UCLA police chief accused of ‘security lapses’ before attack on pro-Palestinian encampment

- The chief of the University of California, Los Angeles Police Department is facing criticism for a “string of serious security lapses” before the pro-Palestinian encampment on the school’s campus was attacked by a mob last Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Times reported.
According to the Times, campus leadership had directed UCLA Police Department Chief John Thomas to provide a safety plan for the campus community days before the attack, but he did not do so.

When you watched the live streaming there is nothing else left to believe that this was intentiional to show the camps as violent and then go on from there - I watched it from when the mob attacked the camp and no police or medics arrived at the scene for over more than an hour or so after people called for help after students got injured by the pro-Israel „mob“

2. There are no damages to property (including grass) for the protests.
3. Faces are not covered up.

You know the police are ordered to stand down right? Same as BLM riots. I know because I was an officer that retired over those orders. The City Manage and city attorney make the decision to activate police response. In the case of a college it would be the president or chancellor.

We have seen numerous video footage of fireworks being thrown at pro-Palestine protesters, bats and sticks being used as weapons, people being kicked, grabbed and stomped on the ground, people being sprayed and you are saying that you have done all you could do? The video footage shows a number of people committing crimes from aggregated mayhem to assault and battery with no police presence whatsoever. I sort of hate to use this as an example, but back in the early 90s during the unrest in LA, how long did it take the cops to track down and arrest the "LA four" despite not having the technology we have today? If the perpetrators are African American, that seems to prioritise police action.

The university is responsible for allowing over night camping at the university. This should never of been allowed. You folks need to stop blaming police for all the problems in your life.
