What amp do you want to see next in "me and my Les Paul"?
Mesa boogie mark v!
don't know if you did already, but a good big ol Marshall would be a dream combination... alternatively, plug it into a big Orange amp, either one will probably sound huge; I'd love to hear a Mastodon-kinda tone
The Laney. Because It’s been a while but those are great amps. You could also throw your Les Paul standard into the mix, I really dig the Seymour Duncan JB pup
At this point you might as well do all of em lol
I am going to do all of them eventually for sure
That tone was _Absolutely Barbaric_
Haha! I guess you mean that in a good way?
@@SonicDriveStudio Yes!
Your LP Custom sounds *so* killer through your Super Kraken! Can I suggest that in addition to what you have planned, that you take one riff, record the DI of it, and then reamp it through each of your amps (eventually, as you go through each one), so that when you're all done, we can hear the same exact riff played back-to-back-to-back-to-back through all of your amps in quick succession? That'd be rad! Cheers!
I actually want to do a "one guitar 53 amps" video with this guitar but it's hard to find the time to do such a thing for now. I hope that will happen eventually
I was thinking that saving a DI and reamping it eventually with each amp you do might be a (relatively) low-effort way for you to do a "one guitar 53 amps", if you just save the reamped output on disk for now, and save all of the production for after you've played through all 53...? Anyway, I can totally understand if it's too much work overall, you put out tons of useful videos and I'm consistently impressed with the content and quality. Keep up the amazing work!
No matter what guitar I play, I always return to my CSLP. The sound and the feel are just there.
I always liked the kraken sound, never tried one tho, thick, aggressive and tight. It sounds like the krank krankenatein (my favorite amp) with a British roar.. Now I know that the gibson 498t sounds awesome. Thanks for the amazing video.
Dude 😂🤚🏼 love the “Me & My Les Paul” you sang in the intro😂👌🏼 BUT DANG!!!! That LP through Super Kraken - like they were made for each other!!!!
That said, what we really needed from you was more of those lovely vocals over your riff - please please!!🙏🏼😂
Haha thanks man
@@SonicDriveStudio thanks for another awesome video! 🔥🖤🔥
Dude, the amount of amps you have just makes me jealous I'm not gonna lie! I grew up poor using homemade speaker cabs & Gorilla or Crate amps. Yep, I'm a 80s kid lol. I am however building my dream studio setup (because now I own my own studio, I have a 1959hw plexi, a JVM210h, 3 Fenders, 2 Supros & 2 Blackstars. Lovebthe vids man, good stuff!!
Ok.... after THIS demo Victory finally won my attention
Keep the super kraken videos coming!!
With the Friedman....
Thanks to your killer playing and superb mix Jon, I just ordered a Kraken pedal amp. It should make for an awesome high gain gigging amp. Great job as always man! Keep up the fantastic work!
Awesome, Thanks! Enjoy your amp!
EQ pedals are so clutch!
Not sure what you mean man hahaha
@@SonicDriveStudio lol its an American saying. "Clutch" means that it comes in handy or is really good. Like when someone makers a football goal right before the time runs out.
@@LucasLeCompteMusic in that case I agree! Very handy to have :)
Oof, Jon! Might be one of the thickest tones you've gotten in a long time. I dunno, you're a tone magician all the time, but this has the UMPH. Fireball 25 with the LP I'd be super happy to see. Even if you do the LP with all your lunchbox amps in that watt range for comparison. I love playing my Custom. It's always a chunky joy.
Thanks man!
man just the title of this video made me smile! great work man!
WOW!! That is insane sounding mix! It will be difficult to top that ;)
dude sounds SO sick! and the new camera setup is looking righteous!
what a killer video!! I would LOVE to see you using the rockerverb with that Les Paul beauty
Thanks! That's definitely on the to do list!
I want to mention that that amplifier and guitar combo it sounds so freaking awesome it's something I'm actually looking for. That's the sound I'm actually looking for. But like I said I can't afford it in the future it'll probably be way too far out of my reach. Because by then the price will double or if not more than double then the price it is now.
If you like the 498t then try the 500t. Imho the best gibson pickup for Metal.
Sounds killer!
Amazing sound!
Heard some System of a Down flavor in there for parts of that song, sounded great!
Hey Jon. Thanks so much for your great channel. Your are an awesome crack in playing guitar. So I want to ask you if you could do some video lessons about riffs you play.
If you are having issues with extra noise when looping your amp through the Axe FX, a DI box between the Axe FX and the amp's input would maybe help. You most likely don't need a DI box from your load box, as it's most likely already isolating with an output transformer (at least Suhr Reactive Load does that).
How does the pedal size kraken differ from the head version in sound?
I have this amp too though I usually feel like I have to darken it to remove some of that high end ice pickiness. Sweet riffs man!
Just got an LP Custom too. Sounds nice however I get some nasty squeals at high gain especially when I stop playing. My other LPs don't do that but I use BK pickups in those which may help keeo things quieter.
You mentioned that you use a noise gate when you play. Was it squealing realy bad without it?
Sounds awesome mate!🔝👌🏻
Killer tone i have to say!
Thanks! Really enjoyed it too
Yeah that's a very great and all but that's only if you buy the amplifier speaker to go with it and it's got to be matching. I mean it really doesn't have to be matching but to get that real authentic raw sound. I just looked up an amplifier for that same brand and it was over $2,000. I think it would be worth it if you were a decent musician I'm just talking in general here. And you had the ability and you were marketable and you are valuable as a musician to make good money that would be the only way it would be worth it to me to spend $2,000 on an amplifier like that or more. Does that make sense I think you would agree. Not everybody's at the same level and is just going to go out there and buy one. You have to find the right buyer for it and know that they're going to put good used to it. I would really like to own one of those amplifiers but the problem is I couldn't afford it at the moment.
What a tone. Have you had a chance to compare this to the V4 version?
Is there a difference to putting the EQ pedal in the loop VS putting it after the line out of a loadbox ? I just bought this amp and I love but, but some brightness would be welcome sometimes, especially depending of the IR I am using. TY for the videos.
If I could ask a question: I've heard, and found to be true, that humans favor more trebly and louder sounds. Keeping this in mind, when I EQ things, I like to take a sample with EQ and one without, and level them so they sound like they're around the same level (important: not using simple level meter, using perceived loudness.) If the EQ'd sample sounds better after doing that, it stays. I've been consistently surprised at how many times I thought I had something that was better, but in the end it was just more trebly or louder. This has really helped me hone in one what I need to do to get the sounds that I'm after. I think that and cutting vs boosting eq first have been the two most valuable/fruitful lessons for me.
My question is this: Is this something that you do as well? If not, do you have any tips/tricks you'd like to share regarding EQ?
Good question. I don't think about it too much tbh. I try to avoid eq as much as possible but when I do it I try to keep it as simple as possible
I’d also like to hear this amp battle against the V4 (newest) pedal amp by them 🤘🏼
.10’s in C# ? Wow ! I thought they would be too small. I use 11-49 for E flat on my LP’s….!
10s work great for me in Eb. All about personal preference!
I use 10's to 52"s in D standard and drop C on my Les Pauls, have done for years...
Jon what monitors do you use? It’s hard to understand what kinda voodoo you use but damn… it all sounds great.
Adam A77Xs but I also use Sonarworks because my room isn't ideal
I just bought this guitar! How are synching your video with the audio? Would you help me learn how to do it myself? I want to make videos. I have Cubase 12 pro.
I love this combo!!
Love your riffs...
PB2… also, please do PB2 v Invader 100. I just sold my PB2 and kept my Invader just would like to hear your thoughts.
Hey Mate, your music is damn awesome. if you take the road for a gig, let us know!
Sounds amazing. Could you do a video using a Neural DSP plug in.
Insane! Is this tone possible to achieve on POD GO?
Bonus points if in the future you show us more of your effects loop EQ settings with any amp.
I almost never use it but if I use it I will show my settings
@@SonicDriveStudio I initially bought my MXR Ten Band to pair with my Orange TH30 but I haven't had much luck with any amp in terms of enhancing my tone. I am, however, GREAT at making an amp sound bad with the MXR.
@@JoelCSabo focus on what your ears want to hear. I know it's not easy but really try to listen for what is missing or what there is too much of any target those areas.
Wonderful video! Quick question..on your Custom did you have to adjust the budge, saddle or neck relief when you are in the lower tuning? Btw because of you I bought the same guitar in wine red. I’ll send you the bill! Cheers!
Sounds Killer !
maybe with the 6505mh or jvm? and the image quality is better indeed :)
You like Elixirs over NYXL’s? I find the D’adarrio’s last longer and offer tuning stability more than any other string I’ve ever tried.
Never tried those Nyxls but I love Elixirs!
Yep i am related to this video. Have the same AMP and EQ . Have a rack only with 2 captors and fxloop so i can use it with all my amps.
EQ on fxloop will make an amp sound even better. I dont want to change the overall sound but it helps to shape it if you need in case of using a friends cab
Bro. Mah walllet. Stahp! 😂
Where is the engl powerball 2 video ? 😕
Next week! Tuesday
@@SonicDriveStudio hell yeah! 😁 if ever you come across a powerball 1 do a comparison to the powerball 2 would be a sick video and vs fireball 😁
☯️
Try an ENGL, or more ;)
this amp really should have a dedicated clean channel, so thats a dealbreaker for me..i got the preamp pedal instead and paired it with the copper for cleans and a mesa 395 as a poweramp, so sad that i cannot send you this stuff for testing my friend, your channel is just youtube bargain for me! cheers
This one has a clean channel!
@@SonicDriveStudio amp and pedal have the same preamp that is not really "clean" just a downgraded distortion channel based on a jcm 900, no comparison to the copper or even the jack.
@@Turbo-D on the VX100 super kraken the gain 1 side has a clean and crunch setting. It literally says clean on the amp and foot switch.
@@imacashew. just read my post again, thanks.
This government really truly f****** sucks. Because of inflation who's going to want to keep themselves motivated and inspire to keep pushing hard to develop themselves as a musician and know there's some kind of financial future for them we all have to have an initiative that motivates us and makes us do what we need to to accomplish goals and if it's rock and roll and we love rock and roll the only hard part about making that dream come true is the financial side of it. A lot of people don't realize it but when they're starting out they don't realize they're going to be breaking out another thousand because it's a huge financial investment in yourself. That's why I believe everyone out there can't become a multimillion-dollar rockstar musicians. Is it possible? That is a good question. I think it's possible if you don't mind spending every dollar that you can possibly put into it and the time in the effort what it takes to hone your craft as a musician. Keep up the good work you got sick wicked ass riffs.
