In this video we show you how you cut your Fort Belvedere belt to size so it fits you perfectly:
    You need:
    1. Measuring tape
    2. Sharp scissors or sharp knife and cutting board
Fort Belvedere belt system combines the highest quality men's leather belts with interchangeable solid brass buckles, custom fit to your size so you have a near-infinite range of belt options. Every buckle is hand made in Italy of solid brass and then heavily gold or palladium plated so it can be worn for years with any belt of your choosing. The belts are handmade in Portugal from German and Italian leathers. All belts are lined in Fort Belvedere green contrast Saffiano leather.
At Fort Belvedere, belts are 120cm - 47 inches long and it can be cut to size so it fits you perfectly. Ideally, you want to cut it so you can close it in the middle hole. If you gain a bit of weight, or lose some you can still use the belt as is. If you lose a lot of weight, you can simply shorten the belt. If you gain a lot of weight, you can keep all the buckles and just get a few new belts and you are good to go again.
A Fort Belvedere belt will give you a better fit for your body and it will be less expensive to make changes to your system in case you gain weight. Losing weight is not a problem at all.
Overall, you will be able to mix and match every buckle with every belt, now and in the future with the Fort Belvedere belt system. So as we are adding more leather belts and buckles, you will have a staggering number of options even if you invest in just a handful of buckles and belts. All belts come in one length, and you can cut them down to your liking. They look super neat and just like a regular high-end belt with folded edges.

    Wow, that was really useful.
I have a belt and it is a bit too long, but I was a little bit unconfortable to just cut it... Good to know that you are sometimes supposed to do it.
    Thanks for this video.

Fantastic modular system! Once I save up the money I'd definitely like to invest in one of these to replace my old broken belt.

To those who may be thinking cutting your own belt length is a hassle, I have seen different belt models at the same company be 3-4 inches different at the same size - then you have to send it back which is more of a hassle and a delay. These belts look very high quality like other Fort Belvedere products, a bit more than I want to pay for a belt but if you are like me and in middle of losing some weight could save some money in the long run as I can just keep cutting off additional inches as needed. I was thinking about ordering some of the nice ties too but with the current status of things in the US I probably won't have anywhere to wear them for another year or more.

Sadly this still holds true. I’m just going to start wearing my suits and dress clothes everyday again anyway.

I was just worried that once you cut it, will it affect the stitching? Or the lever will keep it from loosening?

won't cutting the belt leave it with some "loose ends" or a spot for things to come loose? I'd feel more comfortable buying if they had sizes to them.

    Hello Gentleman's Gazette,
First, been watching this channel and reading your articles for a couple years now -- Thank You for this public service!
Question: While the interchangeable belt design and quality seems robust overall, I wonder if the buckle to belt fastening system will get too loose over time? Said another way, will the indentations made in the leather from the fastening teeth become so worn that the buckle will no longer attach to the belt?

Are there other brands that do the folded and sewn edge rather than painted?

Is the peeling at 0:56 something I should be concerned about? How long can you consecutively wear a belt before this happens?

We had some prototype buckles that were a bit rougher. It is an open pore aniline leather though and will develop a patina with scuffs and everything. It is hard to tell how long it will take but it is designed to age in that way. It will also absorb the oils from your hands and skin and look better with age.

Yet more practical proof that the imperial system is more intuitive then the metric system. U find these little conveniences everywhere when u use inches and feet. Its always some odd number of centimeters or millimeters... simply subtract one inch from ur measurement and make ur cut!

I just cut my leather belt on the opposite end of the buckle side. And now it looks very ugly. How can I stich it?
