- Foghorn Stringband, A Few Old Memories (by Hazel Dickens), features Nadine Landry and Stephen Sammy Lind, taking the lead on fiddle, bass and vocals. performed live at Deep End Sessions, September 17, 2017. This was part of a very high energy concert in front of a packed audience in the living room of a California farmhouse. Nadine Landry, bass & lead vocals; Stephen "Sammy" Lind, fiddle & harmony vocals; Caleb Klauder, mandolin; and Reeb Willms, guitar. One of the finest American Old-time stringbands performing today. All acoustic house concerts and house dances like this are one of the ways old-time stringband music was originally experienced. It still is so today at Deep End Sessions. There’s something about this band that’s captivatin … like a masterpiece painting.. I’ve been a painter now for almost 50 years .. and I feel .. The Foghorn String Band makes great musical paintings.. one just can’t look away …

Love Foghorn Stringband... they are all meant to be making music together. Ordinarily listening to / watching Sammy and Nadine with their talent and enthusiasm causes me to tap my foot, clap along and whoop and holler. Was totally unprepared for my emotional response to this touching song... am fighting back sobs. Thank you for sharing your amazing musical gifts, Sammy and Nadine, Caleb and Reeb. You are such a blessing.

Class --- pure and simple.
English or French Nadine is superb. The mystery is how a Francophone girl growing up in Eastern Quebec could gravitate to songs by Carter Stanley, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton and of course Hazel Dickens. These are esoteric tastes for English speaking Canadians these days but unique for a native Quebecois.
We are most fortunate she did, and performances she does with husband Sammy (on guitar) or the FH band are always wonderful.
Nadine experiences the song; she does not EXECUTE it.
