down - so have got 3 clubs left to fill the bag. Am looking forward to trying the various 5/7 woods & hybrids to see what suits me best
i went PING G425 Driver / 5 wood / 7 wood / 26 and 34 degree hybrids ....i hit my 5 wood as far as a 3 wood pretty much so i left the 3 wood out...love the feel of these clubs...huge fan....also love my PXG SGI irons
I've just bought the Ping G425 Max 7 Wood. You are correct it's an amazing club, so easy to hit and the feel from it is incredible. It launches high and lands soft, I love it, I'm thinking of also getting the 5 wood.
great review...i was just fitted a couple weeks ago for the PING G425 Driver / 5 wood / 7 wood / 26 and 34 degree hybrids...can't wait till they arrive....loved the feel and forgiveness ...i am 56 years old so my swing is not like it used to be but i was hitting these very nicely.......cheers from Canada
I am 63 years so have slower swing speed now. I have gone to 5,7,9 woods and start irons at 6 and 4 wedges, so, 13 clubs. Quite the difference in my game and has enabled me to maintain 9 handicap.
I’ve had a ratty old 7 wood in my bag since I started playing the forgiveness on long ish fairway shots into the green has meant it’s stayed after so many club culls.
I put one in my bag about two years ago and fell in love. Mine is a cobra F6 and can move the weight from front to back and with the weight in the back the ball just went to the moon an back but then I said well let’s try putting it forward and I was in love an it’s probably my favorite club in the bag now. I would suggest everyone to give it a go!!
Too cool, thanks for the video. As I sit and wait for my 425 7 wood (ordered a few weeks ago) to get through the Ping covid caused backlog, I can watch this and be even more like a kid waiting for Christmas.
i went PING G425 Driver / 5 wood / 7 wood / 26 and 34 degree hybrids ....i hit my 5 wood as far as a 3 wood pretty much so i left the 3 wood out...love the feel of these clubs...huge fan.. ordered about 3 weeks ago hopefully they are not too much longer.....also love my PXG SGI irons
I'm using a Titleist 917F2 19° set at 19.75°. I needed more distance and stopping power than my 19° hybrid provided to fill a yardage gap near the top end of my bag. The adjusted 5-wood did the trick and I'm enjoying it a lot.
TS3 16.5 @ 15.75, TM udi 2 iron and 20’ apex hybrid. Taken the 4 iron out the bag. By going down the grip I can hit both clubs 200-225 high or low which has resolved my gapping issues. New format looks good Pete 👍🏻
I'm with you Pete. I tested the Ping G425 7W against the Ping 3H. I tend to overdraw hybrids (although, much less with the Ping G410 or 425 because of the flat settings) so I decided to test a 7W for the first time in my life. I was shocked at how much I loved it. Higher ball flight. Much less curve. More spin. I bought it on the spot.
I have a ping G400 3 and 5 love them both. I tried a 4 hybred G400 and not only is not in the bag, it got traded in when I just found a used G400 7 wood at my local golf store. I have tried and love it just like the 3 and 5. One more to find the G400 9 wood.
I just got fitted for the Ping 425 Max 3 wood and 3 hybrid, Also put the #4 Crossover into the bag. I asked about the 5 and 7 woods, and the thought was, I didn't have a big enough gap between the Crossover and my 5 iron to justify adding a 7w to the bag, but after seeing this video, I think I may revisit them. Cheers!
I hit the Ping G425 7 wood in the sftec set up which is an even higher loft... 22 degrees. The club head is even larger than the G 425 max. It's like hitting a 5 wood and the ball checks up on the green so much better than a long iron.
I have 3w, 2h, 4h and 2iron but was keen to try the Ping G425 3w, 5w and 7w after christmas but lockdown put paid to that and 3 months of testing. One thing you forget though, is that for us handicap golfers, the 2 iron is superb for the low punch from under trees that high launching longer clubs just pop up.
Picked up the 425 max 3 and 5 went back for the 7. Really easy to hit off the deck. Have 410 driver so impressesed with the FW's picking up the 425 max driver today. Right now Ping has it going on.
Just got a Ping g400 max 5 wood last year and it's one of my favorite clubs for the 235ish range. Hit it a lot better then irons or hybrid and even driver sometimes. Thinking about getting 7 wood to replace 4 iron but can only find with senior shafts.
I play a G400 max driver, 410 3 wood lofted to a 4 wood and a 410 7 wood. Love this set up. I’m decently long off the tee, so 4 wood is about 245-255, 7 is around 225-235 both fairway woods distance varies slightly on “how on my game I am” but much more forgiving than a hybrid. I’ve tried every hybrid known fo mankind cause it sounds good but they are not forgiving at all. I had that U500 you shown in your video but only was able to hit it when really “On My Game.” Now I just use my 4 iron for when I wanna play that “driving iron” style of shot, aka stinger.
Your first attempt with the long iron is the main reason why I made this switch last fall. Cooler weather is a big factor too. I’ve always loved 4-5 woods and Ping has fairway woods figured out now (not so much in years past). Just don’t be so confused when you look down at setup as compared to other manufacturers. The face angle and whatnot. The club really does the work, just trust it, in the flat setting possibly. And make sure you know which shaft works for you or you’ll be wasting your time.
Im hot and cold with driver distance but was never super comfortable with a 3 wood off the deck, picked myself up a 5 and just the confidence I gained with it was awesome
Haven't played a higher lofted fairway wood since my Slazenger Ballesteros 5w... Always been a long iron hitter like Mizuno TP-11 or Ping Zing2 1 & 2 irons but now I'm more leaning into hybrids and I'm trying out a Callaway Super hybrid which is the closest to a 5w that I am at the moment.
I just purchased a 2 hybrid which I hit about 250. I hit my 4 iron about 225 so there is a bit of a gap between clubs, but from that far out it’s not a question of spin really. It’s a question of just getting there more often than not so descent angle is less of an issue. I’ll take the lower launch angle and extra distance from roll outs.
Currently use a 21 degree hybrid but only because it is slightly better out of the rough than a 7 wood (I did try both about a year ago before the 1st lockdown.) Keep up the good work Pete
Currently game the G410 5wood - love it 💪💪💪 Pete - if you're struggling with a hybrid hook, try the the Ping hybrid and change the loft to the flat setting - it was a game changer for me 👌👌👌🚀🚀🚀
I recently bought a second hand Titleist 917 F2 18.5 degree 5 wood to swap out for my 818H hybrid in the same loft, for exact reason you mention about being prone to pulling the hybrid left. I'm yet to try it out due to lockdown but looking forward to trying it as soon a the courses open up again. Fingers crossed I feel the benefits of it.
I have a Ping G20 7 wood in my bag and has been for past 6 yrs. love it, its my go to 190-200 club, I have a 3 hybrid 18 degree for 200-210. wont take that 7 wood out of my bag for anything, l have tried 4 hybrids dont like them, The Ping 7 wood is the best l have hit..
My Bag and what I play them for: Lob Wedges 65° - 65 yards or less 60° - 65-95 yards Ping G425 irons UW - 95-120 yards PW - 120-135 yards 9i - 135-150 yard 8i - 150- 165 yards 7i - 165-180 6i - 180-200 5i - 200-220 Ping 19° Hybrid -1° setting - 220-260 Driver - Driving only ~295 I obviously have a huge range I need to fill with my hybrid, but I rarely feel uncomfortable with that. I much prefer the extra high loft clubs personally. My only sometimes struggle is hitting that hybrid 260, I have to really crank it and sometimes I am just shy. My short game is my biggest weakness but adding the 65° (odd I know) has taken me from 2-4 chips a hole to 1. I also have a much harder time controlling irons than my longer clubs, so I try to keep it to 15-20 yards between.
Every 20 or so years the 7 wood makes a comeback. Early 2000s they were popular for a bit. I also remember a golf digest story from the 70s hyping Dudley Waxo Green and a 7 wood
17 degree hybrid for me. Useful in so many situations. 4 iron above and 3 wood below. I have a 3 iron but that sucker is for show, wouldn't trust it with anything but a bump out of the woods
Great video Peter. I have the Ping G425 7 Wood in the bag. I love it. Its become the favorite club in my bag. I also have the 5 Wood in the same version as well. This latest run of Ping G 425 Woods are terrific. I also enjoy several of the Ping G 425 hybrids as well. I think its the best series of clubs Ping has ever made. Thanks Peter.
I do carry a 7 wood (GBB Hawkeye), as well as my 3 and 5 woods (same make, model). I believe the woods are easier to hit than long irons, and it is easier to hold the greens due to the angle of descent. They are also easier to hit out of the rough (where I often am). There are even times I will chip with my 7 wood from just off the green, if the rough is particularly high.
Been looking into a 7 wood lately. I have had hybrids previously and could get some good shots out of them. Now i just have up to a 4 iron and the long game has suffered. Probably need to ditch the 3 wood and get something in the 20-22* loft
I bought a set of used irons and the seller included a Taylormade Burner 7-wood. Now it's my most consistent club off the tee - I know I'm going to find a fairway with it which is huge for a new player like me. If I strike it well and close down the face a little, I only lose maybe 20 yards off my driver with much lower risk of slicing!
I've been playing a Ping G410 7wood for a couple of years now because I can't hit a fairway wood. I have a Taylor Made M6 driver set at about 9.25 then the Ping G410 SFT set at the standard 22. Love the combination
Great advice. Many long hitters have used 7wds- Bubba and robert garrigus for years and Dustin Johnson has carried one at least for a year and carries it 255.
I have A hybrid G410 set to H4 so max loft. I love it. I smash it off any lie, it cuts through rough like a hot knife through butter. I have never carried one until last season now its my go to. What you are saying Peter makes perfect sense. get that 7 wood in your bag you wont regret it...
use the ping g410 7 wood , had it in the bag for a year now , total game change for me took out 4 hybrid for it lovely high launch , more people should use one and now tour pro's are putting them in the bag think they will , had some funny looks when i first got it ,( old mans club !!!) but they soon stopped when i was coming in the money in the club comps , got it for a cracking price because no one wanted them , think i could get back my money , as the second hand prices of golf gear as gone through roof , really good vid pete shows people should swallow their ego's and play what is best for there game and not what there friends would think ( mine love me in team comps !!!!)
Peter, the oldest club in my bag is a Callaway Original Steelhead 7W (20*), and it's like a security blanket for me on very long par 3s as well as long par 4s or par 5s.
My bag goes driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 4 hybrid. I used to use a cheap Dunlop 7 wood that I was very fond of. I just over swing it now since it’s a regular flex. I have to hold back too much to be consistent with it anymore.
I’ve been playing golf seriously for about 5 years and never had a fairway wood until last year. After my driver, I usually used a Ping 30 4 hybrid that gets me to 175 yds. In the last year, I’ve gotten a Ping 410 7 wood, which gets me to 180, and a Ping 410 5 wood to 200. Then, a few weeks ago, I ditched my driver, a Ping K15 for a Ping 410 3 wood. I’m ok with 220 yds straight than 240 in the water. I seem to make better contact when the ball is not teed so high.
I play two ancient Titleist 907 D2 fairways with 13.5 and 18.5 degrees. When it's windy, I leave the higher lofted wood out and replace it with a 3 iron.
The 7 wood club! I use a Callaway Big Bertha 7 wood. I know it is "ancient" but it works wonders! My distances are pretty close yours ;) but I am looking to update my 7 wood so this video was beneficial!
The best club in my bag is a handmade 7 wood I built - with a driver shaft in it. I hit it 205 - and it goes so high - the ball seems likes it pops a parachute and lands ever so softly on the green. It just falls out of the sky. It's nice to have that yardage be a gimme in your bag.
I grabbed the 9 wood version it’s everything you love about the 7 + higher ball flight.... and slightly shorter. If you are in a 3 club + putter event it’s my long club
I will go as far as saying buying a 7 wood (and kicking out a hybrid) changed my game, well, at least saved me some strokes. Cause of the longer shaft and the ability to change the ball flight I can hit this club from 190 to 235 depending on wind or if I grip down. And last season I made my first ace on a long par 3 using it. Great for finding fairways on shorter par 4s as well, love it. I have the M4 fairway (5HL).
used to run a 3/7 wood combo. switched the 7 wood (and 4i) out for a 20 degree and 23 degree hybrid combo. I prefer the workability of hybrids, BUT the 7 wood has always been my easiest to hit club from almost anywhere. I just prefer the hybrids for the workability and tougher lies. I'm sure I'll fall back into a 7 wood again.
I played a 7 wood back in the 90’s, a Big Bertha titanium! But I went with hybrids a currently use an 818H1 set at 18 deg! I still have the Big Bertha and other than needing a new grip it is still playable! In fact the new grip is lying waiting!
Hi Pete, My dad used to have a 7 and 11 wood in the bag I bullyed him that much saying they were ladies clubs and he's a chopper for using them there in the garage. Watching this video has made me feel bad and I will tell him there not just for gals. 🙈 Still hit 2 iron 238 carry fav club in the bag
Hey everyone, thank you SO MUCH FOR WATCHING! If you like the video drop it a 👍

Great story man
Wow! Gary Player was and still is a great ambassador for golf.
I absolutely love my 7 wood. It’s my trusty club that I can go back to when the swing isn’t great

Yep, last year I swapped out my 19* hybrid with a 21* 7 wood. I’m using it more often with better results with my slower than average swing speed.
The Ping woods and hybrids have been fantastic. My Ping G410 3 hybrid is one of my favorite clubs I’ve ever owned.
I try anything to gain consistancy so I thrifted an old unloved Callaway S2H2 Big Bertha War Bird Heaven Wood (7-wood) and I love everything about it. Got a 2016 m2 7 wood, comes in like a PW and goes like a rocket love them.
Still a great club!
I've had my callaway hawkeye 7 wood in the bag for about 19 years. A club i don't think ill ever part with. Absolute beast and can be had for around £30
Been testing stuff to take over for my V Steel 5 wood, can't get that thing out of my bag, it's incredible. Old gear is awesome sometimes
I got one for 4 dollars at goodwill
Been playing a 7wood for Decades now. They used to be called "ginty" woods. Always have one in my bag.
After watching this video the first time, I went to the local big box golf store and spent some time rifling through the used club bags. Been carrying a Callaway Heavenwood for over 10 years. Old man golf ftw.
Switched from a 19 degree hybrid to a TS2 7 wood. Hands down my favorite club in the bag
I did the same thing 2 years ago same TS2 - its a great club.
I have in the bag 5 wood, 7 wood, 4 hybrid and then 5 iron works good for me...
I am a slower swing player too. I carry a 4wood ( 17.5) a 7 Wood ( 21) then hybrids ( F9 one length 19, F7-25, TS2 29) then 7 iron (33)
The Ping 5, 7 and 9 wood are in my bag. They are really easy to swing and I have recommended them to my clients. Nice review Peter.
I've used ping 7w and 9w for several years, and I change every year to the new model. Helps a lot
You are absolutely right about the 7 wood, I got me one a few months ago, took my hybrid out.
I have the Ping G425 Max 5 wood. Love it. Very easy to hit.
I have been using a 7 wood for the past 5 yrs. love it!!
I bag a heavenwood, scored my first hole in one a couple of weeks ago on a 199 metre par 3 at my local club.
Been playing my old Callaway Big Bertha Heavenwood for a long time. Love it!!!!!!! I have the 1, 3, and 7 in my bag.
I have a ping G400 3 and 5 love them both. I tried a 4 hybred G400 and not only is not in the bag, it got traded in when I just found a used G400 7 wood at my local golf store. I have tried and love it just like the 3 and 5. One more to find the G400 9 wood.
My 7 wood has been the best club in my bag for a few years now. Glad the PGA guys finally noticed. :)
My G410 7 wood arrived last week. In the bag for the 2021 season! Goes with the 5w @ 16.5* which plays more like a 3w.
I have a 2017 Taylormade M2 21 degree HL 5wood and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!! It has been in the bag the longest
Peter, I use a 7 wood and a 5 wood both Ping G400, it does not go that far at the moment I am working on that. I also used one in K15's as well
Currently use a 21 degree hybrid but only because it is slightly better out of the rough than a 7 wood (I did try both about a year ago before the 1st lockdown.)
Keep up the good work Pete
Currently game the G410 5wood - love it 💪💪💪
Pete - if you're struggling with a hybrid hook, try the the Ping hybrid and change the loft to the flat setting - it was a game changer for me 👌👌👌🚀🚀🚀
Have been using a Callaway 3 wood but lofted up to 16 degrees for quite a few years and have just bought a 20 degree heavenwood to add to the bag.
I'm using my dad's old 20 years old 7-wood and it's definitely a wonderful forgiving wood. It's my fav club
My Bag and what I play them for:
Lob Wedges
65° - 65 yards or less
60° - 65-95 yards
Ping G425 irons
UW - 95-120 yards
PW - 120-135 yards
9i - 135-150 yard
8i - 150- 165 yards
7i - 165-180
6i - 180-200
5i - 200-220
Ping 19° Hybrid -1° setting - 220-260
Driver - Driving only ~295
I obviously have a huge range I need to fill with my hybrid, but I rarely feel uncomfortable with that.
Callaway steelhead original 7 wood 20 degrees goes for miles 230 yards love it had it for 20 years plus top club⛳
17 degree hybrid for me. Useful in so many situations. 4 iron above and 3 wood below. I have a 3 iron but that sucker is for show, wouldn't trust it with anything but a bump out of the woods
Have had a 7 wood in my bag for years now. Tour edge 7 wood. Between my strong 4 wood and 4 hybrid.
Just purchased a 7 wood, 21 degrees. Best club I ve had for 20 years now.
I still have and use my Ping eye 2 - 7 wood about 40 years old and still love it
Just ordered a ping g410 7wood. Love my g400 4 wood. Great clubs. So easy launch and stop
I was just fitted for this exact club and the hybrid 4 in the same range - they are truly amazing!!! Great review
Tested one of these at Tony Valentine today. INCREDIBLE. Ended up going for a g425 4 hybrid instead, but the next club will be one of these.
use the ping g410 7 wood , had it in the bag for a year now , total game change for me took out 4 hybrid for it lovely high launch , more people should use one and now tour pro's are putting them in the bag think they will , had some funny looks when i first got it ,( old mans club !!!) but they soon stopped when i was coming in the money in the club comps , got it for a cracking price because no one wanted them , think i could get back my money , as the second hand prices of golf gear as gone through roof , really good vid pete shows people should swallow their ego's and play what is best for there game and not what there friends would think ( mine love me in team comps !!!!)
Hi Peter, I use a Ping G30 hybrid, a Ping G20 7 wood and a TM Draw 9 wood - These cover off my 3,4 an 5 irons perfectly.
Picked up a g425 max 7w on Feb 1st. Its the easiest fw wood I've hit!
Thing is a par-5 killer!!
Thinking of the 7 and 5 in this Ping 425 but adjusting the loft on the 5 to make it a 16.5 and not bother with a 3 wood. Cant wait to test them out
Peter, the oldest club in my bag is a Callaway Original Steelhead 7W (20*), and it's like a security blanket for me on very long par 3s as well as long par 4s or par 5s.
I carry and use both a TM M6 7 & 9 wood and 6 - SW irons, my 7 wood is my go to club when I'm not swinging great
My bag goes driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 4 hybrid. I used to use a cheap Dunlop 7 wood that I was very fond of. I just over swing it now since it’s a regular flex. I have to hold back too much to be consistent with it anymore.
I’ve been playing golf seriously for about 5 years and never had a fairway wood until last year. After my driver, I usually used a Ping 30 4 hybrid that gets me to
175 yds. In the last year, I’ve gotten a Ping 410 7 wood, which gets me to 180, and a Ping 410 5 wood to 200. Then, a few weeks ago, I ditched my driver, a Ping K15 for a Ping 410
3 wood. I’m ok with 220 yds straight than 240 in the water. I seem to make better contact when the ball is not teed so high.
You hit your 7 wood near where I hit my driver. That's it I'm taking lessons.
Same here!
I'm with you..hybrids ALWAYS going left. I gave up after many attempts with hybrids.
Hi Pete,
My dad used to have a 7 and 11 wood in the bag I bullyed him that much saying they were ladies clubs and he's a chopper for using them there in the garage. Watching this video has made me feel bad and I will tell him there not just for gals. 🙈 Still hit 2 iron 238 carry fav club in the bag
