    Hi Red
    By epoxy hybrid I meant one of the newer 3n1 primers that are urethane epoxy mixtures(valspar kd2000 or house of color kda 3000) I use hok kda 3000. They dont ball up if you need to sand out a boo boo. I was hoping ppg was throwing their hat in the ring w/ their own version. I use the EPX industrial copy of DPLF which is what I think the other commenter was referring to as it is more of a very dark brown than the black it's supposed to be. Otherwise it is identical to DPLF in every way but price lol. My usual on a job like yours here is epx in the closest color on the bare metal panel followed by hok kda 3000 mixed 4:1:2 as WOW sealer then base/clear. The hybrid can be used/mixed 4:1 as hi build, 4:1:1 med build, or like I said WOW but imho is way to pricey to use as any but sealer. Its advantages are better bare steel adhesion on cut throughs with much better sand ability than epoxy mixed as sealer and I think the epoxy aids in less shrink than urethane sealer alone.. Sorry for the book. Please keep posting I really enjoy your work excellent style.

      Do you have to wet sanding between epoxy primer coats if you leave the coat to dry for more than 24 hours?

    • @bigred3188
      @bigred3188  2 роки тому +1

      @@GabrieLight that all depends on the manufactures recommendations mate some allow you to go days before needing to be resanded and some require it only after a few hours

    Hi Red
    I know this is an older video for you but I'm hoping you'll answer anyway. Can you tell me what the name of this epoxy from ppg is? Is this a hybrid epoxy urethane? Thanks

    • @bigred3188
      @bigred3188  4 роки тому

      Scott Herr hey mate thanks for taking the time to watch my video and to help you out this epoxy is 410-48248, as far as hybrid I’m not sure what you mean but you apply this then do any body work needed then you must hi fill primer over the top or wet on wet (sealer) you cannot top coat straight over this epoxy I hope that helps answer your question my friend

      It’s just where the factory e-coat was still on there a little but not really a big deal at all mate it was that thin that it made no difference to the finish, it was a lot of extra free work that wasn’t suppose to be done

    Hello great video I have a “drift” car I want to paint with a single stage paint. Unfortunately the car is bare metal. I been having such a hard time finding out what primer I should use. Truthfully I’m looking for one type or primer that would protect the bare metal and would let me pray my single stage paint right over it. Any recommendations? I live in Cali so rust is normally not a problem. Please help 😭

    • @bigred3188
      @bigred3188  4 роки тому +2

      Mark Chacon honestly I’m not sure what you would have access to as I’m in Australia but one product I know of is call all you need and it is an epoxy that allows you to seal any bare metal and sticks to bare metal and you can top coat over it but I haven’t personally so I’m not sure but if you get yourself and etch primer spray that first then hifill prime straight over it after 30mins then once dry sand it down and paint over it mate

    • @bigred3188
      @bigred3188  4 роки тому

      AMAZING MEANN I’ve never personally used or even seen a brown epoxy primer but it doesn’t mean there isn’t, most epoxy primers required you to spray hi build primer or surfacer over it before applying paint so generally the colour of the epoxy won’t really matter
