Playing a guitar left handed and be both handed also. On one concert he broke 2 strings and get guitar but no time to move strings from one guitar to another. He just did what people want - play in his style.
The famous story about Jimi lighting the guitar on fire has more depth than a lot of people realize. He was only starting to gain popularity, but he was not yet well known. He was staying with a girl who had lots of influential friends in the music industry, and she got him the gig where that happened. She invited lots of friends to make sure he had a good audience to grow his reputation, and get exposure. The guitar he lit on fire WASN'T his - it was loaned to him for the performance. He got in a lot of trouble with his friends for that.

@@MrVvulf He got the idea of setting his guitar on fire from Chas Chandler (The Animals bassist) who produced his first album and assembled the other musicians for The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Jimi is from the 60s man, he's the OG. At this same festival he also plays the guitar behind his back , neck of the guitar towards the floor during Wild Thing, before he burns the guitar and then smashes it!🎸🔥

SRV is one of the best Jimi Hendrix-style guitarists there ever was. But Jimi Hendrix is Jimi Hendrix. Creating a style is a whole lot different from polishing someone else's.
"Somebody give Jimi something to eat!" That just killed me on the spot. Awesome reaction as usual, hugely entertaining. Jimi Hendrix was a musical genius, and he handled the guitar as an extension of himself. It's the type of talent that can't be bought, held back or bargained with, it had to come out. And the world is a greater place because we were graced with the presence of Jimi Hendrix. His time on this earth was all to short.
Jimi Hendrix didn’t just play guitar with chords and scales Jimi Hendrix played guitar with pure emotion and soul he truly was an exceptional guitarist and one-of-a-kind.
And your gonna argue that SRV didn't channel his soul though his instrument. That Stevie didn't have a sloppy chords was crisper cleaner more accomplished
Stevie Ray Vaughn is arguably the greatest player to ever walk the Earth......Jimi Hendrix is UNQUESTIONABLY the greatest player to ever inhabit the COSMOS.
Just because Jimi was an innovator....DOES NOT MAKE HIM THE BEST. Stevie was far superior on the guitar. And it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to know. They're both on video. Watch them side by side if you want. I don't care what style, what genre....SRV is the G.O.A.T.
One of the ideas that goes around which I tend to agree with is that Jimi is undoubtedly more influential of a guitarist and pretty much wrote the book on modern electric guitar but SRV perfected it. They get compared a lot because Stevie covered some Jimi songs but they are pretty different honestly. Jimi has strong blues influences but was really discovering it as he went and was in the psychedelic rock era. Stevie is blues to his core and perfected his aggressive, cut to your soul playing style. In my opinion they are one and two all time and whoever I think is one depends on which side of the bed I wake up on that day. Both are perfect guitarists for what they wanted to be.
I look at SRV as the the best I have ever seen at letting the music flow through his hands and into the guitar. He never ties up no matter how intense it gets. I look at Hendrix as the greatest inventor of music I have ever seen. Regarding showmanship I have have to give the edge to Jimi.
Jimmy played between the legs behind the back above the shoulders behind the head with his teeth and all kinds of crazy shit. Plus he just looks so relaxed like he didn't even try.
playing with teeth or behind the back: I think the point here is that many guitarists could do it technically, but only Hendrix can do it credibly, his relationship with the guitar was unique
@@barbarascotto3873 Jimi is a genious and SRV is a great guitar player. They are 2 different animals. Can't compare the two. JIMI change music. I like SRV a lot but as a great guitarist. I think Jimi had better albums wrote great stuff(NOT SHITTY SINGS LIKE PURPLE HAZE) He was much more advanced in the studio. I heard a news reporter say to SRV They compare you to Jimi Hendrix and he said there will never be another Hendrix. SRV idolized Jimi. There are many great guitarists but only one Jimi. I hope more kids listen to his music and get moved like I did at 14 years old.
@@jeffriessman9693 I'm not saying Jimi is not great, just that I feel SRV is better. Of course SRV said "there'll never be another Hendrix"; he was a humble man. I saw the same interview as well. He also said it on The Arsenio Hall show.
“There were guitar players weeping. They had to mop the floor up. He was piling it on, solo after solo. I could see everyone’s fillings falling out. When he finished, it was silence. Nobody knew what to do. Everybody was dumbstruck, completely in shock” - Vocalist Terry Reid recalls Hendrix’s 1966 show at London’s Bag O’Nails “I remember thinking that here was a force to be reckoned with. It scared me, because he was clearly going to be a huge star, and just as we are finding our own speed, here was the real thing” - Eric Clapton recalls Hendrix joining him on the stage of Portland Hall in Regent Polytechnic in 1966 to play an impromptu version of Howlin’ Wolf’s Killin’ Floor “I was just having a pre-gig pint in a pub across the road and in comes this guy who turns out to be Jimi Hendrix. Now, we had already heard about Jimi on the grapevine. Jimi came up to me and said: “Hi. I would like to sit in with the band”. I said it was fine with me but he’d obviously have to check it out with Eric and Ginger. So we went across to the gig, and Eric immediately said yes and Ginger said: “Oh, dunno about that” [laughs]. So he came on and plugged into my bass amp, and as far as I can remember he just blew us all away.” - Cream’s Jack Bruce
he spent 14 hours a day with the guitar in his hands. died at 27. just imagine accomplishing that so young. now eddie van halen "eruption live without a net" and youll see the other most iconic individual guitar player.
Eruption is a joke lmao not hard to play at all just turn ur amp to 11 and tap on the fret board. Sad that people think playing fast means ur good lmao. Smh.
B B King said... "I've said that playing the blues is like having to be black twice. Stevie Ray Vaughan missed on both counts, but I never noticed". B.B. king was a genius
My Mom was friends with SRV's wife in Austin back in the day. I was raised by "Hippies" having been born in 1966, and my parents were friends with a lot of musicians. I was always of the mind that through knowing people such as that back then it wasn't about who was "Better" it was a communal sense of enjoying what others could do. Just a perspective. Enjoy your videos! Keep on being you! ;-) Peace
I would say Hendrix is the king. SRV is amazing, but as my dad used to say- "Hendrix never did covers of SRV songs..." Granted, SVR came quite a bit later than Hendrix, but he also might be the most influential guitarist of all time. Hell, SRV himself was inspired by the man, and even idolized Hendrix. My uncle is the best guitarist you've never heard of(primarily blues) and he would disagree with me. But i have to go with what my soul says when I listen to both, and Hendrix is my man. Mr.Video- Hendrix predates SRV and was a huge influence for him. In fact the reaction you did for Voo Doo Child is a Hendrix song.
low rider thank you! Hendrix was obviously a huge influence for Stevie. But his biggest influence wasn't even Hendrix. Without Albert King, there would be no SRV. And if you want to be really technical, without his brother Jimmie, Stevie never would have picked up the guitar in the first place
@@csi2448 right on but another big influence on SRV was legendary Lonnie Mack, they recorded together. Wham is one that came from that recording session.
low rider I didn't want to list them all, because I'd be here all day! Stevie was honestly like a sponge. I can hear sooooooooooo many of his influences when I listen to him. I love him and Lonnie playing acoustic together on the American Caravan performance from 1986. Also, Scuttle Buttin' is basically Stevie homage to Lonnie. You probably knew that, but for those that didn't, hopefully they learned a little something. Stevie helped out Lonnie a lot too. Produced an album for him and even helped him out financially when he his music wasn't selling. Both are amazing players!!
SRV was heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix but Jimi probably never heard of SRV but there's no doubt that Jimi would have loved and appreciated SRV's style. The bottom line is, Jimi and Stevie were both extremely original and gifted guitarists and they were both the best at what they did..
Jimi has so many great songs that were never played on the radio...a few that come to mind are "Thrash Man " "Pali Gap" "Drifting" " EZ Rider" so many more .
Remember, SRV is playing during the 80s. Jimmy was creating during the 60s. He was doing what no one ever did with a guitar with no blue print to follow. He was the blue print for the greats.
Cory Coles please do! Billie Gibbons went on to form ZZ Top. And Buddy Guy is one of the pioneers. The video of Hendrix going to see him play live should still be on UA-cam
Remember Jimi was playing his guitar upside-down and that also means he's playing all of the chords backwards and upside-down. That's how he had to learn as a left handed kid, on a right handed guitar at 9 yrs old. Self taught, Hendrix was like no one the rock world had ever seen before. Legends like Stevie Ray Vaughn idolized Jimi, and even dressed like him. Hendrix was the first to play with his teeth, and behind his his back. Seen for the first time in a British pub, the great Eric Clapton saw Hendrix play the Blues song "Killing Floor." Clapton was visibly shaken after Jimi's performance, and The Who's Pete Townsend said, "This guy is going to put us all out of business." Clapton was known as "God" in the Rock world, Hendrix just destroyed that myth in about 5 minutes. True story. It's in every Hendrix Biography, and admitted to by the people involved, including Eric Clapton. Jimi was the Best, and the first to do the shit he did, on an upside-down guitar. Seattle's own Jimi Hendrix is a Legend.
There are so many amazing guitar gods that i could never choose. Jimmi, Billy Gibbons, Albert King, Buddy Guy, BB King, SRV, Jimmy Page, Prince, and so many more. It's too hard. I would rather just be grateful to still be able to be mezmorized by their talents thanks to video.
Listen to Alvin Lee and ten Years After play ' Woodchoppers Ball ". He was the original speed picker. He was shredding ten years (1967) before Eddie Van Halen came out with Eruption. It wasn't metal but it will blow your mind. Alvin never got the credit he deserved. Nobody played like him in the 60's and early 70's. You gotta check him out.
“Will somebody get this man something to eat” 😂 You make my day Mr. Video! SRV idolized and learned a lot of techniques from Jimi. Jimi did it first but SRV mastered it!
Jimi died in 1970 at age 27. SRV was only 16 at the time. SRV really is the GOAT, but Jimi remains the Legend on the Throne. When you hear, “Hendrix” it has an entirely different affect than when you hear, “Stevie Ray”. Hendrix is like, “here world, let me show you all how it is done”. “Stevie Ray is like, “thank you master, let me show how I’ve perfected what you showed me”.
@@satexman2585 you need to do some Hendrix research my friend. Hendrix was a prodigy. He only started playing the guitar in 1961. He learned his chops in R&B bands in NY. You’re right about Seattle. He was in the Army when he first started playing.
No, Jimi was already playing before he went into the Army. He asked his dad to send him the guitar because he was having trouble while he was in paratrooper training. He started playing live gigs while was in the Army, he had met Billy Cox, who played bass and would later play bass for Jimi's last album and withwhat supposed to be The Band of Gypsies with Buddy Miles on drums, but Jimi died before they could get into the studio.
Watch more Jimi videos. He played behind his back, behind his head, between his legs, with his teeth and more. Not just the greatest guitarist, but also the greatest showman on guitar.
Bro, the song Hey Joe was written by a guy named, Billy Roberts, SRV, did not invent playing behind your head or back, A Blues Guy Named, T Bone Walker did,T Bone also started playing with his Teeth, you should check out T Bone Man, also Jimi used to go watch, the Blues Legend, Buddy Guy, He picked up some things on how Buddy played, Rock on,
This song was and will always be linked to my father for me. His love for music came from Hendrix, and music became a part of my life really early thanks to him. I miss my father man. Great upload.
Jimi definitely one of the best to ever do it! RIP JH, heaven has one hell of a band.🎼🎶🎸🔥🤘😎 Imagine SRV and Jimi jammin out.......oooh Jimmy Hendrix was first.....
Jimi was on a whole other level, just as EVH was a decade later. I always had them one and two (Jimi first) but when Eddie passed, I watched a ton of vids, and as both were masters, I think I give the nod to EVH now. Both major influences on me since a child.
SRV was a blues guitarist on steroids, and incredibly capable of covering Jimi which is very hard to do. Jimi was an alien that came to earth picked up a stratocaster and flipped music upside down forever
Stevie was playing in bands before Jimi passed - not anything anyone ever heard of - unless you're from North Texas. But yeah, SRV wasn't really "on the map" until '78.
Even going back further is the great T Bone Walker, who was one of Jimi's biggest inspirations. T Bone played behind his back before anyone going back years earlier. So many great legends! :)
@@gregoryyates988 Calling SRV a mere "imitator" is just plain ignorance. He was clearly incredibly skilled at what he did - not to mention, he did have his own songs too. Lenny at the El Mocambo for example is an incredible example of Stevie's dynamics, technique and soul. They both covered songs too. Based on your imitator comment, what does that make Jimi then regardless of him changing things here and there just like Stevie did? I could also go on about how T Bone walker played behind the back of his head before Jimi did too? So is Jimi just a mere "imitator" as well?
Don't get caught up in the "who's the best "debate. Enjoy the music! Jimi, Stevie and Prince are all geniuses. Jimi came first and was a huge influence on thousands if not millions of guitarists including SRV and Prince. SRV and Prince influenced the next generation. There is no "best ", only your favorite. Even that can change depending on the mood you're in. Keep exploring new music besides your reaction videos. There's so much good music out there, it's nearly impossible to hear it all.
Sorry, Jimi was, still is, and will always be the best! He opened doors to what can be done with a guitar. No one had single handedly, done what he did commercially. Even the other greatist guitarest who were around the same time, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton all were in awe of what he was doing. That says it all.
Back in the 80s I found a album Jimi Hendrix concerts I don’t know if it’s around today back then it was hard to find the first track was Are You Experience live which I thought was the best version and the only live version at that time I had all his studio albums but listen more to his live versions over the studios any day.you are right headphones and a joint can’t go wrong
Yaaas. Thank you for this outstanding to reaction to this amazing song. Been waiting on your reaction to this song and you didn't disappoint. You've been dropping straight 🔥 this week. 💯
There is Jimi Hendrix and then there’s everyone else ! SRV came years later than Jimi , SRV was a kid when Jimi was a rock star ! SRV pretty much tried to copy Jimi and added his Texas blues he was awesome but you can’t compare him to Jimi because Jimi was the master of disaster ! Jimi still is still the best guitarist and showman hands down!
I'm an old timer from the 60's. Growing up there were lots of live bands playing black clubs from Thursday night through Sunday night. I grew up in Chester, Pa when it was jumpin'. Not only was Chester jumping but the whole Philadelphia area had some outstanding black bands, Saw lots of cats who could play with their teeth, behind their backs, etc. It was an imitation of what Chuck Berry was doing back then. Although Chuck never played with his teeth he popularized other ways of playing his guitar. It was considered to be part of "the show". This was standard fare at the black clubs back then. Hendrix just exposed what was happening in black clubs to the rest of the world once he had an opportunity to let loose and play. He just killed it, period. But he wasn't the only brother doing his "thing". He was fortunate to meet Chas Chandler who took him to England and exposed him to the world. I'll stop here because if you weren't there, you'll never understand what I'm talking about.
Can everyone agree that Eric Clapton should be considered when talking about the BEST EVER? Jimi said Eric was his idol and vice versa. Plus Clapton had huge respect for SRV. I think you can say top 3, with the best player being whoever you’re feeling that day. ✌️💗😊
Love Clapton but his technique is incredibly simple. He never plays a bad note tho he's the guy that can play a perfect solo having never heard the song. But I'd say Duane Allman for runner-up to Jimi. It's all personal taste tho. EVH is nowhere on any list of my GOATS but some ppl love him. Eddie Hazel is comparatively unknown but he's top 5 for me
I don’t know if I’d say Clapton is boring or not an aggressive player. Obviously we’ve got to see his entire career and I think if you look at “everything” he’s done. It’s pretty freakin impressive. And yes I agree Duane Allman was amazing. As far as my fav players right now that I’ve seen, it would have to be Derek Trucks, Luther Dickinson, Jimmy Herring, Warren Haynes, and a few others. I don’t want to hate on anyone or say these guys are brilliant this is just what I’m into and they make music that makes me boogie! ✌️💗😊
@@andrealarocco4941 yes, Clapton is a fantastic player. He just doesn't evoke a strong emotional response or excitement for me like Hendrix and others do. Maybe I'm just bored of standard Blues.?
Love em both, Jimi is the greatest showman.....that concert there, the monterey pop festival 67, Jimi is a guitar hero for 50 minutes nonstop, please watch the rest of it, especially the end, it's FIRE
Mr. Video, you are the best! I used to think that you were just goofy, but now I see how brilliant you are in coming up with such funny stuff in real time and putting in the effort to be insightful. Keep up the good work.
We wouldn’t be talking about SRV if it wasn’t for Jimi Hendrix the GOAT. SRV was playing stuff Jimi invented. Jimi was the first to do all those crazy things with his guitar. SRV was good, but he was just a clone of Jimi, even down to his clothes he wore. Without Jimi there wouldn’t be a SRV. Just look at Rolling Stone’s Top 100 guitar players, SRV didn’t even make the top 10.
Jimi was first, but the old black blues players is where Jimi got playing with his teeth from. Side note at the festival no one wanted to play after him, he said if he was going on last he was pulling out all the stops. So his first American appearance as The Jimi Hendrix Experience was this legendary performance you just saw a portion of.
Early on, Jimi couldn't afford to buy a left handed guitar so he had gotten quite comfortable playing with it upside down. To show how really talented he was, there are some early videos of him playing the guitar just flipped over no adjusting the strings. Later he would restring it like a normal setting even though the guitar itself was still upside down.
klaptongroovemaster Hi, the goat means you think they’re the best at what they do. Like if you have a favorite quarterback you can say he is the goat & any sport person or musician, singer etc. pick someone you really like & tell your friends that person is the goat. Lol!
No dude -Understand Jimi Hendrix played in the 60's with 3 special effects pedal (not a whole board with multi-effects) he played with both hands and behind his back he was the 1st to do all of it. He is the blueprint of a guitar god !
Awwww, come back Jimi Hendrix. He was brilliant. So many people got their style and ideas from him. But, lol, Jimi is just singing about what the imaginary "Joe" told him in the song. It's "Joe" who's going to shoot his old lady down for messing around.
Great reaction! Chill the f out Jimmie! You are the best first reaction dude ! It was a different time back in my time of the late 60’s ! People could speak their minds! Keep up the great videos.
You’ve got to try Jimi’s Voodoo Child, it’s the ultimate guitar song, and yes, SRV does a hell of a rendition of it too. SRV may have perfected his technique to a higher level than Jimi, but Jimi was the song writer and creator. He developed all on his own. SRV picked up what Jimi originated and added a bit more flash and polish to it. It doesn’t take anything away from him, but without Jimi trailblazing the way, SRV would have been an entirely different player.
Break on Through should be his first. Then Light My Fire, I'm Gonna Love You, and then... The End. It makes me a little sad sometimes when reviewers only get to a band's big hits, rather than a deeper cut that is more quintessentially them. Like when they do Tom Sawyer by Rush, when they should have started with La Villa Strangiato, studio version from Hemispheres.
@@klaptongroovemaster yeah, mr. video should definitely react to the original uncensored version of "break on through" and the original long version of "light my fire" but before all that, he needs to experience "when the music's over," "not to touch the earth," "the end" and "five to one"
Yes! Super surprised no Doors yet! SO many to choose from. Roadhouse Blues, LA Woman, The End, Break on Through, Light my Fire, The Soft Parade, When The Music's Over, Peace Frog, Backdoor Man... I agree with othera. The Doors have had a place in my heart since I was 14. I listened to nothing else for a few years. I'm dying to see Roadhouse Blues, Break On Through or the long version of Light My Fire. Please Mr.Video!!! Bring The Doors, it's a whole other experience!
Hendrix was around about a decade before SRV. SRV is my favorite, but SRV looked up to Hendrix and other Blues Musicians. Another thing Hendrix died at age 27 and SRV died just shy of his 36th birthday.
I haven't seen anyone mention...that Jimi would play with like 5 hits of acid in his headband. He was literally in another world above the rest of the world
U cannot say who is better. It’s matter of opinion.Like art different “styles”a-peal to erbody. But for me SRV swagger ,technic n sound are unmatched. 🌴
Checking in to see if you forgot about SRV yet, ha ha. Jimi did the behind the back thing, "SRV style," way before SRV, and Jimi goes between the legs too on Wild Thing. But that is all just for fun, Jimi is the electro-sonic master of the universe, still...
Oh shit dude, the entire Hendrix at Monterey is amazing!!! Jimi died in 1970 at the age of 27. Definitely played behind his back before SRV but i doubt he was the first to do that. All footage of him at this concert is something to see
chuck 💁🏾♀️ That maybe true (him possibly not being the 1st to play behind his back)....BUT...how many other guitarists played their guitars behind their backs playing it completely upside-down? That’s right...Hendrix played right-handed guitars left-handedly...in otherwords...upside-down! He was the GOAT for sure✌🏾!
Still not the fairest comparison, IMO. Stevie didn't sing the lyrics and he made it into a completely different song. The El Mocambo version is top their stuff though. Stevie wasn't on planet earth that night!! Voodoo is the better comparison. Either way, Stevie still found a way to make Hendrix's songs his own songs
Hendrix did everything SRV covered WAAY better. SRV and others put to much non needed notes in the songs. I get they're covers but meh they ruin them more then make them sound good.
I love all these comments. Learning so much. Some of the music, not my cup of tea, but then I read about the history and listen again with a different take. You are attracting a very savvy audience Mr Video. 😊 kudos..

Playing a guitar left handed and be both handed also. On one concert he broke 2 strings and get guitar but no time to move strings from one guitar to another. He just did what people want - play in his style.

"Hey Joe" was written by a singer named Billy Roberts, who was part of the Greenwich Village folk scene in the early '60s.
This was 1967. Jimi died in 1970.
Stevie’s first release came out in 1983.
Both are great players.
Jimi was totally unique.
Jimi is the OG, when thinking of Prince, take a little Jimi, a little James Brown and a dash of Little Richard.
Dave Curry 💁🏾♀️ Agreed✌🏾!
Just about Right 👍

....& a Rick James copy cat???? 😳😬🤣
Jimi inspired me so much .. Jimi came before SRV...SRV would tell you Jimi inspired him too !!
Of course Jimi came first and was awesome! But you can’t deny SRV’s awesomeness!
@@reneemoon8963 I totally agree SRV was an awesome guitar player ..If Jimi had still been around I think he would have said the same !
Jimi inspired everyone who came after him.

Stevie Ray Vaughn is arguably the greatest player to ever walk the Earth......Jimi Hendrix is UNQUESTIONABLY the greatest player to ever inhabit the COSMOS.
SRV was an imitator, Jimi was an innovator. Without Jimi, and Albert King there is no SRV.
@@carlwalker9635spoken word to those doubters. They ALL COPIED JIMI… enuff said.
Vaughn is great for you Americans.
Outside of the USA he's practically nobody.
Gary Moore was far better than Vaughn.
Couldn't have said it better myself :)
I agree! SRV Lenny(Live at the El Mocambo) You see SRV become the music. AMAZING!!!
I look at SRV as the the best I have ever seen at letting the music flow through his hands and into the guitar. He never ties up no matter how intense it gets. I look at Hendrix as the greatest inventor of music I have ever seen. Regarding showmanship I have have to give the edge to Jimi.
the trick is that had Hendrix got a chance to live he would have continued to innovate. SRV is the prince but Hendrix is king
Right: "He wrote the book."
Jimmy played between the legs behind the back above the shoulders behind the head with his teeth and all kinds of crazy shit. Plus he just looks so relaxed like he didn't even try.

Of course SRV said "there'll never be another Hendrix"; he was a humble man. I saw the same interview as well. He also said it on The Arsenio Hall show.
Never noticed the similarities between Prince’s style and Jimi. They even both have songs involving “purple” 🧐
There's lots of artists out there who take much inspiration from Jimmy. Lenny Kravitz really really wishes he was Jimmy.
I wish I was Jimi
Prince said although he loves Jimi his music style of playing was really bluesy and his is more happy like Santana
Little Richard took credit for Jimi's style. I forget what show I saw the interview on.
Prince idolized Jimi. Check out prince's covers of machine gun and purple haze and red house! So great!
“There were guitar players weeping. They had to mop the floor up. He was piling it on, solo after solo. I could see everyone’s fillings falling out. When he finished, it was silence. Nobody knew what to do. Everybody was dumbstruck, completely in shock”
- Vocalist Terry Reid recalls Hendrix’s 1966 show at London’s Bag O’Nails
“I remember thinking that here was a force to be reckoned with. It scared me, because he was clearly going to be a huge star, and just as we are finding our own speed, here was the real thing”
- Eric Clapton recalls Hendrix joining him on the stage of Portland Hall in Regent Polytechnic in 1966 to play an impromptu version of Howlin’ Wolf’s Killin’ Floor
“I was just having a pre-gig pint in a pub across the road and in comes this guy who turns out to be Jimi Hendrix. So he came on and plugged into my bass amp, and as far as I can remember he just blew us all away.”
- Cream’s Jack Bruce

Ah yes the 27 club !!
Eruption is a joke lmao not hard to play at all just turn ur amp to 11 and tap on the fret board. Sad that people think playing fast means ur good lmao. Smh.
SRV was having a conversation with Jimi thru his guitar. Its how he communicated with his inspiration on the other side.
Album “Band of Gypsy’s “ song , Machine Gun. Prepare yourself
Hell yes. Jimi at his prime
And then follow that up with a cover of Machine Gun by the Isley Brothers!
His best performance ever in my opinion.
Machine Gun Band Of Gypsy’s some of the best music ever created raw emotional and heavy.
I vouch.
Jimi was brilliant!
B B King said...
"I've said that playing the blues is like having to be black twice. Stevie Ray Vaughan missed on both counts, but I never noticed".
B.B. king was a genius
And jimi never missed. SRV was just a blues guitarist jimi was a force of nature.
Well put
Without Jimi there would be no SRV.
Yes there would have been. SRV had several legendary blues players for inspiration and idols.
low rider thank you!
First last & best ! He sets it a fire as well ! 😁👍🇬🇧✌️🙏
It`s not a competition. Jimi paved the way, Stevie mastered & built on Jimi`s foundation. Both are awesome & it`s okay to love both. I do.
My favorites from Jimi "purple haze" and all "along the watchtower"
Little wing has to be my favorite from him but its so hard to find the actual version of the song
He also needs to Fire! Jimi's slow grooves are epic. But Fire! would set Mr. Video jumping off the couch.
Purple haze enough said

Mr Video has already done Purple Haze recently.
This reaction was amazing haha. Jimi wasn’t a guitar player, he was a mythical Deity.
Remember, SRV is playing during the 80s. Jimmy was creating during the 60s. He was doing what no one ever did with a guitar with no blue print to follow. He was the blue print for the greats.
*one of the blue prints. Can't discredit guys like Buddy Guy or Billy Gibbons, who Hendrix was in awe of

Seattle's own Jimi Hendrix is a Legend.
the guitar was upside down but the low E was still at he top.

Prince isn’t a guitar god
Listen to Alvin Lee and ten Years After play ' Woodchoppers Ball ". He was the original speed picker. He was shredding ten years (1967) before Eddie Van Halen came out with Eruption.

The GOD of cool
Who did it first? Jimi was dead before SRV got into a band. Jimi died in 1970 and SRV formed his first band in 1978.

They both covered songs too. Based on your imitator comment, what does that make Jimi then regardless of him changing things here and there just like Stevie did?

Clapton is a great guitarist. But I find him incredibly boring.
Eddie Hazel is comparatively unknown but he's top 5 for me
Apples, oranges and pears. All good but different styles.

Just look at Rolling Stone’s Top 100 guitar players, SRV didn’t even make the top 10.
The way music changes every decade , Prince is basically the Jimi Hendrix of the 80’s.
Ok, now you should do his version of Wild Thing from the same Monterey Pop Festival. Just be ready for anything...
SRV was amazing! Jimmy did it with a upside down guitar. He's lefthand. Acid helps
Acid is real bonus. Being able to play well on acid is a gift.

You’ve got to try Jimi’s Voodoo Child, it’s the ultimate guitar song, and yes, SRV does a hell of a rendition of it too. SRV may have perfected his technique to a higher level than Jimi, but Jimi was the song writer and creator. He developed all on his own. That’s right...Hendrix played right-handed guitars left-handedly...in otherwords...upside-down! He was the GOAT for sure✌🏾!
Agree. The whole concert is awesome!
He played the guitar upside down but it's strung left handed. He could play it strung righty tho. Could turn it around and play right handed too
The greatest rock performer of all time
No T-Bone Walker, no Jimi Hendrix. No Jimi, no Stevie Ray Vaughn. And the beat goes on
You have THE BEST reactions ..
Look forward to seeing them everyday 👍
If you like guitar play not alot beat Jimi but Chuck Berry in Johnny b Goode is unreal.
😍😍
Have u ever heard Jimis version of Johnny B goode? Blows chucks version out of the water.
@@subzero308 yeah its very good
Love Jimi Hendricks!! And you are killing me Mr. Video!!!
Try listening to Stevie Ray's Little Wing from the El Macambo concert. It's a Hendrix song and you can compare directly.
Stevie played little wing alot early in his career. Some really blistering versions.

😊 kudos..

He died at 27. What an amazing mind he had for being so young.
