I've got the nice Levy's 4" padded strap and I agree... the quality is not bad but it's substandard leather. The comfort is there though and for me, that's what matters. I've got a nice buffalo leather strap I got from a guy on Etsy and it's great but not really much padding (which I need) and a crazy comfortable Lekato strap but it's not leather. Tomorrow my Anthology Shadowlands strap arrives (along with the $22 extension tongue, because Explorer) and I'm hyped to see what nearly $200 worth of leather strap looks, feels and smells like. I'm a huge leather snob though. Belts and a watch strap from Popov leather, paid extra for real leather in the cars, paid extra for the Heart of the hide baseball glove, etc. The smell is always the dead giveaway on the quality. Edit: I don't trust the dunlop straplocks. I've had a couple fail and when they fail, the guitar falls. The Schaller locks at least have the U channel that the stud sits in so even if it fails to lock, you still have the strap peg resting in the U shaped locking area but I don't use those either. I use those football shaped strap pegs that D'Addario make. Easy on and easy off but nearly impossible to accidentally come off due to their shape. Edit 2: I'm an idiot. I have had an Anthology "The Reticent" strap since 2019 but it's on my acoustic so I don't use it all that much. Very good strap too. I've trashed all my cheap straps.
Isn’t that thing great! My boy told me about them and when it arrived, I was floored!! Such a great strap! Instantly became my favorite! I’m glad you had the same experience, Dennis!!
I just purchased a quality guitar and was looking for a quality black leather strap to work with it, and this video just convinced me to snag an Anthology. Thanks, man!
@@MOAB-UT I definitely still dig my strap, and I bought another (I often play dual acoustic and electric at my gigs). These are going to be my straps from here on out!

Check out richter straps they have multiple styles and colors and lots of lengths but also they offer them in leather and vegan leather so they come even cheaper for that option

My kinda strap! I like hangin em low so I likes me some long straps. I use the Ernie Ball ones personally but they kinda shift too much while I'm playing.
bro i’ve always wanted one of those thick and wide leather straps but like you said they always seem to be made for giants! even with the nylon ones, i need em all the way shortened if i’m playing metal, can go a little lower for rock. but i can never find a nice leather one that can get short enough for my little 5’ 6 ass 😂😭
@@louistorres man i tried on dozens of different leather ones at guitar center the other day and none of them came close so i’m skeptical... but i think what i’m gonna do is measure the straps i have at their shortest length and then email anthology and ask if they have any that get that short, or if they can make a custom one if not. it looks like such a sick strap, and i def need that wider support for my heavier mahogany guitars!
I never liked the nylon straps or the slick leather straps. Either would dig in the shoulder or just slip. I found the Franklin brand leather strap to be perfect. Very decent leather and doesn't fell ridged or cheap.
possible bias - but my better half, she makes the BEST guitar straps, especially for heavier Les Paul sort of weight axes (the woollen outer spreads the load). Outside of that I've maybe spent more on Levys straps than actual guitars. Weakness for their tweed, so flexi.
So glad you like it man! It’s one of those things you really can’t not like! I’m a shameless Allen Edmonds fanatic, so I’m all bout good quality leather.
I'm considering buying this same strap. Is it padded? It looks amazing, but thin. I guess I could always double side tape or Velcro a removable 8" soft piece of black fabric or fabric wrapped foam where it meets my shoulder. For $100 I would have hoped they would have done that already- more practical than a canvas bean bag I don't need.
Lol! Dude, literally the Las video of yours I watched was the one where you were raving about Levy straps. That Anthology strap looks legit, though. Which model of strap did you buy?
You know, I feel like it will go much longer. Unless you're really tall and you play with your guitar really low. Then I can see that being an issue. :)
@@AnthologyGear sweet! That's good to know. I measured my strap length once, and it was 61" from eyelet to eyelet for my flying v's, and 61 3/4 on my les Paul's and ESP 's. Thank you!
@@AnthologyGear Any chance of some tongues with more holes? The last setting is a little too long for me, the second a little shorter. What do your recommend to make a hole if not?
Yes sir, just two four string basses for tracking purpose, plus a Fender Bassman amp. :) I never thought I needed a bass but realized I did! Lol. But get one of these, you'll never feel the weight of your guitar bc it's distributed wider on your shoulder.
If someone has a problem spending 100$ on a quality leather guitar strap that will last a lifetime, they don't take the guitar seriously. Levy makes many different straps. Some of the cheap ones are not leather. You get what you pay for when it comes to straps.
Your stitching on suits comment cracked me up. Very true. When you see quality, you start to recognize it.
Bro, it's so true! A beautiful suit works the stitching into its style. So glad you picked up on that!! :)

Thats funny, I was looking at these straps the other day.
You'll love it, it's a really great strap!
I tried a new leather strap, pretty cool leather carving but not as soft or comfortable as my DR leather straps

The shifting is what drives me crazy. This new one almost clings and I'm guessing it's the leather.
