The "sha-la-la" part is reminiscent of Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl".
into the mystic by Van
Was just gonna say that.
influences run deep
Ooh, i bet that was a nod to it. Great catch.
This entire album, August and Everything After, is fantastic.
Bit of a guilty pleasure for me, great record
Still one of my favorite albums.
Agreed. A masterpiece.
Omaha and A Murder of One are my jams, timeless
This song recounts a night where “Mr Jones” & Adam Duritz (the singer) were hanging out at a bar (New Amsterdam) where Mr Jones’ father was playing flamenco & that Spanish dancer Maria was performing with him. Adam & Mr Jones noticed that the drummer in Chris Isaak’s band was in another part of the room surrounded by women, & they began to fantasize about how cool it would be to break into the rock scene & be popular & surrounded by groupies…it’s basically a recounting of that night, of the dreams of hitting it big….very ironic that a song about making the big time actually became the Counting Crows big breakout hit.
and then he literally ran through every top tier female celebrity
@@scottb8454truly living the dream
"Help me believe in anything, because I wanna be someone who believes." That line always gets me.
Check out Around Here by them, although their best songs weren't played on the radio.
amazing song. amazing times.
The 90's produced some great music.
Amen!!!
Growing up in the 90's i always thought that the music was terrible, barr a cuppla songs, i didn't like the 70's either but am a big 60's & 80's girl but i think 20, 30yrs on when u hear a song from back growing up u do appreciate it alot more, find some songs were actually great & remind u of something that happened from ya high school days, so it isn't all bad 😊
@@Tully_23_32 I’m an 80’s baby so my teen years were in the 90’s and we had no shortage of banging music. I just remember every genre back then had amazing songs and artists. But it’s all a matter of individual taste. To each his own.
@@Tully_23_32 Oh man. You should definitely give the 70s another shot. I think its one of the most diverse and well rounded decades in music. There was so much music, across so many genres that found success in that decade that there's almost assuredly something you can discover that you'll absolutely love.
“Long December”
oh! you want tears!
I remember getting this CD from Columbia House. Damn, the music industry has changed SO much. And the way we hear music. (They were on the Shrek 2 and Clueless soundtracks.)
Another artist I actually drove to a music store to buy their CD was Fiona Apple. Y’all should definitely check her out.
I got the cassette tape through CH! I don't know how I thought I was paying for that. I was like... 10.
Their song was also on Cruel Intentions! 🎶🎵Coffee black, and egg white🎶🎵
It's actually about a depressing situation:
From Wikipedia: In a 2013 interview, Duritz explained that even though the song is named for his friend Marty Jones, it is actually about Duritz himself. "I wrote a song about me, I just happened to be out with him that night," Duritz said. The inspiration for the song came as Duritz and Jones were drunk at a bar after watching Jones' father perform, when they saw Kenney Dale Johnson, longtime drummer for the musician Chris Isaak, sitting with three women. "It just seemed like, you know, we couldn't even manage to talk to girls, ... we were just thinking if we were rock stars, it'd be easier. I went home and wrote the song," Duritz said.
Yeah, if you listen to the lyrics you realize how much it contrasts with the upbeat instrumentals. It's like he's living the fairytale in his head, but the lyrics are his reality
I grew up watching MTV and this was always on. Such a great song! "Around here" is another great counting Crows song
MTV played music? That's nuts!
August and everything after, the album this song is a tremendous album..no bad songs, Omaha and Round here two great songs as well
august and everything after album is A PLUS PLUS!
I always thought that was one of the greatest first albums by a group. Blue buildings and Anna begins are also favorites of mine. I remember that album just came out of nowhere and blew up.
Still a Top 10 all-time album for me
They also did a great cover of Big Yellow Taxi. I loved the 90s! Great band.
Lead singer Adam Duritz dated Jennifer Aniston AND Courtney Cox back in the day.
And Emmy Rossum, among quite a few others. That man PULLS!
I wanna be Bob Dylan 🎵🎵🎵
I love this song. My go to karaoke joint.
Counting Crows - Round here. A must listen. One of the deepest songs they've ever done
This is one of those songs that you knew because it was played on the radio all the time (you don’t pay attention because it’s not super flashy) but as time goes on you grow to like it more and realize what a classic it truly is.
Round Here and A Long December are fantastic songs to do next. Love the Counting Crows ❤
A Long December is fantastic!
You’ve gotta listen to “Colorblind” by them!!! So beautiful and one of my favorite songs. Super powerful, but simple. 🙌🏼❤️
Perfect interpretation of the song. “All the beautiful colors…”
"Round here" or "Big yellow taxi" and "A long December" are also good songs by them
This entire album is super good! Truly not a bad song on it!
I agree..
Adam Duritz is the bomb and so underrated!! Check out "Round Here", "A Long December", "Colorblind", and "Sullivan Street".
August and Everything After was a super cool album.. absolutely every song is sooo good. The lead singer used to be Married to Courtney Cox.. did you notice in this song he is singing every single second of this song with no break no guitar solo…
Hell yeah guys!!!! So excited your reacting to Counting Crows!!!! I listen to them ALL THE TIME!!! You gotta check out their song Round Here, my personal favorite!!!
You can't help feeling warm and fuzzy when listening to this song. So upbeat!!
This is such a weird comment knowing what this song is about
One of my favorite bands, I grew up listening to there music .. it’s poetic
Best Counting Crows song hands down is Rain King
Flat out one of the best artists since the mid 90s
Such a great song!! Always loved his voice! Keep Rocking!
ahhhh please do more counting crowes...no one does enough of them and they are talent talent talent...well thought out songs
Perfect blue buildings may be one of their best song ever bc Duritz was so open about color, sex, mental illness, EVERYTHING.
Great song
ABSOLUTELY Love this song !! ❤❤❤
Great band, I've seen them live, very fun/entertaining!!!👍👌✌😃
They were super big in the 90's which is really saying something because the 90's were stacked with so many crazy good bands like nirvana, green day, matchbox twenty, crash test dummies just to name a few
His jacket is the ⭐️
I've always loved this song! Great reaction~
You guys heard this song because it was EVERYWHERE. This was a huge hit. You've heard it at the Supermarket, in the Pizza joint, in commercials, everywhere since the 90s. This band sings the Shrek theme song.
Check out Blues traveler band - run around.... dude sings and plays harmonica beautifully
One of my favorite bands. So many great songs. Long december, round here, rain king, sullivan st, etc.
Sounds just like Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl"
Every song off of that album, August and Everything After, is so great, beautiful songs
I love this song, but my brother-in-law played it nonstop for hours! This was my first time spending Christmas with my future in laws. You could hear it blasting for hours on a loop and it drove me nuts!! Great CD though!
This song is definitely one of favorites... takes me back to being 18 (young and stupid). Colorblind though is my favorite of theirs!! Love to see that react!!!!!!!
Check out the entire album, even if it's off camera ... It helped sooo many people through some very tough times.
It basically saved my life when I was a teen. One of the best albums ever!!
Round Here, Omaha, Sullivan Street, Perfect Blue Buildings, Murder of One, Rain King, Anna Begins, Raining in Baltimore....
was blessed to had seen them live in concert in the early 90s
One of my all time favourites
Oh sorry for two comments back to back but based on your observations about this song you’ll really appreciate their song “Colorblind”.
This album was phenomenal... Good times
Such a masterpiece the full album. Back then when. Had to travel lite, this album was in my top five cds. I used to share that feeling in my whole life… :was a sad guy but I’m still here. 😜😜😜😜
Great song, great reaction! Have really enjoyed your journey thank you both :)
You guys are great
Another chill song from the 90's
You probably remember him from the Shrek song "accidentally in Love". Check out "big yellow taxi" & "round Here" and "Long December" three more great songs by counting Crows
i‘m pretty sure you both have heard the song „big yellow taxi“ of them. go ´n listen to it😉.
This whole album is 🔥🔥🔥
Love the post, thank you, you 2 have brought some good memories back.
Great song and vid.
It was huge on MTV videos in the radio
I burned the heck out this CD!!😳😂🤣
County Crows are a gem!!
More please, try "Round Here" think you will like. 👍🏽
Like BJ says that vibe... tis why this one is my fav!! ❤👍🏽
In another life I used to love dancing to this song in the night clubs...long ago...in a state far, far away...
Y’all should check out Blues Traveler. Same kind of vibe as Counting Crows. CC is a great band ❤️. Y’all make my day every day. Go UGA Dawgs!
So many great songs by this band.Long December comes to mind. U 2 keep rocking me when I wore a younger man's clothes.
Perfect songwriting.
AUGUST AND EVERYTHING AFTER is a rock n roll masterpiece
You need to check out there song "Round Here" that song always makes me drop a tear and I cannot really put my finger on why...it hits me and moves me in the gut.
Anna Begins.... one of the greatest tracks ever made!!!
Counting Crows with Adam Duritz singing were a brilliant band of the early-mid '90's. I LOVE this track, their sound was so unique.
I loved the smiles this song put on your faces!
Another reactor put it perfectly when they said “I want to be his friend “.
Besides their Round Here... I LOVE their song Omaha.
This song! Sooo much in it. This album is amazing!.
I think people like me born in the late 50's to the 70's were raised in time of the best music ever created, they don't make them like that this days.
I listen to this album all the time.👍😁
When I was younger I had friends who were in to country music and had never heard of Counting Crows.
I played their album August and Everything After. The next time I saw them they asked if I had the CD on me.😁
Counting Crows are an amazing band . this is there pop radio song . that have many truly deep songs .
If you've watched the opening of Shrek 2 you've heard counting crowes. They sing that "accidentally in love" song.
You should really do “round here” it’s an incredible song and video. The way he sings that song is just incredible
♥ Positivity! ♥
Listen to that amazing Asia voice! Love it!
Thank you so much Tina!!! Thank for joining our live. We also appreciate you for supporting our channel. 💕 💯
This is the best Band know one ever talks about. There first 4 albums were some of the most complete start to finish albums ever recorded..
What a song.
5:33 LOL Asia-"you've heard this in Grey's anatomy or something" im dead
This takes me back!! ❤🤘
Lots of chair dancing done to this one.
I love this song. It makes me happy when I hear it. 😊
If you like this upbeat Tempo with them the song "hanging around" is fantastic
Love these guys! ive had the pleasure of seeing them live a couple of times, got to hang w/ them in 93 or 94 when they played the university i was attending. Adam has some great lyrics. My favorite is Omaha, off this same album. The chorus is haunting, "Omaha. Somewhere in the middle of America. Get right to the heart of the matter, it's the heart that matters more. Think you better turn your ticket in...and get your money back at the door."
Hard to believe Adam duritz was tone dead..no joke. Daddy paid for his singing lessons.. absolute quality
Thanks.
One of my favorite songs from the Counting Crows are Anna Begins
Please check out "Hanginaround" and "Einstein on the Beach (For An Eggman)" by these guys, two of their lesser played tunes.
Please react to Goo Goo Dolls - Iris! It's a alternative rock masterpiece
I was a young teen when this one hit . But its a feel good song
One of the best songs ever made. IN MY OPINION
You have to listen to the whole album this song is on. Their first CD and fire from front to back!!!!!
Round Here! My opinion, their best song. This was the kind of CD you could put on and let it ride!
Luuuuuuv this song.....
Asia. You caught that. He said he never realized he was considered being goofy until after the video. He said, people teased him about his dancing. He said…I never thought of myself as a dancer…I didn’t think I was dancing..,,I was just playing with the guys. He said…I became a little conscientious after that. In this video I was just being me and not knowing it…..great catch on your part
"Round here" is incredibly poignant by them...also angels of silence is a great rock one of theirs...honestly, you could take any of the songs from August and everything after and not go wrong...its an almost perfect album without a bad song
Love this song one of my all time favorite songs and band need to check out long December color blind by them too
