I would also be willing to let waterman go….considering our forward stocks look good and darling still on the list next year. List management certainly feels different from last few years with Clarke in charge!!
We should have used our draft capital 2 years ago.. or even one year ago. Too late now for a lot of the players. The Eagles wanted a good trade deal. Obviously we would have been ripped off badly if we'd traded a Darling Sheed Gaff 2 years ago. We may have just got a pick in the 40s say. But the Eagles needed to think beyond that and instead considered the importance is a draft pick not value for money.
I think English would improve WC quite a lot. They have been poor exiting the back 50, often turning the ball over as they have no options to kick to. English offers that bail out kick to the wing and he is rarely going to be out marked, he will bring it to ground at least 60% of time
You do realise if Richmond play too hard ball with Liam Baker, the Eagles just pick him up in the Pre Season Draft. They do not want to go that route because Richmond will not deal with them for any future trades. Interesting Matt Clark use to be Richmond List Manager. And even if they are first in PSD they wouldnt waste a pick on someone who wants out. I would try a trade and maybe a 2nd round. Cant see Freo trading with Eagles.

Would be nice to sign a younger ruckman. Like age 22. Nick Bryan for Bombers not getting a game. We need more midfield depth. Angus Sheldrick not getting a game either. I think it's a bad idea giving up a lot or paying a lot for someone over the age of 26. I think English and Baker are bad ideas. Darling, Sheed, and Gaff out. Get whatever picks you can for them.
The Eagles were half hearted on English, but now are suddenly into him. Is it too late? I feel they've fully realised on what life is like with a poor ruck stocks. The midfield and defence is under constant pressure because of their failure to win centre clearances. Flynn hasn't delivered as hoped. No doubt missing 10 weeks with a severe hamstring injury has been a significant factor, plus further injuries since. That makes him injury prone. BWilliams is trying hard but will struggle to be a consistent ruckman with his size. Jury out on Barnett still. Can Archer Reid eventually move from forward to ruck and would that be sensible? Livingstone and Jamison are support options. They will bringing young midfielders from interstate into the team. But why would they want to struggle constantly with a losing ruck. For a free agent the club must do all within their powers.
I would be pretty disappointed to only get pick 8 for Barrass and I also think Hawks won’t want to give pick 8. Draft is a lottery pick, Key Defenders don’t grow on trees.
Flynn if he is fit would be in the top 22. No doubt. But jury is out if he is still good enough. Barnett is getting another two years. But he isn't showing outstanding athleticism and isn't taking over the game. On the weekend Eagles reserves will have 3 ruckman and a forward ruckman in Reid. How do they all fit in. Also concerned about whether our mids want to hang around with constantly losing rucks.

@@alansimmonds9030 There are Hawks supporters who are on board with it. I agree with you, the price is way too high. I personally wouldn't give a top 10 pick for him. They are going to be rare over the next few years if the Hawks progression is lineal, throw that on-top of Tassie coming in, who knows what that does to the 2026-2027 draft. A late first round pick might be number 30 or worse with academy, father son, free agency compo picks, charity picks if WC qualify. I say the Hawks should use the top 10 picks now.
I think Hawks get Battle and we will pass on Barrass. Your list issues are more around holding onto ex premiershp players too long and not investing in youth. Build a team around Harley Reid. Getting mature players in now does nothing for your future. As the AFL teams like Dogs and Hawks have shown, playing a fast brand of football with balance of youth and experience is a lethal combination. Nothing will improve your club more than recruiting a good coach that will unite the players and get them playing with effort each week.
Throw the kitchen sink at English. Pass on Baker. We will have to give up picks for him and that is a bad decision. We all know what happened with the Tim Kelly trade and how that effected our draft and list build.
As a dogs fan, English is a tossup. An awful ruckman, incredible around the ground. Great intercepting mark, great tank, good at following up and helping in clearances, good for a goal. In a negative point of view he is weak, gets bullied physically by other rucks, can be seen as uncompetitive in the ruck. He gets smoked in hitouts against anyone decent. Personally I’d wanna keep him but if we had kept Jordan sweet I would’ve let English go and not worried about it

If English was a few years younger yes but at his age no.
Also concerned about whether our mids want to hang around with constantly losing rucks.
im firmly in the barrass to hawks and waterman to melbourne camp
dont want to trade for baker
rather have a top 3 pick for a mid than baker
Best post I've seen on here. Your one of the few thinking long term for the eagles list rather than looking at the quick fix. I agree trade waterman and barass. Now that would bring in some top 10 talent. With our existing pick 3 I'd say we could add 2 more top 10 picks with those trades. Perfect long term
@@user-ln8we1ud9c depending on how it all goes we could have pick 1-3, 8-10 and 8-10. possibly 3 top 10 picks, that is an absolutely massive win for the rebuild
Agree completely. Eagles have key forward depth to cover waterman too with Allen darling maric
j Williams reid. I'd trade Waterman now whilst his still young and in red hot form.
Pick 8 for Barrass just doesn’t feel like enough, players like that don’t grow on trees. I’d say split our first pick, use one of those for baker. Get English and Graham for nothing and keep barrass.
Baker means no more Witherden 👌
I heard about the Hawks link to Barass yesterday.
I heard the asking price was this and next year's first rounder from the Hawks and potentially a later pick swap.
For a 29 year old turning 30 in 2025?.....You're dreaming!
Conor Nash would be a good FA to get. Doesn’t seem like there are many interested.
Because everyone knows he's staying.
I love Tom but naybe we beed to trade him for the sake of draft capital
Mate you look like Connor Nash's twin brother.
I like this guy but the name True Eagle bothers me.
Take Tim English we need a ruckman - and a midfield!
Throw the kitchen sink at English. Pass on Baker. We will have to give up picks for him and that is a bad decision. We all know what happened with the Tim Kelly trade and how that effected our draft and list build.
Nah I want more than just the hawks 1st id want a first and second from them weather that second be this years or next
Personally I’d wanna keep him but if we had kept Jordan sweet I would’ve let English go and not worried about it
We lose barrass and it’s the last straw in this club
we wouldn't lose him, we'd reach agreement to trade him and he'd have to agree. he is contracted, he just ants more money.
Until you get a coach, you won't get good players. 😂
Get rid of barrass there aint no flood gate.
English will be good for Harry's development
1 view in one min? you fell off
Tim English is a dumb move
Bus linger and a 1 st for barrass
You are crazy if you think Tim English hasn't had a compelling year.. easily best ruck of 2024 in the entire country. Why on earth would we trade Barras to get a pick 8 and hope that rookie becomes as good as Barras.. total madeness
3 picks in top 70 is madness if we want to rebuild properly. Tough decisions must be made.
@@user-ln8we1ud9c yeah but when you are trying to rebuild ya shouldn't remove your foundations
Haha il put 100 k on bareas not leaving idiots
BARRASS MAY LEARN TO KICK MABY.15 METERS.
WHAT A BONUS FOR THE HAWKS.
Baker can go to freo and lets poach a couple of their back up players that can't get a gig
