3D printed antweight battlebot: Bulldog (Flsun Q5)

- I was thinking about building one for a long time and finally started the design, bought the necessary components and put it together. I'm quite happy with the result so far. However, this bot has never fought so i don't know exactly how well it will perform in an actual game. The 3D-printed blade is great and the aluminium one is even better but i'm not sure how well the 3D-printed armor will hold up. I think this bot might be best suitable for games where only fully 3D-printed bots are allowed.
The total weight of the bot comes in at around 144 grams and it fits within a 4*4*4 inch (101*101*101 mm) box, not flat but this isn't a requirement.
All the rules about antweight battlebots can be found here: www.robotwars101.org/ants/rul...

Thank you to Flsun for providing me with their Q5 3D-printer. At first I was very sceptical about delta 3D-printers because i had bad experiences with them in the past. Delta printers are usually hard to set up and level because of their complex kinematics model. I didn't have any of these problems with the Q5 and this is my honest opinion. I think this is one of the best (if not the best) 3D-printer for absolute beginners.

I'm printing this right now woke up this morning and this was on my recommend amazing video and seems a great design printed flawlessly on my artillery sidewinder. keep up the great work 👍
This looks like an excellent design, great work!
Nice to see you getting in to combat robotics. But be carefull, it's super addicting ;)
That’s so true haha 😆 I’ve always wanted to build one.
I'd suggest that you use TPU for armor and clad key spots with hardened steel shim stock. Large air spaces between armor and anything important are also a great idea. The weapon should be hardened steel that's through hardened and tempered for toughness with at least 3 arms. (two-arms leads to the bar-spinner death dance.) I'd also suggest shock-mounting the weapon or at least isolating it from the bulk of the chassis because you hit yourself just as hard as you hit your opponent. Finally, wheels can be exposed if the tire hangs over the edge of the rim so enemy weapons only hit the tire.
Now you just need to get this in an arena (and screw down the top)
3D printed armor in the insect-weight class is absolutely fine. My 1 pound robot Oswald's chassis is solid 4 mm ABS around the weapon and for the rest of the chassis is just thin ABS framing (there's videos on my channel of it) and it held up fine, and only slightly chipped away when hit directly with a drum spinner. But for the weapon, some sort of metal is usually a good choice👍👍👍👍great video!
GREAT!
*now make a glass cannon*
Very nice
Thank you 😁
Yeah this is awesome, I love combat robots
Same :)
Niceeee !
Just got my working! I had to modify the weapon mount to accommodate the shorter screws the motor came with, but other than that it works!
Is there a build guide somewhere?
Oh dang this is really cute ans awesome! Its all fun and games in the house untill you get the body and spinning blade machines in steel hehe 😂
Epic
This looks so similar to something i am making, weird!
Hey just wondering is there any other lipo battery that you can use or is it just that one?
For those like me who prefer disks to bars, did the original 3 toothed design still fit in the 4 inch cube?
How do you keep your lid secure?
Nice build, what 3D design software do you use to design your models?
Autodesk Fusion 360.

Ziet er mooi uit!
Mooi gedesigned ;-)
Haha merci ;-)
Is there a build guide somewhere?
Brian one of my escs its 20a and the other is 30a can i solder them with np ?
Yes, no problem. The Amp rating on a esc just states that the esc can sustain these currents for longer periods of time.
Where can we find brushless motors without buying them
Is their any cheaper versions of the motors?
Awesome however shipping for banggood takes months and I cannot find an alternative weapon motor.. if anyone has found an alternative please reply with a link.
What is the weight of everything excluding the 3D printed parts?
148 g
How long are the m5 screws your using 12mm?
To hold the weapon motor?
keren bang
Hey what’s the volts for the lipo battery?
7.4v (2cell)
@@BrianBrocken thanks 👍
How u conected the weapon esc into the batery ?
All the power wires from the esc’s are soldered together and go to 1 battery connector.
@@BrianBrocken but can i conect 2 brushed escs with a btushless esc into the the batery with no problem?
@Bernardo .H Of course haha they both need the same voltage to operate, so no problem ;-)
@@BrianBrocken thank you so muchhhh
@@BrianBrocken i saw here and 1 its 20a and the other 30a it is ok ?
Haha great build Brian! You can let it fight with garden robots :P
Hahaha 😂 yes great idea 😜👍
What is the update on space x model. Btw nice work brian
I'm waiting on a gps module. Once this arrives i can start to do some testing on autonomous flights, if the weather allows for it.
@@BrianBrocken can you test it inside an arena, or large warehouse?
What’s up man I like your design
Thanks man ;-)
How come some rules say antweight is 1 pound and others say its 150 grams?
US/UK thing. 1 pound is US antweight. 150g is antweight in UK
