She came to NY for a change, lucky me , we lived together for numerous years ,but sadly we went our separate ways, ive never meet a person more proud of her heritage then she was, and what I've learned was , pretty much all PR feel that way, but if it wasn't for meeting her I would of never found such a beautiful place, I spend most of my winter in Rincon, only because she was a 🏄♀️, I believe I could live there full time but haven't pulled the trigger yet, no matter were I go in the world I always end up back on Long Island NY, idk very strange magnetic pull coming from NY, lol, anyway, love your life, your effortless way of making me love every destination you visit, I'm pretty sure I've told myself I will be definitely going to whatever destination you've filmed , HaHa, Great job bringing differnt location around the world into my bucket list.Enjoy, Be safe!
Well Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands are part of North America. And a commonwealth of the US for over 100 years. Great melting pot of cultures influenced by native Taino, Europe and Africa.
Puerto Ricans are so friendly and will totally invite you to their home, their party. I did a semester in college there, and it will always have a special place im my heart. And the food! 😋
"Far safer" than the upper US..SJ is the big city but start heading away from it? Thats where respect and culture really start taking place.God Bless PR !

Your filming always has these sweet moments, like when you asked the PR family that live in the continental US how they identify, and she sighs then feels so comfortable giving you a very real answer filled with pride and ambivalence with biculturalism, geopolitics, identity and belonging. Hope you all come to Panamá.

VV here! And 100% Boricua- what do you mean you get automatic citizenship? You are born as an American citizen in PR because it is a territory of the US. Secondly, there is no such thing as an extended dual citizenship with Spain. I don’t even know what that means. As a PR you can obtain legal residency in Spain for two years, secure what is termed an apostilled birth certificate and do series of paperwork and tests to apply for Spanish citizenship. Spain will usually grant citizenship to ANYONE who applies who can prove Spanish Ancestral Lineage-parent or grandparent.
Praying you do! We just got back from Patillas and it's a glorious place to spend time there with family and friends. I'm thankful to return to see family after 50 years.

Went to Puerto Rico 2017 for an infosec conference. Afterwards Despacito and storms Irma and Maria occurred. Cool place with recent strife that is hopefully better.
Great review of our modern music and culture, but to go back to the 1800s you must visit Ponce, Mayaguez, Yauco, Coamo and Guayama with its French and Corsican influences
Like many have said, the video was well made and you capture everything that makes us. In reality, no one can tell you to go to a specific place because the whole island is special. From coast to coast and from the mountains to the valleys. You know what I liked the most, that you took the time to interact with the people. Thank you!
I'm constantly anticipating your videos-- for they are knowledgeable, informative, and genuinely fun in every way. I wish you all the best in the world and may you continue sharing your journey with us. ♡♡♡
Puerto Rico is the most amazing place in the United States, it has a rich culture and its own identity, its music, architecture, urbanism, people, mixtures, language, a beautiful mix between the United States and Latin America.
My Beautiful tropical island 🏝 🌴 thanks for showing and sharing the beauty of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 it brings more tourist to the beautiful island que viva Puerto Rico my Caribbean island God bless
Great video first time subscriber...loved how you show the locals and how they live and not just the tourist areas. Also you make me hungry now with all that food haha '
Graduated from high school there in 1988 and joined the Navy. I live in Connecticut now and all this time I've felt like I'm just away temporarily. Will move back for retirement.
one correction the town is San Juan; the fortress is called "El Castillo del Morro" a tourist/historical landmark even for the locals. I went on a field trip to it when i was in elementary school
Malini, thank you for visiting/exploring PR. You look like a local on the island but there's more to PR than San Juan area. Next time, go to the country side, aguadilla. Listen to Jibarito, danza music. And explore more Taino culture. Thank you💗
Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately we only have a few weeks in each place to film and edit so can't do it all and there is so much to explore! Next time! 🙌
I really love the latin culture with its music, dancing, cuisine and warm hospitality...I can see the Spanish and Portuguese influences in Puerto Rico with the architecture and all the other elements that make up the Interesting blend of the history and culture..I must visit one day Malini, great video as always ❤
Portuguese? Born and raised in Puerto Rico, the closest Lusitanian influence to which I ever came is my wife; she's Brazilian. Never heard of that in Puerto Rico.
As a Puerto Rican since birth i approve yor video. Good not biased to tourism, and went to different parts of the island. Only correction is that we are a colony. And to some comments ive seen. We receive assistance from the US. We are cracking down on corruption, and you only need a driver's license to get here.
Watching Malini's videos gives me nostalgic vibes and these are places I have never visited. I always tell myself damn that is where I wanna be, so peaceful and full of life. I hope one time she will travel to Africa ❤.
You did an amazing job covering the island showcasing our heritage, foods and culture. Thank you! I'm glad I discovered your channel and I love watching your content. By the way you ate that morcilla (blood sausage) like a champ, LOL. I know a lot of people that cringe at it. I personally love it. Keep up the great videos!
And I will say something shocking. Puerto Ricans, PER CAPITA, are the most accomplished people on the planet, perhaps with the exceptions of the Jews. That title would have gone to the Cubans, had it not been for the Revolution . . . If you would consider 4 million on the island alone, and certainly with the 4 million on the US mainland, they are about the best country for boxing champions (usually ranked 3 or 4th for boxing), for baseball stars and teams, for basketball, for international beauty pageants, for music, for dance, for all dimensions of art from painting to a fair amount of literature, for acting . . . and for military, with more medals than any ethnic group I believe . . . goodness. If we'd only focus on more analytic areas like physics . . . and on business creation . . . .
There are 3.2 million Puerto Ricans living on the island and 5.8 million on the mainland USA, making Puerto Ricans the second largest Latin community in the USA, after Mexicans.

Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching 🙏
Really appreciate your presentation skills, very well made video.
Thank you very much!
22:24 NO WAY! HE'S MY HISTORY TEACHER! Thanks a lot for chatting with him in this documentary!
I'm constantly anticipating your videos-- for they are knowledgeable, informative, and genuinely fun in every way. I wish you all the best in the world and may you continue sharing your journey with us.
♡♡♡
So nice to hear that, thank you 🙏
Such a beautiful place Malini Angelica! Thanks for posting this video
Our pleasure !
Malini DEFINITELY loves her beer....HAHAHA....love it!!!
Our pleasure!
Very professional video, non opinionated, respectful, good knowledge of Spanish for a person with apparent British upbringing.
I appreciate that! Glad you enjoyed it
I really miss Puerto Rico
Great video first time subscriber...loved how you show the locals and how they live and not just the tourist areas. Also you make me hungry now with all that food haha '
Thanks for the sub! 🤍
Graduated from high school there in 1988 and joined the Navy. I live in Connecticut now and all this time I've felt like I'm just away temporarily. Will move back for retirement.
Hope you get to!
Happy Tours Africa is following you from Uganda
one correction the town is San Juan; the fortress is called "El Castillo del Morro" a tourist/historical landmark even for the locals.
Next time! 🙌
I love my country. 🇵🇷🇵🇷❤️🙏👍✌️
Technically it’s should be “I love my territory” since PR is an unincorporated territory of the USA.
@mannyaguilar67 incorp or not its land therefore their own identity so = country so stfu
You make me want to go back to my Island 😢 Been in FL since Hurricane Maria 2017 😏
Been watching your videos for a while, I love the fact seeing my country being represented on your channel!
Great, so glad you enjoyed the video!!
I really love the latin culture with its music, dancing, cuisine and warm hospitality...I can see the Spanish and Portuguese influences in Puerto Rico with the architecture and all the other elements that make up the Interesting blend of the history and culture..I must visit one day Malini, great video as always ❤
One of the most fun cultures for sure! Thank you for watching ❤
Cuisine isn’t the best
@@AJ-lj6qgIt’s way better than American cuisine.
I loved it!
Making good vedios to know the different places all over the world
I really love this ❤
Thank you 🙏
I love that island 🏝️ soooo much definitely thinking of moving there permanently
What a Fantastic video Malini!!!! I hope you come to NYC and make a video some day : )
Maybe one day!
I saw your video from Seville, and I loved it. Your accent in both languages is beautiful. And FYI, your suntan looks amazing!
I think the person who was talking about plena from minute 6:18 is mixing and confusing plena with bomba which is another local music genre
I know, right! But they say it with such confidence that you'd believe it was true.
Very great vids, best travel vids on the internet, keep on, keepin on!🎉
Thank you! Will do! Thank you for supporting the channel we really appreciate it!!
Watching Malini's videos gives me nostalgic vibes and these are places I have never visited. I always tell myself damn that is where I wanna be, so peaceful and full of life. I hope one time she will travel to Africa ❤.
I love your show and would love to travel with you someday because I like how you go about places and their history
I religiously check my YT notifs for your videos! so glad I stumbled upon your channel a year ago, love the camera work and story telling :)
Awesome! Thank you!
Puerto rico is my island. Utudo puerto rico.🇵🇷✌️👍🙏❤️🇵🇷
You are a beautiful soul with such a therapeutic voice! Kudos for this
Thank you! 😊
Music & Chilling Nights ❤❤❤❤
Not only are the beaches magnificent, so is at least one beach-goer.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video!!
Best documentary de mi bella isla Puerto Rico! 10/10
Mil gracias!
I ❤ my island of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. Thank you and hope you visit our island again 🤗. Love your videos too 😊
Thank you! Will do!
