It is odd. I know right off if i like a voice or not. I'll get flamed but... The second I heard Floor didn't like her voice. Doesn't make her bad in anyway. Doesn't make her not great. I just don't like it.

So basically the song is about how she likes feeling sad-the numbness that comes with it- but at the same time she wants to break free from it; she ultimately wants to be happy in the end. So basically a relationship, but with herself.
I'm just throwing out random stuff here but I believe the lyrics are about someone feels trapped in the darkness of their own mind. But they're not so sure they want to leave. That's why it talks about knowing yourself better in the Darkness.

I believe the song is about someone who is experiencing the side effects of Lithium, a psychiatric medication, primarily used to treat bipolar disorder and severe depression. Lithium can induce substantial mood changes as well as lethargy, dysphoria, a loss of interest in interacting with others, and a state of increased mental confusion. When Amy sings, "Don't wanna lock me up inside Lithium, ... don't wanna forget how it feels without Lithium", I believe she is tired of feeling numb and disconnected with the world and everyone in her life.😑
Spot on. Having taken lithium, this song is one of my 'life soundtrack' songs. Cathartic to hear the despair so aptly illustrated in this absolute art.
Its about sorrow; but Amy Lee is using LIthium (addiction) as the metaphor. The "person" is so used to have sorrow that they cant live without it, but know they need to let it go.
Its actually about depression and anti-depression medication. Lithium is a substance that was used in antidepressants and it literally makes you unfeeling (don't know if that's a word) so the part about staying in love with her sorrow and then deciding to let it go is kinda what it was about. (Or so I heard in one of the bands interviews)

Litium is an element used a lot in psychiatrist medication to help personality disorders. Where yes, I agree UT I talking about a relationship I sounds like a toxic one based off the fact she refers to him as the lithium keeping her sane and grounded.
I'm guess I'm always shocked when someone listens to Amy Lee's voice and doesn't connect with it. That's ok, we all have different tastes. Rock on. 🤘

I really liked the song and video.
Back in the 2K's Amy was one of my favourite vocalists, only really edged out by Sharon Den Adel, I honestly couldn't get enough of Evanescence back in the day. I believe Amy said the song was about being comfortable in a low mood when writing songs, while still wanting to break out of that funk and experience happiness.
I am a fan of both bands and i was lucky enough to see their bands played together at the o2 arena. As much as i like sharons voice on their recorded album but damn Amys voice live is just on another level as compared to sharon.

They have quite a few rocking songs. I'm guessing that you've only heard the two ballads (this one and My Immortal), and the oft-played Bring Me to Life. I'd start with Sweet Sacrifice (studio or a live version).

Ok good reaction but I am telling you this now your younger self needed some hearing check because how on Gods earth could you listen to Amy's angel like voice and NOT LOVE IT!!?? Like what??? People who does say that is either super crazy or stupid. She has one of the best voices I have ever heard in my life (and I have heard so so so many amazing voices). I would recommend to listen to more of her songs but now I am nervous that you would not like them and say something stupid. Like I swear if you do react to My Immortal and say anything negative you probably should turn off the comments. I'm just saying. I love Amy so much and I am pretty protective of her. Interesting reaction. You said you weren't really into Amy Lee's voice when you first heard her as a teen, and it seems she hasn't really grown on you since then. I've seen a number of reactions to Amy's voice, but "meh" isn't one I'm at all familiar with.
Wow, the song is called "lithium", she says "lithium" about 50 times, and talks about wanting to stay in touch with her sorrow. I think the song is probably about depression,and, um...Lithium.
