    Dangerous way to use a grinder is without its guard. He's face is exposed to it

    Didn't work on my Sentry. Just ended up with a whole bunch of plaster material and it wouldn't separate. Ended up using my grinder to cut the door hinges and just pried the door open with a prybar. Took two minutes. Thanks though for showing how it's possible.

    Nice! Cut open a safe on just one battery of the cordless grinder! Is it 16Ta or 18Ga metal?

      No clue. It was a fire safe so whatever those are made out of? I don't remember the brand sorry

      Yes, I see that it’s a fire rated safe.. :) I spoke to several guys at different safe stores. TL-15 and TL-30 rated safes are not much better! That 15 or 30 mins rating is about the door only! However, of its TL-30 x 6…. That one has a 30 mins for the door and all 6 walls. However, these safes are way above 1,000-1,200 lb.
      So, long story short…. You have to hide that inexpensive safe and it’s the best strategy because the time they are going to spend looking for that safe is the most important safety thing.

      Just rolls of quarters. We had to get it cut open because the battery died and in this stupid brand of safe if the battery dies then it can't be opened.

      @Superninjaducky I mean, if it was a dial lock, I'd just cut out the entire locking mechanism, 6 in X 6 in square, in the front, and nothing stops you from unlocking the safe.
      If it's an electronic safe, that's even more easy. A magnet is all you need... really though I never take a grinder to a safe, 1/2 inch hole is all you need.

      @superninjaducky  Рік тому

      @@doubleb222able from what I remember, the batteries had died and didn't get replaced in time so after calling the safe people my parents were told it was impossible to open in the normal way, trash safe if you ask me, so they got that guy to come open it and I don't remember him trying to do anything else to bypass, he just cut it open. It was a fire safe to the metal was thinner than a regular safe so maybe that had something to do with it

      @Superninjaducky I'm a locksmith, an actual locksmith. Meaning I always try to open none destructive if possible. I'm not saying I never have to drill or cut, but if I do, I try do it with whether utilizes minimal effort.... also, electronic safe, a strong magnetic in the top right corner area and it would have been able to have been unlocked.

    Any one get back to me would
    This cut through a gun safe

    • @alexmarlow2508
      @alexmarlow2508 3 роки тому +2

      yes, easily. Angle grinders will cut through gun safes like hot knife through butter, gun safes uses thin sheet metal. Most gun safes are made with 14 gauge steel, some more expansive ones uses 10 gauge or 7 gauge, but even those will barely slow down a angle grinder. Any gun safe under $5000 won't stand a chance against power tools like angle grinders or carbide saws or drills. To cause a slight delay against those tools you need a safe that has at least a 1/4 inch steel body and additional steel liners, such as Amsec BFII series or Fort Knox Executive or Protector series, those safes have a combined steel thickness of between 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch in the body, they are in the $5000+ range for a small/medium sized models. Those should give you at least 30 min against an average attacker with power tools such as the one used in the video before he can open up a large enough hole on the side to comfortably extract contents from the safe.

    • @alexmarlow2508
      @alexmarlow2508 3 роки тому +1

      If power tools are a real concern to you (like the angle grinder thats used in this video), you need a high security safe that has at least a TL-15 rating, a TL-30 or TL-30X6 would be preferable. Those safes have steel liners and high strength high density concrete fillings as their defensive barriers and it equals to at least an inch of steel in the body, with a much stronger door. Those safes are designed to offer decent protection against power tools, whereas gun safes are designed to stop smash and grabs. Most gun safes (the ones under $2000) can simply be pried open, or have their body opened up by a fire axe or screw driver. To stop hand tools like hammers chisels picks axes screwdrivers etc you need a safe thats made with 11 gauge to 10 gauge steel on the body at minimum, those start at around $2000 range.

      Seth Cragan I guess I really should have and I'm sorry that I didn't. The video was meant to just show how the locksmith cut it open. Inside was just a ton of quarters and a few other things like documents. There wasn't a mystery to what was inside the safe's battery died so the combination reset and we called the manufacturer and they said there was no way for us to open it. So the video was purely just it getting cut open. Sorry
