Absolutely heartbreaking. 🌹💔🌹💔🌹 My grandpa was born in 1910. At 17 years old he was driving his father to work one early morning before dawn. He thought he could get over the train tracks before the train got there. He was very wrong. 😔 He got thrown from the vehicle, and sustained a head injury. His father died instantly. From that moment my grandpa (after spending 12 months in the hospital) became the head of the family, responsible for his mother and raising his much younger siblings. 💔 He married my grandma at 22 and they raised 6 children, & they were married for 74 years!
Wow that’s so tragic but I’m glad that things worked out for him as well as they did. Most people wouldn’t have been able to deal with it. What a strong family you have. 🙏🙏
Thank you for telling of this tragedy. I was married to their sister Lena Zornick for about 30 years. We lived in Austin Texas and so did their father Joseph. Lena pasted in 2016 after a long fight with leukemia and now is with her sisters.
Well, he did save one! And thank goodness, he caught her, because who knows, she might not have known how to swim. We don’t know. I’m so glad he was there, at just that moment! At least one of them shook herself loose from the spell of the train coming down the track. She might have been old enough to realize the danger.
Hi Ron,as a retired train driver I know only too well the horror of a railroad fatality ,nothing you can do except apply the brakes and blow the horn. May the little ones be together resting in heaven, very sad but thank you for presenting it as it highlights the dangers of playing on or near rail tracks. Take care stay safe from ballarat in Oz,😢😢🙏🙏🇦🇺
Thank you for the confirmation as an experienced train driver. I always wondered why I train cannot stop, even to avoid an accident, but never consulted Google. I will now.🥲🙏🏾
These stories after awhile have to wear on you Ron. I know they do me. The tragedies and injustices. My prayers for you and those who have chosen this path. 🙏
I just subscribed today and I'm trying to walk away but I cannot! I'm still sitting here watching them from most recent backwards. My head aches from crying 😢 but I can't stop! Ron, you're an amazing story teller. I've never been so addicted to a UA-cam channel. 👏👏👏 Kudos!
My mom always said we should not judge the actions of the parents back then, when everything seemed safe and unharming. Children were always seeking for adventures. And most of the time, they never knew how to measure risks and danger. Poor children. Quite a respectful tribute, Ron. Could not expect less of you, such an unique guy. G’d bless you.
This is so sad. I remember playing on the railroad tracks when I was a kid. We used to lay pennies and other coins on the track when we heard the train coming and go back get them after the train left. It was just on dry land where we could run up to it and run back away from it. I think all kids are intrigued by the trains at some point in their lives. I hope these little girls are resting in peace.🕊👼👼👼🕊 Stay safe out there Ron.🙂💟
I remember flattening pennies on the tracks when I was a young teen, I thought it was the coolest thing seeing the interesting shapes they turned into. The engineers would be blasting the horn and flinging his arm out the window waving us away from the tracks. Looking back it was a foolish dangerous endeavor.
So beautiful how you can tell the tragic story of their deaths and still honor their life and memories! Thank you for reminding us that these people did exist! may they rest in peace!
As others have said, I hope that those little girls are with the saints and the angels. Once again, good job, Ron. Like most historians, you speak for those who can no longer speak for themselves.
Thank you Ron for sharing this heart aching story and for remembering these 3 girls lost so tragically. The deaths of young children are such which make me, a man closing on 50 years, to feel speechless. When I studied I used to work in congregations and churches, there were often funeral services held. What was difficult for me personally was to see those little coffins, even though you had to be professional, you were aware that the tears were waiting around the corner for their opportunity to appear and to pour down your face. It just felt somehow so unnecessary and unfair. Rest in peace, little ones. 💔💖
Oh my heart ❤ it goes out to the moms and families. It's not easy to be without your children especially so young. Sometimes I get nervous because what if one day I hear my children's story on here but I wouldn't want that story to be covered by anyone else. Not that I'm looking but I love how you show compassion, respect and bright light to their names again.
I live in SW Pa. Kids today will walk on the tracks with ear buds or noise cancelling head phones These are smart kids 16, 17 years old. I don't understand. Yes kids have died.
Such a heartbreaking story and horrible ending to these little girls! Not many people encounter a train and live to tell about it. I know a man who was playing on the tracks when he was a boy and lost his legs. Train tracks are so very dangerous. Thanks for sharing their story so that they can be remembered again!
We had a railroad about 3blks from us 1967 or so when I was about 7 or 8yrs old in Bham, Alabama. I had 2 good girlfriends and we 3 girls loved to go there and wave at the people and had the whistle blow. Our mom's would whip our butts. I never knew the dangers we were putting ourselves in until I got older. My mom was a good woman and left biscuits in a sack for the "hobo's"on our fence. We didn't stick around to watch them though because my mom told us they'd come back and eat our supper. LOL, believe me in those times it was scarce. We weren't poor but hardly a nickle to rub together. This story is a sad one to me. I enjoyed it, thanks. 3 girls could have been us.
Sad to see the grass taking over some grave stones. Thanks for researching and telling the story of these girls and all of the other stories you've shared in other videos
I remember when I was a child and the Train came in rocked the whole town. It is now called the rail trail where you can walk or ride your bike. I still remember the smell of the train. This was in the 60's.
Oh my. My heart aches for these little angels and their parents. One can only imagine their last moments of terror as the train bore down on them. I find it particularly poignant, Ron, visiting the sister’s graves as rain falls. I also find it interesting that the boys turned around, but the little girls ventured forth to the trestle, toward danger. Do we know anything about the little girl who survived? I would think this incident might haunt her via survivor’s guilt. The train engineers as well. A tragedy for all involved. R.I.P. Alexis, Diane and Marlene. Sweet Little Girls. 🙏
Thank you Ron - such a tragic story of 3 little girls.. it breaks a parent's heart. A cemetery is all the more mournful when it rains .... Rest in Peace, Alexis, Dianne, and Marlene - You are not forgotten. XX
Such a sad tragedy. No one could have guessed that fun adventurous time would turn out so tragic. The pain and grief the mothers and families endured the rest of their lives is heartbreaking. This is a hard lesson but necessary one for parents to teach their kids trains and train tracks are no place to ever play. Everyone please take the opportunity to tell your kids this. 💔💔💔
Such a sad story. There are many memories we all have from growing up, when curiosity leads you to take chances, but something pulled you back to safety. I'm so glad that you told the girls' story Ron, I wish they were still with us though. Rest in peace.🙏
Never trust the tracks. When I was a young parent I took a picture of my children on a train track I believed to be abandoned. Thank goodness nothing happened but a train went by right after we were done. My heart sank. How could I be so stupid. I deleated the picture because it is a scary reminder. So sad, I once live 1 block away from train track, when my son was about 8 years old. I didn't get freaked out, until he started bringing pennies and nickels home that I've been ran over by a train. Realizing that he was really messing around the train tracks, I felt really, really weirded out about it, it needed to stop, so I moved us to the country. His 2 little friends, that lived in the town by us, they were always messing around the train tracks. Well one day, one of them was on their bicycle and it stopped to put some pennies and nickels on the tracks and got their foot stuck between the rail and the block that holds the rail up and got hit by train, he was only 13 years old! The other little boy grew up to be 18 years old, out driving and stopped on the same train tracks to wave at another friend and didn't see the train coming. He never looked, his friend said! So, I am thankful my son and I left that town. He's going to be 37 year's old this coming August.

You know it’s hard to imagine what the parents of those children must have gone through. And also, putting yourself in that train conductor/engineer’s seat…knowing there’s no way to get the train stopped in time…bracing for the impact & probably closing their eyes or turning away. 🥺 Sending a special prayer for the ones behind those blaring horns. 🙏 RIP 🕊Girls
My cousins were fishing with my great uncle (their grandpa) on what they thought was an abandoned tresle. My great uncle said he hadn't seen a train come through there in years. Well that day one did. The boys ran the younger one jumped amd landed on the creek bank, the older one Glenn was too afraid and was hit and died that day. Shannon was hurt pretty bad, but recovered. We were all 10, 11, 12 some where in that age group. I was terrified of trains for a very long time. RIP to all these little angels

WOW! I was born in 1966, such a sad story.
Wow, very sad and tragic story, thanks for sharing!!!! I hope Alexis, Diane and Marlene are resting in peace 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💔
Thank you for keeping your memories alive. Rest in peace, little children.
How sad this is. I was slightly shaken when I saw the year Diane was born. I too was born in 1953, and of course, my name is Diane. RIP girls.
So so sad. R.I.P. beautiful darlings.
That is so sad!! You never get over losing a child!!
In the 50's we lived in a small town in Canada and us kids would walk the train tracks to school and back
You know it’s hard to imagine what the parents of those children must have gone through. And also, putting yourself in that train conductor/engineer’s seat…knowing there’s no way to get the train stopped in time…bracing for the impact & probably closing their eyes or turning away. 🥺 Sending a special prayer for the ones behind those blaring horns. 🙏
RIP 🕊Girls
Thankgod one was saved, it would be interesting to hear about her experience that day, thanks for sharing.

Your films capture so many stories eventually lost to time forever. Thank you for giving everyone - young and old, rich or poor - the eulogy of remembrance.
Thank you, this makes me thankful that i've made it to the age of 64 while these Angels were taken so young.
Heartbreaking: such young lives lost. Tragic also for the girl who jumped & the boy who warned them & caught her. RIP children.
